  1. His emphasis on value on and off the park, style of play, youth, balanced with experience is genuinely a breath of fresh air. It's what we've all be crying out for and finally, to hear our manager say it, and lay out his plans in this manner is incredibly exciting. He seems really excited and honoured to be here, and the way his face lit up looking at our trophy cabinet, talking about our history and the fans was a delight. This really could be the start of something exciting, and this summer it looks like the 'Transfer Forum' may be the past few years' 'Boardroom Forum'! Long may it continue. Hopefully a few new signings soon too to continue this feelgood factor. Good times all round.....
  2. Great news about Warburton and Weir. Hopefully we can now look forward to exciting times on the park, and hopefully off it too. On face value Cathro would seem unlikely. However, I think we've all learned by now that anything is possible with us. Also, by all accounts Cathro had planned in advanced to leave and return home for family reasons. If he's already in Scotland he may be happy to take up some sort of role just to keep his fingers in it and continue his profile to grow. It could possibly suit all parties, certainly in the short term. Really looking forward to the next few weeks to see who we bring in and how the squad is going to shape up.
  3. Do you think he's good enough to make the step up?
  4. I think it's a tad strange to give him a new contract now without consultation with the new manager. He's at an age where he needs to start playing regular 1st team football and if he's not in the new managers plans then it seems pointless to waste any more money on him. I'd have held off even a week or so longer providing he wasn't close to signing for someone else. I've only really seem him play once and that was in the recent cup final where we got pumped. Can't say I was too impressed but to be fair the whole team were poor that night. Of course that was only one game so I can't just judged him on that. We all have bad days at the office. I'm also fully aware of the plaudits and awards he's received at Airdrie and at international level so hopefully there is a player there and he can enhance the team.
  5. Not sure when we were number 1 or when we sold 500k however Paul Murray claimed last month we sold 500k 15 years ago so on that basis it would have been around 2000. Apparently.
  6. Just had the chance to watch it in full. From what I can remember, trying to be as diplomatic as possible and paraphrasing on a few so don't take everything literally, I got the following: 5 realistic candidates for managerial position. Hope to have an appointment by next week. No favourite. Some potential managers have ruled themselves out based on failure to gain promotion to SPFL. McCall still a candidate. Failure to gain promotion will not be held against him. No definitive figures given but we will do everything we can to gain promotion. Over invest if need be, and speed up the process if need be. Not looking for stop gap signings. Looking for players who can play SPFL next season, not just championship. Potential players to sign have been noted down with assistance from current and ex employees/managers/players. Need to get manager in though to make any decisions. Looking for team to comfortably win Championship. No Director of Football required at this time. All 11 players out of contract have been released. Ally contract still being honoured. Hopes to sell out season tickets. Would bring in around 12-13 million. Meeting in London on Friday regarding listing. Process could be 3-4 months in his opinion. Investment on team would be dependent on season ticket sales/sports direct contract discussions. If less season tickets sold, more would be invested. If all sold out less would be invested. Expects to run at a loss in the short term due to situation ie player overhaul, managerial situation, sports direct contracts, no scouting, infrastructure, in place etc but by 3 years looking for club to be stabilised. Looking for fan investment. No further forward with Sports Direct. To paraphrase if we were clear at the top come December no need to heavily invest in January transfer window. If we were not top however we would invest more to ensure promotion. As a fan King would rather be in SPFL. However, Championship gives us 3 transfer windows to get it right and challenge in SPFL. Doesn't expect to make money out of this. Claims not to have heard of Mark Wotte. My view: I can understand people being underwhelmed, and I can also understand people being positive. Lots of nice things said but not a lot of substance, or clear concise plans revealed. I'm sure we can all argue them in finer detail 'till the cows come home and I'm sure many will, but quite simply, IMO, the next few weeks will be defining. A new manager and the rebuild of our squad should be well on the way, and dependent on who we get in, and what type of investment is being made we will truly know what our future holds, and whether this Board really are all they are made up to be. The time for talking is almost over, and there will be no more places to hide. If, in the next 2-4 weeks, we have a new manager of a respectable calibre in place, players of a significantly higher level, and clear plans given about scouting, infrastructure, etc then I for one will be a lot more satisfied. And I think quite frankly, this is what we all want. Let's hope we get it.............
