Another long throw not defended properly.

His movement is abysmal, yet to see him receiving the ball with a yard of space to run into, all to often he's static standing next to a defender.

Another poor 45, sadly getting used to it now.

To much of the game has consisted of getting the ball wide to Matondo and hoping for the best.

There's a temptation to rest players for the midweek, but a lot of them still need minutes together to try and get some understanding. Hoping for strong starting 11, game wrapped up for halftime and use all subs second 45.

Good first 20 and an excellent last 15 in between was a bit concerning. Looked much better after the subs. Danilo was finding more space once Dessers went off, not sure the partnership has a future. Pleased for Butland today, couple of decent stops and a clean sheet

Comfortable now with the introduction of some pace. Now was that a tactic from Beale to bring them on when the game is a bit more stretched or just good fortune.

This is one of those days. Three on two breakaway doesn't even result in a shot and then throwing themselves to block a goal bound shot.

Really need a goal early doors second half. They'll get a big chance at some point.

After a good start, the last 20 mins of the half was brutal to watch. We cannot string anymore than two passes in a forward area. Dessers and Danilo struggle to find any space and Lammers as well taken as his goal was has been invisible for large parts. Cantwell at the moment is the team, the rest are waiting for him to create all the openings.

Cantwell is the only player moving off the ball and available for a pass.

First 30 mins mid week was a big improvement. But the second half against 10 men in a defensive block is what we will face in most domestic games and although we did create a couple of openings, it was hard work and painful at times to see us struggling to move the ball at speed and create space. Think it will be another long afternoon. Hope Cantwell is fit and Cifuentes starts.

I thought he done ok last season but to an extent the team selection and tactics were dictated to him due to our horrendous injury list. He perhaps now has to many options and is struggling to get the message over to build up to an overall style of play. This is where experience of being the man in charge comes in and that's one thing he doesn't have is a depth of experience as a manager. Personally I think he is in the wrong place to learn on the job and that will see him being replaced before the year is out.

Biggest issue with pre season and Saturday is the lack of any real identity in what Beale wants the team to do. Yes we have new players and five of them started so you can excuse some disjointed play. I can only recall our second against Hoffenheim as a glimmer of hope. Moved the ball quickly good movement of the ball for Lammers to score. That's it! Last season and during the summer Beale talked about meeting players to discuss what he wants from then and how they fit into the system. So it looked like he had a clear vision on how this would look, and to a certain extent players were arriving pre loaded with how our play should look. He had a full pre season with all of those that started and it was abysmal, a poor pitch only goes so far as an excuse. We looked abject, lacking in energy and very weak in the physical side of the game. On a side note I think we should have played some pre season games against a lower opposition to get an idea of how our system against a low block would look. All our games were fairly open and probably more in line to get ready for champions league qualification.

For all his faults his goals per game was decent but he could be so frustrating to watch. Between Sakala, Colak, Airfield and Morelos that's a lot of goals that just left the club. The new signings better start finding the back of the net soon.

I feel we saw the best of Cantwell last season only when Tillman dropped out injured. Before that he played slightly deeper and didn't have the same influence on the game. Looks like the same issue could develop with Lammers in the team.

He came out with an equally bizarre quote at the media conference - "Kilmarnock didn't need any quality to score". So basically any ball into the box regardless of quality could be undefendable for this team.
