  1. We honestly need to sort out the defence . Giving teams a goal every game is going to kill us . A dominant CH for starters .
  2. Exactly. These guys have climbed their Everest last season and seem content with that .
  3. Fantastic what he achieved , particularly since he was brought in to downsize after the expenditure given to Dick Advocaat .
  4. Just my guess , but I reckon he'll come at the start of next season but in the meantime , having failed on negotiating his contract , we just can't talk about it , hence the silence .
  5. I'd probably swap Gazza and Laudrup , but agree with Albertz being a favourite .
  6. Do you not think it might be with him being under contract that we're not allowed to talk about him ?
  7. Got me panicking now. My first trip to Hampden was them beating us in 72 SC replay 2-0 . Don't see it happening again though.
  8. So sorry for the family. I cant think of anything worse than losing a child. Heartbreaking .
  9. Ach , away and throw shite at yersel
  10. I cant see why not . With big games coming up, I'd have thought the sooner the better .
  11. Actually , getting away from the political side of things , and I'm not sure this has been mentioned , but Season Tickets would play a part too . Pre Souness most of us didn't bother with STs , they were actually quite rare , so when the team started performing poorly it was very easy for the attendances to gradually decline . After Souness , STs became more of a necessity and having paid up front for the season it wasn't so easy to just give up .
  12. Yeah , that was the stats I looked up . I'm sure Thatcher was in power till late 90 . Obviously disposable income would be a factor , but if you look at the peaks and troughs its no surprise that successful seasons as well as the excitement of new managers were, by far, the overriding factor in size of attendances .
  13. Had little impact . Once Souness arrived , 4-5 years before she left as PM , our average attendances were over the 35K mark which was the highest since 1970 , during the years which included Callaghan , Heath and Wilson as well as Thatcher .
  14. Keep coming on to see a ' Welcome Home Gio ' topic
  15. Thats just weird , how the fuck do you change teams at that age . Pretty sure one of the guys from Still Game was similar - left Scotland as a Rangers supporter and came back from Canada as one of them . Fuck going to Canada
  16. Nah , the league may have been poor and it wasn't a great time , but we were getting to most Cup finals in the 80s , winning a fair percentage of them as well as competing in Europe . Under Ally we were getting humped by teams that , not that long previously , were Highland or lowland league teams . Even with the state we were in , the players we had should have done a lot better. Personal choice of course, but the Ally years were the worst I have ever faced following Rangers .
  17. In many ways it was enjoyable . Yeah , the league was often over quite early but , I reckon , in between Wallace leaving , first time round , and the arrival of Souness , we were in most Scottish and League Cup finals , probably winning most of them . A trip to Hampden , I thought , was a bit more atmospheric back then , perhaps due to the fact it wasn't all seated . I've not checked , but I think we won a large percentage of European games at Ibrox, we certainly didn't lose many , even if we didn't progress. You also went in to all c....c games optimistic , and gave them a game , no matter what the league table said .
  18. I thought we weren't too bad pre Souness , but you're right Murray 3 game package was ridiculous .
  19. Gio's . I dont think he could have placed that any better when you see the view from behind the goal .
  20. I'm not sure why that would have been - was our crowd limit not 40,000 back then ? Another factor to take in was some poor decision making on pricing . Cant remember the season , but we ended up playing CL games to a half empty stadium because the prices were so extortionate.
  21. We did , which is quite incredible when you think how poor we were in the league most seasons , although tbf , we did have some success in the cups.
