  1. off on a stag trip to the'dam this weekend is there any rangers bars or pubs likely to show th old firm game near the amsterdam train station as we've only got about 1hr15mins from final whistle to plane taking off and we dont want to miss the match
  2. one of my work colleagues went to school with him and was talking about him this morning apparently Bain (or should that be Vain?) fancied himself (as a bit of a model) when younger and actually appeared in 'Jackie' magazine !!! says it all.......... FUD Sorry for bringing this up again, Martin. excellent, cheers for that....gives me something to put on the dart board
  3. one of my work colleagues went to school with him and was talking about him this morning apparently Bain (or should that be Vain?) fancied himself (as a bit of a model) when younger and actually appeared in 'Jackie' magazine !!! says it all.......... FUD
  4. its not only shite passing........ why is it that nobody makes any runs off the ball, thinks about working triangles, giving options etc ? they just stand there waiting for a ball that doesnt quite reach them throw ins are the worst everybody just stands around waiting for the ball make f*cking space for yourself.....this a fundemental skill for a footballer, that and kicking the ball in a desired direction both of which we seem to lack
  5. this is something that has bugged me for a long long time regarding rangers and its got worse over the last year....... we are all in agreement that we should have taken care of Kaunus but there were absolutely no positives coming from the management team on the run up to the second(and indeed first leg) now, im no physcologist but surely, irrespective of what you feel deep down, a public show of confidence can only benefit even the most woeful team i would love to see rangers management come out and state 'we're going to care of them, we're glasgow rangers' instead of 'we need to be wary, they are the lithuanian champions' nonsense. we should have pumped them, we should have said we would be pumping them and the players might we'll have thought 'right, lets get stuck into this shower of shite' instead of worrying about the damage some hearts rejects could cause....... id much rather have egg on my face once in a blue moon than get into a spiral of negative thinking i believe this is what f*cked us up last season when the wheels came of the bus and we won only 3 out of the 21 games following the CIS cup (which we would have lost had it not been for a shocking back pass) and we got nearer the end of the season the management kept publicly banging on about the amount of games to be played, the need to extend the season, etc etc they should have went about all the political gerrymandering in private and publicly said 'its not a problem, we'll deal with it, its what success brings, we dont need your f*cking help, we'll manage on our own, no probs!' instead we got everybody feeling sorry for themselves and players saying 'its hard but we'll manage' when they should be saying 'whats the problem, this is what dreams are made of' to put it into some context, i was diagnosed with cancer, had shitloads of treatment ending in a bone marrow transplant my attitude was 'f*ck it , its the card ive been dealt, get on with it and stop feeling sorry for yourself' and 15 years on im still alive with a clean bill of health had i adopted the smith policy id have expended too much thought and effort wondering 'what if','why me' or 'if only' and might not be here POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE goes a long way. take note Smith !
  6. deary me muffger thats poor you call yourself a fan.............. wanting a rangers player injured
  7. that just shows how two faced some of our fans are, was he outstanding or have i missed something the same fans who have called him every name under the sun. he is a poor player and the quicker he gets to f--k along with the rest of the usless kunts in the team the better. you ever thought that the boo boys only equate to 1/4 of the support ?......hence 3/4's support the rangers player given the ovation he got, it suggests the majority are willing to give the lad a chance and, whilst they do not necessarilly agree, they can understand why he's been brought in absolutely nothing two faced about that ! the fact half a stadium sang 'you can stick yer kenny miller up yer arse' at the cup final doesn't necessarilly mean half the stadium dont want him in the team its called fitting in(peer pressure), something people withouth independant rational thought (or just plain drunk) do the people who sing along to 'Carlos Cuellar, you are the love of my life' woulnd't actually stand by and let him pump their missus, and if they truly wanted curly hair they could always get a perm......and i aint seen many bubble perms floating around ibrox
  8. showed the same desire to please as Kenny Miller then we wouldn't find ourselves with this situation for the 2nd leg. for obvious reasons miller will bust a gut this season to be accepted, and a standing ovation from 3/4 of the crowd last night when he was substituted was deserved in my opinion truth is, other than Papac, Kenny Miller was the only player to come out of the game with any credit he ran his socks off, was looking to make runs through the middle and both wings, had one good effort saved by the keeper, an awkward one cleared off the line, set up lee mcculloch, put thro' darcheville only for him to round the keeper and miss what started off as an open goal before he trundelled the ball pitifully towards its target and also put in some wicked crosses in both halfs. no other player could say the same last night: with adam, dailly, whittaker and mcculloch being the polar opposite: truly awful in everything they did miller has his critics and is not the 'complete striker', fact is we cant afford the 'complete' striker. given time with the right partner up front he will deliver goals, be it his goals or more likely thro' assists for a complementary strike partner which brings me to the choice strike partner: if your going to play 442 then why play miller and darcheville together? both are similar in stature and style. its obvious to a blind man that velicka or boyd should play alongside miller or darcheville but the management team for some reason choose to play miller alongside darcheville then substitutions result in velicka alongside boyd !!!!!!!!!!
