It is baffling to say the least, even trying out Fleck or Naismith or Healy up front, changing the holding midfielder, but at 1-0 he just thought fine we'll hang on and hold this and you're just asking for trouble doing that. Walter has always been a fairly defensive minded, sort of dull grampa type person but some of the comments hes making nowadays does actually have me wondering if he's going senile. I also wonder, sitting way up there in the stand he doesnt really contribute much anymore from the sidelines and he looks bored half the time they show him.

If we attack on Sunday, we will win, that is both the way to play against the tims and to me the only way our team can play, because we sure as hell can't sit in and defend. If we defend and invite them onto us we'll get hammered because that is the way Lemons team play and we simply can't allow them to do that and make them look better than they are yet again. I can't remember offhand who was on the bench, but when it was clear Lafferty was having a mare, would not any other manager have looked at that and thought right, 30 minutes to go lets get him off and see what someone else can do. I keep repeating myself, but I think it's a valid point, that Walter still thinks he has a team that can sit back and play out a 1-0 win and the fact is, this team just can't do that. And why oh why can he not see that Weiss can rip mazy runs through the centre of the park but does nothing out wide because I cant even remember the last time he hit the byeline and put in a cross and isn't that what wingers do? Well it was in my day And he'll moan about the players playing too many games, then does nothing about it. I hate to criticise Walter but the fact is, despite everything he's won in the past, the past is gone this is now. I guess none of us know what goes on his head but I remember Advocaat getting a lot of stick from people because of the Dutch clique and playing favourites but at least his team could actually play football.

Because Walter Smith is the guy who picks the team and if players are playing pish, as they are, why are they still being picked week after week? because Walter Smith sets the tactics and I dont know about anyone else but when I see us actually have the balls to attack, we actually seem as if we can hurt teams (well we do when Jelavic is playing), but when we sit back and try to defend we get screwed over this team cannot do that and the only person who seems unable to see this is Walter Smith. Because, when finances were and are tight, Walter point blank refused to blood promising young players in matches where we were ahead and coasting, ergo meaning those players didnt get the experience, didnt get the chance to show if they were good or pish and means we have a smaller squad to work with than might have had. Which then leads Walter Smith to moan about the lack of resources in the squad or players being worn out, which seriously you would have to ask exactly why that is when a 40 year old guy can play week after week and not look worn out. Walter has achieved a lot for this club, and history will show that but no-one is bigger than Rangers and Walter's sell by date is sadly long gone. Of course, he could prove us all wrong and bring home the quadruple.

The way some of our players attempt to 'play' at times its hardly surprising if Diouf looks confused or frustrated but he's only played a couple of games and is still getting used to the team and players. Shows more than enough effort and skill and for anyone to say he looked half arsed or whatever.. well seriously, get a grip.

He doesn't have the ability to be a striker. No composure, poor reactions, very little skill. He might be ok as a foil type player for someone else to play off, but as far as I can remember he doesn't exactly have a fantastic scoring ratio and tonight I guess we saw why. I mean, all players have off games but good ones generally also have 'on' ones.
