Alfredo Morelos breaks silence on Rangers future and insists he wants to play in the English Premier League...

Alfredo Morelos has broken his silence on his transfer speculation and reiterated his desire to play in England.

The striker is Rangers ' top scorer this season with 16 in all competitions and has already entered the top 10 Colombian goalscorers in European football at the age of 21.

He was the subject of three failed bids by Beijing Renhe, with the potentially rising to nearly £9million.

The Chinese transfer market remains open for a few more days until the end of February and there has been speculation the Far East club may return with another improved offer.

But the former HJK Helsinki star has made clear his ambition is to play in English football – and he hopes their top clubs have been impressed with his scoring exploits.

Morelos said: "I play in a country very close to the English Premier League and many teams are watching me.

"So I am very happy with what I am doing right now.

"I have a positive mentality and if a team in England showed serious interest in me, it would be very exciting."

And Morelos is determined to use Rangers to achieve his World Cup dream this summer in Russia with the South American country.

Morelos has been tipped for a call-up by Colombia boss Jose Peckerman and, in an interview with Colombian radio station's RCN Radio's On the Move programme, the striker hopes he's been noticed.

He said: "I am happy at Rangers and satisfied with how I am playing.

"Scottish football is very quick. You have no time on the ball, it's very physical and the ball is in the air a lot.

"The fans are passionate and Scottish football is intense.

"My ambition is to play for my country and I need to keep doing what I have been doing.

"So far, I have not had any communication from the coaching staff of the Colombia team, but I hope I will.

"I want to put Colombia on the map in European football."

As you say he has a lot of competition for the striker role. Time is on his side though, being so young.

We may not play in a very strong league but we sell out our 50,000 capacity stadium for every home league game. This will help Morelos get used to playing in front of big crowds and under pressure as our support are very demanding.

Do you know of any other up and coming Columbian players? We could do with more young talented players like him.

There is Rafael Santos Borre who is striker at River Plate and I rate him as a very good player. He is only 21 o 22 if I can remember and has already represent the full national team. There is also Marlos Moreno that Manchester City sign from Nacional here and is now on a loan to Flamengo in Brasil that is a very big club and is in Copa Libertadores. He is also young and is a very good striker. Another that will get a chance and is young is Roger Martinez who is at Villareal in this moment, another striker. There is many in the middle-20s age that are very good too and many playing in the local national league here that I think are very good.

Also for the big crowd thing. We get very big crowds here in South America with very incredible atmosphere so the crowd thing does not make any difference for players here moving to Europe.

Do you think if he makes the world cup in the summer and an EPL team comes in for him he'll be off?

They will know the Chinese pounds already rejected so that will have to be matched or bettered, its not just goals he brings to the team, he has so much more to his game.

Yous use loads of flares to hide all the empty seats

Like I said to you before. You know nothing of South American football. And flares do not get used all the time here. Flares hide nothing. Go educate yourself.

In other positions we have players that sre of 25 and younger that I think are very good like Wilmar Barrios (Boca Juniors), Johan Mojica (Girona), Eder Balanta (Basel), Gustavo Cuellar (Flamengo) and player I like most Yimmi Chará (Atleico Junior).