  9. DONT BOTHER!!!! never boo a rangers player I dont care who he is! if your planning on booing him then do me a favor dont come to the games we dont need fans like you lot, i dont want him to sign but i hope he proves us all wrong! Who the f.ck are you to tell anyone what they can and can't do ? I pay my season ticket every year, I travel to watch away games, I buy the shirts and merchandice, I put more into this club than most players do so if I feel like I want to boo (not that i'm saying I will boo Miller) or criticise a player then I will do it. I am the fan that any club wants!! someone who supports the team and does not boo them I do all of the above so get off your high horse your another one of the people on this forum looking to have a debate with someone fed up with all these people moaning and waiting to critise someone's opinion cheer up!!! you certainly think allot of yourself if you put more in to the club than most players!! be asking for your autograph next Oh dear.Your are the fan that any club wants. That's ok then, you sit there and get shafted by Murray every season, listen to his lies every season and probably buy all the merchandise. You are the fan that is killing our once great club. I dont have to listen to murray or his lies and ill buy tops tickets as i am a fan and support my team not murray!! I am not even posting again on the topic most of you guys are fucking miserable and need to cheer up, I cant wait for the season to start up again and always support the players on the park whoever they are as long as they give there all and win games they have my backing and ill follow my club every where sorry as a fan I cant do much more than that! and that is me killing our once great club!! so were no longer a great club piss of will you christ we could sign ronaldo and people like you would still moan about his wages!!!!! get real. You should be getting real my friend,I was probably supporting Rangers before you were born,so don't lecture me on loyalty ?? what has your date of birth got to do with loyalty by that token everybody older than you who support rangers are more loyal i think not you might be older in years but you need to grow up
  10. we were talking abou that last night whilst watching the aberdeen game thank christ for 2 goals - arteta's penalty and mcdonalds v the tims
  11. your missing the point of the post, its about debating questionable alterations its 'why change the full back?' not about 'bring back kirk' you only change if you can improve the position especailly for the last game of the season dailly has proved over a no. of years that he is a defensive midfielder and NOT a full back surely if he was then he'd have been right back since he came to the club to widen the discusson on debatable decisions why play right sided people down the left side and vice versa when logic would swap them over thinking of mcolloch and novo v motherwell for example, where both were palyed on the wrong wings also play whittaker right back and stevie smith at left back once he'd returned or retain Papac then mccolloch or adam could (when fit) play left midfield - its called balance if your going to play square pegs in round holes then try and keep it to a minimum
  12. whats that supposed to mean ? hardly living in the past ruminating over a player selection from a game played less than 14 hours ago by following your rationale this discussion board would only talk about stuff that might happen in the future gies a break...............
