  1. The original reduction to a 10 team league, back in 1975 or 76 I think, was the start of the death of scottish football. It seemed at the time that the system worked because we had the sheep and the dundee scum winning the title, but that would have happened anyway probably because at that point Rangers were hitting a slump, the tims werent all that great either. It's bound to happen. But what did happen was, a lot of clubs who, in a normal 18 team league might have a bad season and end 14th, suddenly found themselves in a lower division and no matter what you name it, a lower division is a lower division. People won't pay to see it as much, tv isnt interested and the pressure on clubs at the top is too immense. Remember in the fifties the tims twice finished outside the top 12 - in fact they came pretty close to relegation at least once I think? The other bad side effect of a smaller league, therefore bringing more pressure on clubs who cant afford to be relegated is it hinders youth development. If you have so called meaningless end of season games, these are the games youth can safely be given a run out, with very little pressure indeed. The fact is, Rangers and to a lesser degree Celtc will always dominate Scottish football no matter the size of the league. Reducing an already poor product back to an even smaller league wont make that product better and it wont make it more appealing to sponsors, tv etc. The fact as well being that most football fans actually seem to want a bigger league. But as usual, who listens to the fans, the people who actually, when all is said and done, pay the overinflated wages of those involved in the game.
  2. Well there's been so many times when we've said, that will be a kick up the arse for the players and it never seems to be. Only they can answer why that is. It's bad enough losing to that mob when we play well and are unlucky or they truly have some decent players and deserve their win. Ok perhaps they deserved their win, because in the end they scored they goals, but we didn't play well, they didn't play well - they look an abortion of a team to me, they have nothing to offer anything and any decent side would rip them to shreds.
  3. Interestingly enough, he had even shaved and wore a tie today, wonders never cease. However, it's not about Lemon, or anyone else for that matter, it's about those who lost their lives, and I don't really think they would care about a bigot not being on the centre circle to remember them.
  4. I've probably seen worse, but not for a very long time. Total lack of guts, imagination and desire. Or as Jock Wallace would have put it, a total lack of character, before booting some arses out the door.
  5. Well tbh we won't be getting far in the Europa with the squad anyway so atm I don't think its something to worry about. The league is very much there still to be won, and we are still in the driving seat - but a lot depends on the players actually going out and doing what they are paid to do.
  6. How can you blame the Europa league when we haven't even played any games in that yet? It's all down entirely to the attitude of the players, which has been pretty poor at times throughout the season. It seems to take them an age to actually wake up in games, and even against a pish poor Celtc side you just can't do that. I suppose Walter will blame a lack of matches - when just a few weeks ago of course he was saying the players were knackered. The only bright spot is Jamie Ness, hasn't been flawless but has shown some nice touches and looks as if he could be a decent player if he gets a chance. We badly miss Naismith and thats the difference - they might well have six or seven players out but they have a squad of about 100 players! Ah well, win our games in hand we're still two points clear and both sides I expect will drop points so its not over yet. Even if it damn well should be.
  7. Disgraceful performance really and not one single player who can hold their head up. Letting this manky shower of pish walk all over us. Makes you wonder what goes through players heads sometimes.
  8. Personally I'd take Weiss off and go with Lafferty/Miller throught the middle. Thats when Walter actually wakes up and makes the change, its taken 15 minutes so far ffs.
  9. Thats been coming for ages now, shocking performance so far from Rangers, they need to wake the fuck up.
  10. Thought we started well, first fifteen minutes or so, then after that it's been a pretty dire match tbh. We should be romping this, they are the shittiest Celtc side I've probably ever seen.
  11. Lets hope Weiss can build on his last game and tear these bastards a new arsehole. Ness will do well, and it's an unexpected card. We should win, we're a far better team.
  12. I think Lemon wants to go down in history as having the biggest ever squad in Scottish football. He seems desperate to sign up anyone that moves. I can just see the headline come the summer, Lemon makes 100th signing. And still ends up without a trophy.
  13. The stadium holds what, 61,000? And it looks well less than a third full, so if 18,000 they would be lucky tbh. Although the bbc figure probably includes season ticket holders, the number should be the number through the turnstiles, thats the attendance. Besides, they can try and pretend all they want, but everyone can see how empty it is. I turned a stream just for a few minutes (because fuck knows why anyone would actually want to watch those bastards) just because people said the crowd was low, and it certainly was.