  7. I think it would be foolish to give a specified figure. If you have a pot of x pounds and other teams are aware of it they will always continue to drive the price up. Providing substantial investment is made, which I think and hope it will, that's all that matters.
  8. It'll just be my luck that he'll fuck it! It's almost been fucked many times none more so with the drama queen Serena Williams these past two weeks! If Murray were to win Wimbledon I'd be annoyed but I can deal with it. Be pissed a lot more if it was anyone else!
  9. Just need the gamesmanship wanker Djokovic to win Wimbledon for around 4 grand.
  10. The disrespect shown to Atletico over the past few years has been embarrassing. Even when they recently played Real people were talking as if they were some team of minnows despite having a superior record over Real over that period of time. I think most football fans know how good Atletico are but there are still some stupid media types who never evolve. Even those who make stupid comments when Messi misplaces a pass like he never does it. He does a lot! Still a phenomenon obviously but come on stop making stupid statements!
  11. Rakitic doesn't really get the plaudits of some of the superstar names but he's such a great wee player.
  12. Fancy one of the Juve back 4 to be sent off. Covered with them to be carded too.
  13. 2 sets all. 5th set decider here we come....
  14. Murray breaks to go 6-5 up. Murray serving for 4th set!
  15. Brilliant defence from Murray there
  16. Need a Barca win and think they'll do it fairly comfortably. 2-0. Messi and Suarez.
  17. Is she properly injured and/or ill or is she just hamming it up? She looked on her arse when I turned over. Now has a wee spring her step but still looks exhausted.....
  18. Fox reporting Pirlo has agreed to join New York City in MLS. Possibly Pirlo, Lampard and Villa if true...... FOX Soccer ‏@FOXSoccer 5h5 hours agoREPORT: Juventus star Andrea Pirlo accepts offer to join New York City. foxs.pt/1FtRsmi
  19. FIFA whistleblower Chuck Blazer has admitted facilitating the acceptance of bribes over the awarding of the 1998 and 2010 World Cups. Blazer admitted he and others on FIFA's executive committe member took bribes in a testimony published by the United States Department of Justice Blazer, the former FIFA executive committee member, CONCACAF general secretary and executive vice president of the US Soccer Federation, said in the testimony: "I agreed with other persons in or around 1992 to facilitate the acceptance of a bribe in conjunction with the selection of the host nation for the 1998 World Cup. "I and others agree that I or a co-conspirator would commit at least two acts of racketeering activity. "Beginning in, or around, 2004 and continuing to 2011, I and others on the FIFA executive committee agreed to accept bribes in conjunction with the selection of South Africa as the host nation for the 2010 World Cup. "While acting in our official capacities we agreed to participate in a scheme to defraud FIFA and CONCACAF on the right to honest services by taking undisclosed bribes." The American, now seriously ill, added back in 2013 that he also accepted backhanders for the CONCACAF affiliated Gold Cups, equivalent to the UEFA European Championship. He added: "In and around 1993 and continuing through the early 2000s I and others agreed to accept bribes and kick-backs in conjunction with the broadcast and other rights to the '96, '98, 2000, 2002 and 2003 Gold Cups."
  20. If ever there was a name that said "grass" then Chuck Blazer is it! Shit is about to hit the fan haha......
  21. Former top Fifa official Chuck Blazer has detailed his bribe-taking, racketeering and money laundering as part of a guilty plea in New York. He says that he and others on Fifa's executive committee agreed to accept bribes in conjunction with the choice of South Africa as 2010 World Cup host. Mr Blazer says he also accepted bribes over the 1998 event. The US has launched a wide-ranging criminal case that engulfed Fifa and led President Sepp Blatter to resign.
