  1. I actually wouldn't be opposed to hanging Whyte upside down on the walls of Ibrox, and then every time someone walks by him they can give him a cheeky Albertz type kick to the face on their way.......
  2. He screwed us over good and proper. By hanging a portrait of him IMO is in bad taste and unbefitting. I fully appreciate, generally speaking, you can't pick and choose all the good times and all the bad times in history. However, this is clearly the biggest exception in our entire history. The guy is currently under investigation by the police and deserves no place at Ibrox.
  3. I understand his point but I couldn't disagree more. No one will ever forget what Whyte done to our club so we don't need his ugly mug to tarnish our club anymore as a reminder. IMO there should be no portrait of Whyte anywhere near Ibrox and if there is it should be burnt to the ground. History can't be rewritten but would you put up the picture of a rapist in your family living room? Would you fuck! Bad moves IMO.
  4. THEY loom down over the Blue Room like watchful fathers, the portraits of every Rangers chairman in their long history. Custodians of an institution, protectors of what it represented to generations of fans, etched forever on a wall laden with their traditions. But Sir David Murray’s face is the last one casting a glance from the mural – andDave King knows he’ll be the next. What about those who passed in between, though? The men who held the post during the darkest days? The man who liquidated them? Will they be allowed to turn it into a wall of shame, or erased from history, the black sheep of an otherwise proud family? You can bet Walter Smith will be given a pass for his agonising 67 days in the role but Malcolm Murray? David Somers? And, of course, Craig Whyte? Dave King ponders for a moment, then admits their paintings WILL be commissioned – but they’ll be there as a cautionary tale. He said: “I don’t think they merit it but I do think they belong there. When one looks back on the history of Rangers, this will be part of it and I don’t think anyone has the right to self-edit their history. “I think it would be wrong. I didn’t know they weren’t there, quite frankly, but if they are there they’re part of what the club is when we look back.” So at some point Craig Whyte will be there, alongside John Wilson, James Bowie, John Ure Primrose? King shrugged: “History is what it is, good and bad. I think Sandy Jardine once made a suggestion saying he could accept a portrait of Craig Whyte – but we’d have to turn it to face the wall!” Alongside him, Paul Murray – the man handing over the temporary mantel he took on before King was passed fit and proper this week – said: “It’s a serious point. “For all of us as supporters first and foremost, it’s been a tough four years, and it’s important we don’t forget what has happened. “Remembering the various regimes and the things that went on, we have to make sure that never happens again. “And very much part of our plan is to make sure the club will always be safe. It should never have happened in the first place and it’s important we don’t forget that, and learn those lessons.” For King and Murray now, however, the immediate task is to look forward rather than back – and start justifying the fans’ faith in them. Murray admits one of his tasks will be re-establishing a bond with Celtic that, whilst broken for their three-year absence from the top flight, still holds value to both clubs. Asked if they would resume the previous monthly meeting established by Peter Lawwell and Martin Bain to look after their mutual interests, Murray said: “It’s important. We will always compete on the pitch and also for commercial revenue. But there are obviously areas of mutual interest which the clubs have to work on – I guess that’s why they have been called the Old Firm for the past 100 years. “There were good relationships in the past and I see no reason why we can’t have them again. “We’ve not had contact yet but we’ve been trying to sort the board out and sort our plans out, and we’re also in a different league so until we’ve done all that it seemed inappropriate to have discussions. “But certainly when Dave, myself and John Greig were on the board previously, although they were our bitterest rivals on the pitch, we had good relationships with Celtic.” King spoke at length on Thursday without divulging much in the way of detail but he’s hesitant to do so until he knows which tier his team will be playing in next season. Asked if the previous board’s predicted loss of £9million this year still held, he said: “I don’t know the basis of their budget. Maybe they were basing it on 10,000 crowds but if you look at our numbers it will be nowhere near that. “We could be profitable but it will depend on where we are playing. If we are in the Premiership within a couple of months there will be new executives, a new manager – whether it is Stuart or not – and a new team. So there is a different financial requirement. “If Rangers are in the Championship that financial requirement is eased a little because you would have three transfer windows to prepare to go up to the Premiership as opposed to being ready in two months’ time. “So the significance of the next week in terms of our financial plan and what happens business-wise is very different because if we get up the risk factor is far greater whereas if we stay in the Championship it is more managed. “As supporters we want to get up as quickly as we can but the risk profile changes quite dramatically.”
  5. I would say he was a solid 6/7 out of 10. Kept it pretty simple, made blocks, won headers, was positioned fairly well and overall gets definite pass marks for me without being outstanding. I think he also showed a bit of character. Everyone is saying he's done, he's finished, he's useless etc. He must be fully aware of said opinions and comments. Therefore before a ball was even kicked there was an added unnecessary pressure on him. I thought he dealt with it the very best he could with the limitations he has at this stage of his career.
  6. Everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinions, and I will always respect that, and of course, that's what makes debates and forums interesting. It would be boring if we all agreed on everything! That said, and whilst I'm fully aware of McCulloch's deficiencies, I just think for some fans to suggest he's done nothing for us is a little over the top, and IMO just not true.
  7. I suppose you could say he's a Law unto himself, of course.....
  8. Built a stadium. Filled it once. Haha! Think that's even pushing it!
  9. Think it's to do with them beating us today but still ultimately losing!

  17. I think we've all been critical of McCulloch at times, myself included, and rightly so, but any fan to hate him is simply a step too far IMO. Like you, I think it would be the perfect ending, and the best outcome for all parties
  18. Rangers FC ‏@RangersFC 5m5 minutes agoThe Club is delighted to announce that John Greig has been named as Honorary Life President http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/9324
  19. The guy is 37 and has given a lot to the club over the years although you could argue we have given him more, and not just financially. He's been asked to play in a variety of positions and has always given everything. He has never hid, never complained, and has played through the pain barrier on many occasions. At times, more so recently than ever, his best hasn't been quite good enough but IMO, I think some of the criticism has been a little over the top. He's been no worse than the majority of our squad but he's an easier scapegoat than most. Also, let's not forget he has played well for us on several occasions during his time with us, and also given us a fair few happy times. I'd love nothing more than for us to go up, captained by McCulloch and for the big guy to retire at the end of the season, with his head held high and with the majority of the fans thanking him for everything he has done. If it ends that way, I think a lot of his most recent mistakes, performances and errors will be forgotten and we will look back on his career with more cherished memories such as the below.....
  20. Wee post match interview from Law. I kinda became distracted watching this though due to the amount of times he said "of course" Never noticed this before but i'd imagine that's all i'll ever notice anytime he's interviewed again! Thought he played well today too. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/9353-playing-with-confidence
  21. I think it should be a one off however I genuinely think 2 legs suits us far better. I'm therefore really pleased it's over 2 legs.
  22. Fantastic. Couple of needless fouls given away but stick on man of the match for me. Experience was vital. Read everything perfectly and was always in the right position at the right time. Superb.
  23. Wallace man of the match? Big Zal for me. Edit. Oops wrong thread! Too excited!
