  1. Need to try and get in front early and make sure we don't give the crowd anything to get excited over. Hopefully Colak has his scoring boots on but it's just as important that we're brave on the ball and get him some service. 2-0, Colak and Tavernier.
  2. I think it’s a big ask and I’d put celtic as very, very heavy favourites. They have a better team, a coherent system and seemingly a better manager. There’s a lot of football to be played but I struggle to see a way back.
  3. I couldn’t make the game in midweek so not sure if it was the case then( but this is the first match I remember when his name wasn’t chanted by the fans. Seems like the crowd were ready to turn today if Dundee Utd had got something out of the match. I don’t think he’ll get the sack as the board have shown patience with Gerrard in the past (and are probably too cheap to shell out compensation and hire another management team), but I’m becoming more and more convinced he’s not the man for the job.
  4. I wish the game, and all football, would go ahead but it's pretty clear which way the wind is blowing. Whilst I can respect the need for people to grieve, it doesn't feel right that a "period of mourning" is inflicted upon the significant portion of the population who don't feel particularly strongly about the Queen's passing beyond wishing her family well. It's all the more ridiculous given that we're still expected to go to work. We're too sad for entertainment but not too sad to do our jobs? Nonsense. Regardless, hopefully the inevitable cancellation gives the squad a chance to reboot and take a breath after a very damaging week.
  5. Given that they had 2/3rds of possession that's an utterly disgusting stat.
  6. Absolutely embarrassing so far. Haven't laid a glove on them, total men against boys and zero bite.
  7. How can we go from conceding 13 goals in an entire season to not being able to defend a set piece in less than 18 months? It’s becoming a shambolic pattern.
  8. Say what you will about Gerrard, but he’d never have let us lose 3-0 and 4-0 to them. I can take celtic being better than us - that’s been the case for the vast majority of the decade and it’s the case that domestically they’re a significantly better team now. What I can’t accept is being outfought by celtic. The bare minimum we should be doing is matching their intensity and work ethic. That sort of commitment and tone is set by the manager. You can never say the league is over in September but it looks a long way back. I’m not in favour of sacking Gio but I’m becoming increasingly concerned that he lacks the ability to properly fire up our players for games like this.
  9. They’re miles ahead of us domestically, with a coherent system and an attacking style of play. We simply can’t cope and our heads are in the sand if we can’t acknowledge that they’re significantly better than us at the moment. It’s too early to say the league is done but it’s a tough ask to get it back from here.
  10. Energy bills will be 300% higher than they were last October, inflation in double digits and the club are seriously charging £180 for three games. Fucking disgusting way to treat the support after the backing we've given them over the last decade and during the pandemic.
  11. Two great finishes today. I had initial concerns that he'd offer nothing outside of goals but his hold up play is decent and in particular his one touch passing and lay offs are excellent. Seems to have taken to us like a duck to water and his teammates clearly like him. All signs point to a good signing.
  12. McLaughlin Tavernier Goldson Sands Yilmaz Davis Jack Arfield Matondo Lawrence Colak
  13. Fun draw. Looking forward to showing Liverpool fans what a proper European atmosphere sounds like.
  14. I'm hoping we get PSG. I wasn't able to go to the Rangers/Barcelona game in 2007 and I want to be able to say to my grandkids that I saw the greatest player of all time play at Ibrox (and get the shit kicked out of him by John Lundstram). Glamour "fuck it, let's make some memories" group: PSG, Liverpool, Inter Best group for advancing: Frankfurt, Lepizig, Sporting (please don't give us this group it reads like a Europa group).
  15. Fantastic from the boys tonight. We definitely rode our luck at times but PSV are a very good team and you’ll never have it all your own way. We were brave on the ball for the majority of the game and we managed the game brilliantly from 75 mins onwards. Tillman is still raw as fuck and will make mistakes but fuck me, he might be the most effortlessly talented player we’ve had since the Advocaat era. An absolute superstar in the making. James Sands, apart from two dangerous misplaced passes, was a colossus at the back. A soft spoken Yank flying into tackles like he’s a playing on a red blaize pitch in Glasgow in the 80s. Goldson justified every penny of his contract tonight. A monster in the air. Love this team. Onwards and upwards!
  16. Horrendous tackle and hopefully the early reports turn out not to be true. My first instinct was that the team should have been in the guy’s face but then I remembered they’re just kids. I don’t know what the rules are, but I wonder if there’s not some merit in having a much older, “enforcer” player in the team (imagine Lee McCulloch in his mid 30s) to provide some leadership and experience on the pitch but also a bit of protection in situations like this? We’re going to run into bullies again playing in the lower leagues.
  17. Good for Gio. Irrespective of whether or not this blows up in his face (I don't think it will), he's clearly demonstrated that he won't accept poor standards and this will resonate with the other players. No player is bigger than the club and we'd be furious if we had players starting for us who were overweight and lacked commitment. To play for Rangers should mean upholding high standards. I'm also really glad to hear that he talked to senior players about this, and that they're all onboard. I imagine they're probably furious with Morelos as well. The fact Gio consulted with them shows his man management skills and should stop this turning into a divisive issue. I like Morelos, but have always questioned the hero worship he's afforded, particularly given some of his past indiscretions and streaky form. It often feels like a lot of our fanbase love him purely because other teams hate him. But aye, big respect to Gio for this and I'm delighted we've got a manager with the balls to do this.
  18. There's no conspiracy, and anyone who claims there is needs to take their tinfoil hat off and get their head checked. We simply have an appallingly bad standard of refereeing in this country. There's times it benefits us, and there's times it doesn't. At the weekend, we benefitted from a soft penalty and not having one given against us. We suffered from a ridiculous red card decision and (in the context of Lundstram's red card), Jake Doyle-Hayes only being shown a yellow.
  19. He fucking backhands the guy in the face for no reason. It’s utterly brainless, especially when we’re already down to 10.
  20. That’s a red card and realistically we’d be fuming if someone did that against us and wasn’t sent off. So fucking stupid from Morelos. Sick of this idiocy from him year after year.
  21. Utterly ridiculous red card. No danger to the player and clearly just a cynical foul and a booking.
  22. Hahaha what a terrible decision. The refereeing in this country is an utter shambles.
  23. PSV were quality, and it always felt like they had an extra gear. First thing I noticed in the warm up was how big the team was, and I think we struggled with that on occasions throughout the game (aside from the two set piece goals). Despite that I thought we had the better of the first half and was pretty pleased with how we'd played. The second half was really poor, though. We were gifted a goal but realistically they could have put a couple by us and we could have had no complaints. Going into the second leg next week much more in hope than expectation, but stranger things have happened and we've always got a puncher's chance.
  24. I’m very glad he’s got a couple of goals and he’s clearly got a good attitude on the pitch, but I’m still concerned by what I see. He still doesn’t offer the team much with his movement, meaning that if he doesn’t score then I don’t think he’s going to be of any help to the team. I’m also not crazy about “playing to his strengths”, which will likely see us bombarding the opposition box with crosses. This is a really inefficient way to try and score and we need to show more guile, particularly against SPL teams. Having said that, it’s early days and I’d be happy to eat my words. Fair play to him, he’s scoring at the moment - hopefully he can keep it going.
  25. Not a great team performance but a clean sheet and our two strikers scored so it’s something to build on. I also thought the Killie left back, Dorsett, was excellent. He was big, strong and completely shut down that side of the pitch. He’s only 20 and is on loan from Reading. I think he’s worth keeping an eye on this season.
