I'd love to see us making the marquee signings we were making 10 - 15 years ago, but we have to face facts that we cant even compete with the likes of Hull and Stoke for transfer fees and wage demands. It is a gutting realisation, but I think the only quality we'll see is either young potential, or ex-quality players In the latter stages of their careers. It's a big price tag, but I still think that Walter sees Lafferty as a player with potential, rather than a certain first team player. Even though he cost a lot, Walter will hope to look back, say three years down the line and say "Yes Lafferty cost 4 million, but if you look at his contribution over the past three years he has been worth the investment. really? I think If they get good service from the midfield, and especially if we get good width in the side they would be good together. Velicka's strong enough to win headers and work well with boyd IMO.

Only Walter knows, I do think Boyd and Velicka could be the most productive partnership up front though, fuck knows where miller would play?