  13. why the hell was Broadfoot dropped in favour of Dailly last night? never been a fan of big Kirk but he has improved over the course of the season alan hutton he aint but at least the big man is willing to bomb up and down the wing and can get to the by line and occasionally gets in some good crosses in fact over the last 4 or 5 games he's proved to be better than i gave him credit not the best fullback (converted centre half) we have had but certainly not the worst which brings me to Christian............ Dailly on the other hand just rounds around like a headless chicken looking to clatter anybody within a 10m radius and when looking to pass or cross he invariably f*cks it up he's certainly not a right back as last nights game proved so what was walter thinking? also why throw fleck on? token gesture towards the youth set up and not particulary fair on the young man some baffling selections by the management this year it has to be said hopefully it'll get resolved next year - cant have players getting dropped randomly throughout the season for no specific reason other than for changes sake exciting season but ultimately no cigar
  14. this is a bit of a schizoid reply as i try to make sense of the season so stick with me here we've come so far mate its been a funny old season ......... we've got to 3 finals and got to last day of league yet have played to a pretty unentertaining standard generally i personally think its been a disappointing end which could well have been avoided had we lost the league on the last day having been level pegging with THEM then it would probably be a slightly easier pill to swallow its the manner of capitulation that is hard to accept - its the fact we've let it slip from our grasp which is so disappointing but these things can happen in football had it not been for the current management team we wouldn't have got to where we are so quickly HOWEVER it has to be understood that we've got to where we are, in the main, by preventing others playing well against us perhaps that was inevitable given the players to hand and the timescales involved the problem is the perceived succesful formula was not a winning formula first half of the season it appeared to pay dividends so why mess around with a succesful formula? the problem was/is that whilst a team ethic got us so so close, we also relied heavily on luck cis cup final down and out till dodgy back pass again playing united in league dodgy backpass umpteen games ineurope we rode/made our own luck the list could go on....... at some point luck will desert you and thats when you need to up your game problem is it became obvious our early success was a virtue of our tried and tested formula but ultimatley the game plan has failed when it came to going for it we simply couldnt change up the gears, habit had taken a grip and route one became the only option crucially we had no plan B and thats the bottom line better palyers means better options and im sure if we get some decent signings in the summer we'll look back on this season as the stepping stone thanks lads for the effort, just wasn't enough...........................
  15. i knew there would be trouble, felt the atmos change from about 6pm onwards, prob cause the drink was kicking in and the idiots were getting restless as soon as the screen flashed up the messages we said 'right lets get out of here asap' did seem a bit sus that it was the only screen that wasn't receiving any feed in manchester and it was way too busy, there would have been a lot of casualties had rangers scored so the stewards story makes a lot of sense if he's being straight up i have no reason to doubt him as he pretty much says what i saw and felt however his statement We then hit quarter to 8, and the square is rammed with Rangers fans, singing and watching the big screen for the adverts to end and the game to start is bollocks as there was nothing on the screenfor a good few hours beforehand, maybe he just didnt notice as he was busy doing his job
  16. i accept thats your opinion mate but for a start .... it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out why the focus was on the commotion at picadilly - thats where the screens went down and the trouble kicked off 1% or 100% is irrelevant, the fact is it happened and there should be no excuses - these tits that rioted have destroyed the reputation of our club and there is no honour in arguing that The Sun got there facts wrong just makes it more unbelievable that trouble erupted before we got beat - also if you check the timing on the CCTV footage the majority of the battling with the cops was after the game hence the headlines if they hadnt rioted there wouldnt have been the headlines - simple as that doesnt matter a f*ck that the screens went down - that doesnt give anybody the right to throw bottles at fans and police, start fighting, charging etc i imagine the loss of picaddily gardens was the Police's worst nightmare and certainly not their fault we werent happy at the prospect of missing the game but reacted in a civil manner, moaned like f*ck and worked on a plan B which meant we managed to catch 65mins of the match and didnt disgrace the club and/or get truncheoned whilst you might have had a fantastic experience that aint gonna sell newspapers! instead of trying to point fingers at others, deflect blame or pick out errors in news reports lets look at the overall picture, realise that the mindless majority have f*cked it right up, concentrate in ensuring this never gets repeated - provoked or not and start rebuilding our now tarnished reputation this should have been a moment to bask in - win or lose - and we've blew it they should be ashamed and thats FACT
