  1. Absolutely love the guy. Would love to have him for years but if he smashes it next season, helps us win trophies and then fucks off back to England after netting us a big transfer fee then I’ll happily watch the rest of his career from afar like a proud da.
  2. I think there's a while to run - we just renewed last year. It's absolutely bogging having a betting company as our sponsor in this day and age. I'd happily see the club take less money for a more ethical sponsor, or just charge us £20 more for replica kits that were sponsorless.
  3. You're right - his passes down the outside consistently had great weight on them, and he's much more on the front foot than Barisic. Players like Barisic, Kamara and Lundstram just kill the intensity of the team and play at such a pedestrian pace. Cantwell, Raskin and Ridvan push the tempo and noticeably drive us forward. That's how we should be playing and we're a much better outfit when we embrace this style.
  4. As soon as a Rangers player threatens celtic, their ex-players in the media make some preposterous claim or try and start a drama. Our print media, who have all the self-control of an eight-week puppy on cocaine, can’t help themselves and need to indulge their nonsense. The only bright side is that, unlike Morelos, Cantwell seems like he’s got the head on his shoulders to handle this in the best way possible - to double down on being the best version of himself. I can’t wait to see him tear it up next year.
  5. I’m most sad to see the back of Arfield. He’s just a solid, reliable pro. Never rocked the boat, always gave 100% and was always humble. I remember an interview earlier this year when, in response to a question about being offered a new contract, he said he understood he was low priority. It just showed that he put the club first and knew his place, in the best way. Wish him nothing but the best going forward.
  6. Am I right in saying seat transfers started today? Hoping to get a move from CD3 to GR4 but not hopeful!
  7. As a third kit that’s absolutely banging - I like bold and vibrant designs for kits that aren’t going to get worn very often. If that’s our new home strip then I’m making it my personal mission to bankrupt Castore.
  8. We massively fumbled the ball with him. He wS great in his first game against Ross County then had a tough time of it in the Old Firm as basically all our team did. From that point he was basically frozen out until the last couple of weeks of the season. It was clear as day he had ability and the failure to use him was one of GVB’s big domestic mistakes last year.
  9. Literally had to go to Morocco for us to finally beat them this season. The result has been a long time coming and we absolutely bossed them. Cantwell is incredible, Raskin was great, Souttar and Goldson were rock solid, McCrorie reliable again (and how fucking great is it to have a keeper who can actually rush off his line for through balls) and Ridvan looked really solid. Beale got his tactics spot on for the third game against them in a row. I’m delighted for him that he’s finally been rewarded with a good result. I’ll book my flights back to Marrakech for the next Old Firm - there’s worse ways to watch the match!
  10. Our best player by a country mile once again, and a great goal to boot. He’s very much giving off the vibes of the ringer who turns up for your game of 5s and is better and fitter than everyone in the team. If we can surround him with real quality in terms of technical ability and movement then he’ll be an absolute creative menace.
  11. If he doesn't want to be here then we have to move on. In saying that, it's absolutely vital that the money that is ring-fenced to sign him is invested in another high-quality player.
  12. I love Tillman's talent, but I have concerns about his ability to cope in fast-paced and intense games like today. The optimistic view is that he's 20 and has plenty of room to grow and learn. The negative is that he's now had several Old Firms to make an impact and, for whatever reason, has failed to do so thus far. I would personally still sign him purely for our player trading model. We're almost guaranteed to make a profit and he's clearly a very good player against 10 of the 11 domestic teams we face. If he can develop the nous to carry that over against celtic then all the better.
  13. Again I think Beale set us up correctly and got his tactics right. The only questionable one was starting with Kent but frankly when the other option is Sakala, who seems physically incapable of scoring against them, he’s not exactly spoilt for choice. We miss an open goal and concede an absolute brain fart of a goal. There’s literally nothing he can do about that. We don’t have the depth of squad needed to be able to compete from the bench. Morelos is in Carter-Vickers pocket constantly but we have no better option available. We recruited well in January with Cantwell and Raskin. We need another window where the vast majority of our signings are successes and we badly need to back the manager.
  14. Legitimately one of the most infuriating goals I e ever seen us concede. As annoying as the mistakes were at Parkhead you can excuse individual errors. They happen to even the best of players. But to have multiple players just staring at the ball is inexcusable. It’s literally a goal you’d be annoyed at a team of P7s conceding. It’s just impossible to coach that out of experienced pros.
