I think yer memory is fine mate. Pretty sure this was my first game at Ibrox, and we had already won the league. Greig went round the track in the chariot before the game against Airdrie which we lost 0-1.
Incredible really. He was my favourite player of the time, and one game that sticks out in my memory was the night we battered the sheep 6-1 in a midweek game (Possibly league cup?) at Ibrox and Russell destroyed them.
Was lucky enough to be there as I'm sure the capacity was 44k due to construction. All I remember was the Centenary stand (Which we normally didn't sit in) was absolute bedlam that night. Went to PSV and Cologne on the Tradeston bus the next two rounds and I was the youngest on the bus as a youthful 14 year old.
Anyone who believes that the OP is actually some young girl from Armadale is as deluded. Armadale, Woman ,1st post..........Blah blah..... Taigs must try harder. Big Jock Knew.
Defo not mate. Me and my old man had tickets for the main stand and we moved behind the goal where the terracing and the Rangers supporters were. Remember the giant digital clock counting down the minutes.
Yeah, I went with the Castle street True Blues. Mental trip. Lucky enough to be at the PSV 2-3 game in the late seventies, but was only 14 at the time so couldn't really enjoy it. Recently; PSG away was good, as was the Gateshead Cup or whatever it was called. Feyenoord was pretty mental too.
Was lucky enough to be present at the Drybrough Cup final to see both the Cooper goal and Jardine's which was also a peach of a strike! My top two are McCoist at Elland road and Bobby Russell in Eindhoven(My first Euro away game) The quality of the moves as well as the importance of these matches does it for me.
Incredible night. My first ever away game in Europe........What a debut! Atmosphere wise, the 2-0 win against Juventus in the previous round was imho the best ever European night at Ibrox. The Centenary stand was bedlam that night.
I'd go back to the seventies/early eighties tomorrow. 5-3 game at fir park, 1980 cup final battle, Villa park, Bohemians in dublin, the list goes on.........................Great times! A lot more camaraderie back then and no one would fuck with us.
Don't know about the "Penny Arcade" situation, but yer man Douglas Alexander made some shit hot Bowie suits during the early eighties (St Enochs I think!)
