  1. If we get hit with the transfer embargo, thats all we have plus the under 18s?
  2. TUPE is designed to protect employees during organisational change. If Green decided that from now on every Rangers goal-keeper gets £5k a week, McGregor's original contact would have to be honoured. My personal opinion is it is a bit of both; opportunism by players to use a free transfer to make more money and possibly play in a better league, and also the general mess we are in. The league kicks off in 5 weeks and we don't know what league we will be in, what sanctions will be imposed on us. As much as I would love to see players being 'loyal', they are professionals with ambition.
  3. Any time they have been interviewed or asked about football they say they are killie fans. maybe in private the singer is a rangers fan tho
  4. I would take none of their players. Aluko has at times shown a bad attitude
  5. Glad to hear the fans were singing his name. His form has generally been very poor, and his confidence has clearly gone as well. If he continues to play we should try and not groan we does something wrong (vary hard I know) but at the end of the day it's not going to help him improve
  6. Its a fairly negative topic to post when the league is still there to be won. If we don't win the league it is down to the impact the financial problems are having on us. Ideally a year or so ago, we would have started to reshape the team for the future by creating a younger core group of players which could be fleshed out with some squad players. We have not been able to do this. We have kept on players who probably should have left by now, the squad has been aging and this season we have been stretched as far we can go. If it wasnt for a handful of loan signings and a few younger players stepping up we would have no actual squad. As Walter admitted, he spent most of the money on quality (Jelavic) rather than buy 4/5 players who cost £1m or under. If we had went for that kind of quality, there would be no guarantee of 2nd place let alone 1st (IMO).
  7. I am in agreement with those that say the term itself is not offensive, but its the context in which its used that will lead to people taking offence or being arrested. If I were to discuss the Fenian movement for research purposes, then the word is clearly not offensive. If I open my door and call a guy in a celtic top a 'Fenian bastard', then I have clearly used it to cause offenc You can apply this to pretty much anything - 'fat' for example. There are probably nicer words to describe being overweight, but there is a difference in me discussing people being fat in the West Coast of Scotland, and me calling someone a 'Fat bastard'
  8. The police can pretty much interpret anything as a breach of the peace, so singing a sectarian song alone will get you done
  9. No, it was a conspiracy by Rangers fans. A Rangers fan shouted it to make out it was a Celtic fan, but the Celtic fans were behaving and singing football related songs to back their team.
  10. Note at 5 seconds the sectarian abuse being hurled at weiss from the celtic end. oh wait, it was a celtic fan shouting it so it doesnt count as sectarian. Brilliant from Weiss. Skill and pace in abundance, best years ahead of him and passion for rangers - really what more is needed for us to do everything we can to sign this boy.
  11. Would be great if he signed the new deal, tremendous keeper. I would not be offering him the captaincy for a couple reasons, the main one being a captain should be a great role model on and off the pitch. Unfortunately his behaviour off the park (most recently the rangers xmas night out)means in my opinion, he isn't a suitable candidate for captaincy. I am also not the greatest fan of goalkeepers being captains. .
  12. Hate to criticise our own players, but I have never been convinced by Edu but had been hoping he would get better with experience and coaching etc. Unfortunately he is not good enough for us - I actually felt sorry for him yesterday - he was absolutely terrible, to the point he probably wanted subbed. I agree with the posters who said we waited too long to take him off. We badly needed someone on-form and capable of stepping up against celtic to help davis, who is expected to do everything.
  13. I often think that we are asking to Davis to be a midfield general which doesnt come natural to him. I think he would be better alongside a general, but unfortunately we dont have one at the club right now, so we are expecting Davis to do pretty much everything. Its a pity him and Ness havent had a good run together in the middle. They are by far our most technical players and both get about the pitch and tackle.
  14. Money is his main goal by the sounds of it - can't blame him! The Premiership will earn him at least treble his wage here, but also give him a higher quality of football. The other countries he talks about are not known for their quality, but are known for paying mega-bucks. He must be sick of Scottish football too - Hamilton 6/7 times last season, Celtic 7 times this season

  16. I think he is a decent prospect. He must be about 6ft 2/6ft 3 and he makes runs into the box
  17. I'm not disputing the fact he would be on the outskirts of their squad. I just think that if City believe Weiss is a good young talent, but one that will never be a first team player, their first option will be to cash in on him. If they cant sell him for whatever reason, then they would need to determine what is their best option; put the player on loan for yet another season, making him feel further disconnected to City, or to take him back into their own squad and try to improve him using their own coaches, building on any experience he has built up etc In an ideal world, City will sell him to us for a few million, and no big hitters from the Pshp will compete with us!
  18. I dont want us to get our hopes up about Weiss and Bartley. I cant think it would be too productive for City to loan Weiss out for what - 2 and 1/2 consecutive seasons? Bartley is in a similar situation. I think City/Arsenal will either sell the players or insist they stay to re-integrate with the club that actually owns them. Both will cost millions plus pretty high wages, and we would probably be up against a good few English teams to sign them
  19. I hope the players werent singing that. It will be used by them as a motivator.
  20. From his first few outings I thought he had a heavy touch and would need a lot of work to become a first team player. Against PSV and today he has show he has an excellent delivery, which can really add a huge dimension to our play. The way he attacks fullbacks reminds me of Lovenkrands (i.e. neither really have a trick or great skill, so trying and turn it into a running contest). He is young enough to work on things like that, so hopefully he will become a star for us!
  21. Every player fought hard and kept the head. We might lack some quality, but the dig was there to be seen
  22. I dont really see how that looks positive towards celtic. We've beat them, won a trophy and in the process stopped any chance of them getting all the trophies. watp!