  15. I'm not failing to understand anything. The squad we have at the moment is not capable of beating celtic to the title and is deficient in lots of ways. That's a failure at the board room level but, under Beale, our form has been excellent. We've taken 44 points out of a possible 51. That's 86% of all points available and over a season works out at a rate of 98 points. We're on the right track under him, and with wise investment in the summer should improve, as I believe we need to do - because I agree finishing second isn't acceptable. I just don't think this loss calls for major panic, and I don't think it has anything to do with the player's application. Next week is the much more important match anyway, and as you say that'll tell us a lot more about where the players are at.
  16. The game against Aberdeen mattered no more than the games against any team other than celtic. You can make a case that they're a historic rival but they're not competing with us in the table so it's hardly a six-pointer. We were a couple of minutes from beating celtic at home and, bar terrible refereeing and two absolute shitshow individual errors, would have gotten at least a point at their stadium. celtic are currently a better team than us and that's where we need to improve in the summer. The only performance/result combo under Beale that has been totally unacceptable was the League Cup final - I'll grant you that. Otherwise, in every game either the performance, the result or both has been okay in my eyes.
  17. They did not give up today. One of the last acts of the game today was Tillman winning a foul after chasing back into his own half to nick the ball away from an Aberdeen player. This happened one minute after Arfield had sprinted back and cut out a pass across our box which could well have made it 3-0. There was nothing wrong with the application today, just the finishing and (in Borna's case) the defensive awareness.
  18. We've won 14 out of 17 under Beale in the league and will potentially hit 90+ points, and likely top the points total we won two of our last four leagues with. If we were throwing away points left right and centre then fair enough but that's just not the case. If you expect your team to win every single match then you're deluded. We need to strengthen and get better next year, but to claim that today was "gutless, spineless and clueless" is bed wetting. The drubbings from celtic under Gio and the 7-1 from Liverpool match that description. Today we clearly had the better chances and just didn't take them. There's a middle ground where not every loss is the end of the world or some indication of a character defect in the squad. Sometimes it's just a loss. It happens.
  19. I agree but it's who he is and we shouldn't be surprised. It's been evident for a few years that he lacks awareness in those situations and, at the age of 30, he's not suddenly going to improve this area of his game. He's a player that will likely need replaced, although Yilmaz has shown absolutely nothing since he came in so it remains to be seen if he's the answer.
  20. Please can we stop with the same ridiculous bed wetting after every defeat? We played fine. We wasted plenty of chances, had a shot cleared off the line and their keeper made a brilliant save. Aberdeen's first goal was a total fluke and the second was Barisic being Barisic and falling asleep at the back post. Not every defeat is some sort of colossal character failure on the part of the team - sometimes in football you just lose matches that, on the basis of performance and chances created, you should have won. It's annoying but I'd be much more concerned if we'd lost 2-0 and Aberdeen had absolutely battered us.
  21. Nonsense. Our players were fully committed and in fact I think literally the last bit of action in the game was Tillman winning a foul after chasing back to nick a ball in our own half. This was about two minutes after Arfield sprinted back to intercept a pass across our box. We don’t need to say performances are spineless or pathetic or lacking in graft every time we drop points. Sometimes you just lose games you should win. I’m more than happy to call out performances when they’re like this, such as the drubbing against Liverpool and some of the more recent celtic games, but I just don’t think it’s accurate to describe today in those terms.
  22. Annoying to lose and less than ideal before the semi next week but I’m not particularly concerned. We played well enough to win and had plenty of chances. Aberdeen’s first was a total fluke. You’ll lose games in football that you dominate and this is one of those occasions. The performance wasn’t pathetic or spineless, it was just one of those days.
  23. Barisic loses his man at the back post. We can’t be surprised. It’s who he is.
  24. There is a gap, but in football things are never as good or as bad as they seem. There's a reason that celtic came back after 55 to win the title. The margin we won the league by wasn't a true reflection of the difference in quality between us both - it underestimated celtic's strength and overestimated ours. Similarly, 12 points (or whatever it ends up as), is a bigger gap than the quality between us. celtic are definitely better but it's not a million miles. We're both very, very good domestic teams with celtic on course for 100+ points and us 90+ points. At that level, you're talking fine margins being the things that swing titles. A couple of good signings from us, maybe they lose some players, and you could easily see a reversal of this season's table next year.
  25. Aye this is exactly right. I'm in CD3 and there's a row behind me with five empty seats in a row for the vast majority of the season. It's crazy that there isn't a "use it or lose it" element to having a season ticket for people who miss the majority of games (unless there's extenuating circumstances like health issues).