  14. Ok so whose stolen the real Walter Smith? TWO unforced subs by the 70th minute
  15. It definately was, but I always feel more disappointed than angry. The other team in the Semis was Austria Vienna and had we beaten Koln, we would surely have had a great chance of beating any of those three sides. I always felt that, for the original scheduled match everyone was really built up and expectant, but when it was called off it was just ... something unexplainable.. and in the end we lost out a tie we should have won. Was really sad.
  16. Game was delayed and was actually shown live on TV. At the time, Koln were actually about to go home when the game was originally called off - so rumours went anyway - but UEFA rules stated they had to wait and see if the game could be played next day, which sadly it was. That was the season we had beaten one of the best Juve sides ever, humped PSV on their own pitch 3-2 with one of the greatest goals ever by Bobby Russell. PSV had never, as far as I remember, lost a European match at home at that point and also had an amazing array of talent. Of course who knows what would have happened if the game had gone agead originally as planned, but I always felt we could have have won the cup that year, you only have to look at the last four to see why. John Grieg's first year in charge, without two slices of extremely bad luck - I think the freak weather was bad luck - he could have walked off with a quadruple and how then would history have changed.
  17. Klos was a great keeper no doubt about that, and McGregor is definately starting to push up there, but there is no doubt in my mind that Goram is one of the best keepers ever in the world. I admit to being biased, but he was imo the best when he was at his peak.
  18. I think Regan looks like a tim tbh, so on that basis alone he should be sacked. The SFA have had plenty of time to deal with Celtc bringing the game into disrepute on a number of occasions this season alone yet we still wait any punishment. Celtc think Regan is 'someone they can work with' hmmm I wonder why?
  19. And interestingly in the same piece on the site, Frank McGarbage says: It's time for Celtic fans to move on for the sake of Scottish football," he said. "People at Celtic should be talking about how they will win the league, not about conspiracies. There are no conspiracies. I've been there. "I played for Celtic at Ibrox when we were 2-0 down at half-time and got two penalties in the second half, one when one of our players hadn't been touched.
  20. Totally agree with the opening post. Arrogance and smugness is what these idiots are filled with at the moment, but the eyes of the footballing world will be on them. Does anyone honestly think that the next time a major decision goes again the tims they will calmly accept it? And whilst some doom and gloom merchants on here seem to think 'it's all working in the tims favour' personally I think they are setting themselves up for a huge fall, and it will come sooner than many think. There can be no more bringing of the game into disrepute, because Regan and the other tossers in charge of the SFA must realise how close they are to losing their jobs. Every single club in Scotland will now be out to get Celtc at the first opportunity, and lets not forget, its the clubs who, when all is said and done, run the SFA. The same clubs who have lost a lot of money because of one team's antics.
  21. As others have said, MacDonald brought this on himself. Whilst his lies didn't actually affect the outcome of the game and the call he actually made was correct, nevertheless his behavious compromised his position as a refree. Regan should also go. He has been an absolute embarrassment the way he handled this affair, and not only has he failed to bring about the punishments that Neil Lemon and Celtc richly deserved, not only has his incompetance led to our refs - no matter how bad they are, we still need them - going on strike, the SFA was also found to have been lying to the incoming officials and as chief of that organization he should either resign or be sacked. Celtc will get their come-uppance of that one thing I am very sure. Give them enough rope, and they will hang themselves. Anyone watching and listening to this whole debacle throughout, who isn't wearing green tinted spectacles, knows the truth and since the tims now think they are untouchable, they will eventually push things too far - imo they already have, and if we had an SFA chief who even had one ball never mind two, they would have been punished already. The Celtc paranioa is going to bring the crumbling down.
  22. Sheep lost as well, so they're going down. Lets have foreign refs everyweek!
  23. They're just going to play all Saturday's matches, referee'd by the guy from Luxembourg, who'll be watching via video
  24. That's an interesting point about the Israeli's needing a workpermit, they aren't on this list. http://www.workpermit.com/uk/work_permit/who_needs.htm Unless they are not being paid directly by the SFA, which may be a way round that?
  25. If the SFA/SPL had any bottle and integrity themselves, they would have nipped this in the bud the moment the first person from celtc came out and questioned the integrity of refs. I cannot see how a club can remain in membership of the SFA, if they are also, without evidence, accusing the SFA of institutional bias against them. Everyone in the whole world can see this, except the few who actually matter.