  17. some folk need to take their blue tinted specs off and accept that most of the accounts of events are honest observations yes, there will be wind up merchants but the vast majority of the stories on this, and other boards, will be a true record of what happended the make up of rangers fans is no different to that in society, ie there will be an element of moronic arseholes bottom line is when you get so many people crammed into one area there will be problems, add drink and its a firecracker waiting to go off and the faulty screen lit the fuse HOWEVER, there is absolutely no defence for what happened: as the topic posted stated there were bottles and cans, full cans at that, being thrown amongst the fans a full can of beer launched 40 feet up into the air will have the same effect as a lobbed brick on the poor bastard on the receiving end i saw one guy launch a f*cking back pack with cans in it high into the crowd, and all of this happened BEFORE it became obvious that the screen wasnt working these are fellow rangers fans for christ sake as for taking a piss, there was little option as Manchester authorities thought it would be a good idea to stick the portaloos all in the one corner at Picadilly Gardens, instead of placing them at each corner - and just to make matters worse the location they did choose was right next to one of the busy entry points given it was taking an hour and a half to get to the bogs folk had little choice but to relieve themselves but this is where the morons set themselves apart any decent human being, sober or not, would try and be descrete, use your flag or borrow someones or get your mates to cover you while you piss into an empty bottle that way you're: a. not waving your cock about when there are women and children around and b. your not splashing urine over fellow supporters empty or discard the bottle discretely - not ideal i know but better than disgracing yourself in public its all about doing the right thing and unfortunately some havent got a clue how to conduct themselves and have little regard for others conditions and circumstance weren't great but we've let ourselves down big time and i for one am extremely disappointed thursday's headlines should have been all about the football team AND not the fans hard lines Walter and the lads, your efforts were greatly appreciated, its a pity an element of the support lack your dignity
  18. your links not working whats the hotel/apartment name? we've got tuesday booked but cant get anywhere on the wednesday evening i'll maybe try them on the unlikley off chance
  19. try the Britannia Hotel in the City Centre mate we got 3 twin rooms for the tuesday night (breakfast included) and it would seem its about 5mins malk max. from proposed fan zone in picadilly gardens not sure if they'll have rooms available on the tuesday now but they had quite a few left at the weekend good luck :bouncy:
  20. this is really starting to get on my tits surley whoever it is in Manchester who is responsible for this kind of thing must arrange for showing the game on big f*ck off screens id imagine the pubs, grateful as they might be for all the punters, will be pushing for this as well as there is a fine line between being busy and making money and losing complete control - no matter how well behaved fans are, if you squeeze in 200% of the intended capacity the place will get damaged we went to dortmond a few years back for a scotland game and the place was heaving, you couldnt actually move in pubs and guys were bringing their own crates of beer in to the pubs anybody got any insider knowledge of what might be in the pipeline? at the very least surely Cinemas could open up and charge say £10 to show the game reckon we'll need all the help we can get to see the bloody thing! was mention in a sunday paper(cant remember which) that there was a area 30mins from stadium which was showing on big screens but it was a ticket affair - anybody any idea is this is true and where the f*ck it is?
  21. 6 of us heading down tuesday morning in people carrier, staying in Manchestercity centre Britannia hotel on the 13th May, we all get drunk tuesday night designated driver stays sober, the rest have a drink on Wednesday, watch the match (somewhere), drive back up the road on wednsday night thought being if we win it'll be f*ckin great journey back up the road, if we lose we'll want to get home asap anyway think the britannia hotel still has rooms left on the tuesday night if anybody fancies doing the same :unionflag:
  22. I think you are thinking of Zizkov mate, in 2002-03 when we got knocked out in the first round of Europe and went on to win the treble. We got beaten 2-0 away and beat them 2-0 after 90 mins at Ibrox and lost on away goals after extra time as we both scored one more goal. forgot about that one till you mentioned it - Klos nearly scored from a corner in the 119th min if my memory serves me right one of the most exciting euro games ive been at ibrox for, pity we got put out showing my age here, i was thinking about the game way back in 1991 - think it was an own goal that put us out - we won 2-1 but a goal in extra time f*cked us right up either way, still sh*te ! unless we go thro' on thursday after extra time - then i'll no give a f*ck about the rule :bouncy:
  23. something which has always p*ssed me off about the away goals rule (although we could benefit next thursday) is how the away goals rule still counts in extra time which aint fair on the home team why should the away team gain an advantage merely from the luck of the draw like i said, we can benefit from this stupid rule next week but i seem to remember we got turfed out by sparta prague(?) at home a number of years ago because of it
  24. anybody know if there any bars in Playa Blanca/Puero Rubicon, Lanzarote which show Setanta as im flying out on thursday and will miss the old firm match otherwise whenever i search on google i always seem to come up with is irish bars which clearly aint my first choice for watching an old firm game any leads will be greatly appreciated
  25. enough with all this 'the white cafu' nonsense if we are going to liken hutton to the best ever full back in the world then at least come up with a tag which: a. rhymes and b. makes reference to the gers so i reckon alan hutton should be known from now on as 'THE BLUE CAFU' :bouncy: also means if he goes through a poor spell then the taigs cannae change the nickname from 'the white cafu' to 'the sh*te cafu'
