  1. Unless of course Naismith and Weiss had come in and were utter gash, which isn't beyond the realms of possibility....I've seen enough former players returning, a shadow of their former selves.
  2. The fact he identified and managed to get rid of most of the dead wood very quickly. Based on a single transfer window he also seems to be able to spot a player. Bearing in mind we are scraping around the bargain bin, there have been few let downs in my opinion. They all just need time (I'm talking half a season at least, to bed in) I like the man's attitude, desire and enthusiasm. I also think he'll prove he's a good coach once he was built his own squad (not just the starting 11). Most folk on here seem to take what he says literally, completely ignoring the fact it's his second language. He's trying to explain, as best he can and the press (and folk on here) just make a **** of him. I doubt there are many of us who could face a press pack and explain our intentions and desires in conversational Portuguese without making an arse of ourselves. McCoist (and McLeish on occasions) talked a lot of shite and English was his first language.
  3. Absolutely spot on....Changing the manager isn't a guarantee that things will dramatically improve. All it does it create instability and sometimes its better to stick with the devil you know than the devil you don't. I'll probably get dogs abuse but id much rather maintain the 'win 2 games then drop points in the 3rd game' cycle and witness gradual improvement in play and squad than sack the management team and bring in a new manager (who lets face it, isn't going to be a big name with a trophy haul) with new training regimes, tactics and go-to players. I cant recall any team who has sustained a level of success when constantly changing backroom staff. The elephant in the room is celtic's perceived march towards 9/10 in a row. If that does happen its a hollow record given we weren't in the league for 4 of the seasons and i for one couldn't really give a fuck. Id much rather have a stable club than one built on shifting sands. If that means celtic winning the league for another few years then so be it.
  4. It also comes down to the quality of opposition too. If a DM is up against better teams regularly then their value will be more obvious. If they are playing against dross most weeks then it might seem like a wasted jersey.
  5. Are you honestly using THE six best midfielders of a generation as a benchmark for assessing Jack's contribution to our midfield?
  6. Just thought I'd waste my time typing the same thing OR perhaps I never noticed the other one.
  7. I hope to Christ it's not this.... its fucking awful https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1488783/rangers-leaked-home-third-kits-201718/amp/
  8. That's exactly what i thought. Even if he did play why the fuck would he remember Lennon? Just a lazy journo casting out any old shite in the hope of snaring a sound bite.
  9. Fair enough re my earlier comment. To be honest, I havent kept track of the constant doom-mongers but your name didn't ring a bell :)
  10. I suspect he'll get more game time in the next 2 friendlies.
  11. Always best to keep focusing on the negative, dinnae bother with this looking forward malarkey, it's over rated.
  12. Herrera looks like he can handle himself as well. Not seen enough of Pena but he doesn't look like a push over either.
  13. And there was me thinking it might be a lot of shite as well. Glad you put my mind at ease :)
  14. Am I the only one on here who thinks you are being ironic and referring to the reactionists on this forum? Following a few dodgy results folk were asking 'has Pedro LOST the dressing room?' etc so you've asked 'does Pedro HAVE the dressing room' after a good performance.
  15. All the 'ive heard he's utter pish' ones based on hee fucking haw
  16. Going by this game Tav seems to have learned how to defend over the close season.
  17. To be fair, he had a full season to work with his team before reaching the Premier League. we'll never know if he would have retained all/any of the records had he been dropped in at the tail end of a shitty season.
  18. Interesting how nobody has challenged this particular paragraph yet but are happy to dismiss points 1-4
  19. And all the while we had a strong spine running through the team, had money pouring in from shirt sales to fund squad improvements, been regularly playing in the top tier and had money in the bank from numerous European runs! Oh, hang on a minute....
  20. Nope, because clearly he could! As would Rednapp and dare i say Pardew. But we had McLeish, Ferguson, McInnes, Neil & Rowlett as our more likely options. I'm not convinced any of those would have made much of a difference.
