That is just supposition What made us a great club though was our unity, that much I do know - a common belief in social standards and sport entwined as one that set us apart from every other Scottish club. Call it a superiority complex/syndrome if you wish, I'm happy with that I'm not trying to convince others to see it my way, just stating that there are lots of people I know who think similarly to what I do. Sometimes folk feel awkward explaining how they see it due to the PC brigade etc.

jon daly centre half or centre forward?
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to downviewbear's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
If he is brought in as a starting CB then i'd be amazed, may well prove useful there in emergency as by most accounts has performed well there on a fair few occasions -
Rangers Will Disappear Says Platini
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to minstral's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
No retraction/explanation as yet? Should never expect the Press to be looking for answers when we are concerned If this was Celtic the Mhedia would be up in arms, just as they were pre-Juve, you have to laugh -
The Tradition which was important to Rangers fans in the 20's/50's/70's still means a lot to some of us now and I don't believe that should be foresaken, not by myself in any case I respect others opinions but don't feel uncomfortable with my own outlook - being a Rangers fan has never been shameful, why then should we let go of the past then if that is what shaped our club?

I know it's revisionism and I apologise for that bud but we could easily have signed another player of equal quality to do that at the time. Yes, it was something else because it totallly scunnered them which is always magic, particularly when Mo 'won us over' on that day - but as I say it was short term gain and it has left us a support divided - look to the pages of this and countless other threads and the evidence is clear This time my eyes are open, Daly will score a barrowload for us but his legacy may just further dilute what Rangers means to a lot of fans. I'm not sectarian and wish Daly all the best in life. He just shouldn't be playing for Rangers is all

Who should McCoist show the door ?
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to DNW's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
defo keep Shiels, he can't play that badly again and we know he is capable of a lot more Perry can go anyday along with Cribari, if we can get that area sorted then we have the premise of a team that could well go unbeaten next season - although we could have played a lot better that was never realistic last year considering the hand we were dealt. That should be our target, why not aim high we have made a few excellent signings in Bell, Law and Clark? Sadly a few of the younger lads will need to move on, young Aird started well but not sure he will make it now, along with Hemmings and Cole too -
And he should not have been given the permission nor funds to do so in my opinion It took me a few years after Johnston moved on to realise that the thoughts, emotions and feelings I had that day Mo signed (family had been told earlier by a reliable source it was happening but we all collectively laughed and dismissed it at time) were right and true - he belonged nowhere near Rangers That is done and dusted and I can't help but feel Daly is a pure PR signing following events at Berwick. A decent player no doubt, but the wrong guy at the wrong time and done for all the same wrong reasons just as all those years ago. I'm not for selling the clubs intergrity down the river for a few goals once more

It was, because Murray demonstrated just how reckless he could be with Rangers He could easily have picked up someone from abroad to demonstrate a point, but he was looking for maximum impact and he got it - anyone who recalls the aftermath of Mo signing will know exactly what I am talking about Johnston was a top player, and he won people over with his ability but he should never have been a Ranger and I believe the lasting negatives incurred from 1989 far outweigh the immediate positives we gained during his relatively short stint with us
-
I think of myself as a reasonable guy and I know there are plenty out there who see it my way We have become self doubting whereas before we were united in what we deemed correct and suitable for Rangers. Are we now above what was good enough for Struth and Symon, is that where we are headed? Were they wrong in what they saw fit for our club, the standard they upheld?

This thread shows what a shambolic signing Daly has been, the very essence of the club is being pickpocketed and we as fans are sleepwalking through it because the lad is a half-decent player Sold down the river for twenty goals a year, same as the Johnston scenario. And just as with Mo the damage won't resonate until further down the line, still ranks as one of the worst days in our history and was the beginning of the slow process that led to the old company being liquidated Why are we so afraid to be who we are? We have lost our swagger and signing Jon Daly is designed to stifle the fans further Edit to add that I have nothing against these players mentioned personally, players do not choose to join a club without being wanted but I wince looking back at Mo in a Gers top, it was short term gain and still divides us all

Nicky Clark signing now confirmed
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to 1st_Jan_1994's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
The right type of signing Looking forward to seeing both Law and Clark next season, two quality bits of business, as is Bell - looking much better already though some dead wood has to go asap -
The footballing Hughes (ex-Portsmouth) is a huge tim, he's half Italian and like almost all of them follows the dhims - a big Inter fan too.
-
Heard that Ferguson story too, he has done a switcheroo I reckon. Sheena Easton not do it the other way and follow us after supporting them? Someone mentiond Bobby Carlyle not being a true Ger anymore, say it ain't so!! - how did that come about or is it rumour, anybody?
-
Last fucking time Love Is All Around gets an airing on the karaoke - an outrage!!! lol ...we still shouldn't be signing Daly though
-
This was brought up when he and another band member done a draw for a cup competition last year or maybe 'twas 2011, definite Bear
-
Seriously? I had just assumed they were all Rangers men, was/is he a 'Bankie?

Nicky Clark: I’m ready for Rangers move
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to Wilbert's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Excellent prospect, for me this is our most exciting signing post-Whyte Will score a ridiculous amount of goals next season, I reckon 13/14 will be more like what we expected from the season just gone and wouldn't be surprised if we went through it unbeaten - just need a few defenders, I'm sure they will be along shortly as things are moving on now - good signs -
Pretty sure Derek Ogilvie is/was a Gers man
-
Hearts fan when he was younger, but I've always felt he had leanings toward ourselves too Think that English chap that had the wee puppet dog 'Spit' was a Gers man, his name escapes me, he was quite good back in the day. Might have been on Swap Shop I think, or maybe Tiswas?

I'm Here To Win Trophies J Daly Interview
Colonel Walter E. Kurtz replied to Edmiston Drive's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
That last part reads like Soviet propaganda - They'd more likely say "Go take a wide eyed fuck to yourself Jon, cheers son, bye now".
