  1. Apologies for the double posts! Phone broke so been using old shitty Nokia! Anyway, another few that spring to mind are Recoba, Salas and Anelka. All had the potential to be truly great players but didn't quite fulfill it in my opinion. Still pretty successful careers though, Anelka especially!
  2. Ortega and Saviola always threatened to be great players but it didn't really happen for me. In today's game Hulk seems to have all the attributes but i still haven't seen enough from him on a consistent basis.though. I always felt Cadamarteri, Oster and Jeffers of Everton would do better than they did. Bridges at Leeds too and having seen Joe Cole as a teenager at West Ham I thought he was going to be extraordinary. Never quite happened though.
  3. Slightly different interpretation of the question but possibly Shearer and Le Tissier. To of my favourite players growing up. If either moved to a bigger club I believe they would have been even better. Got to admire their loyalty though and in my opinion still two great players.

  9. Agree with most of the names mentioned above. I'd like to give a shout out to big Marvin Andrews too. Probably the nicest, fairest and most honest hardman you're ever likely to find. Of course he's not your old school hardman type who strikes fear into the opposition or your dirty shitebag bastard Muscat type, but if you're willing to put your body on the line like he did and do it all with the biggest smile you've ever seen then that makes them pretty hard to me. Don't think I've ever seen him lose a header and any time he got kicked, elbowed or whacked he'd bounce back up and go again all without flinching! Took so many hits in his career and how he's still playing even now despite his infamous injury problems is real hardman shit! Also, if you got hit (fairly/clumsily) by the big guy you'd certainly know all about it!!
  10. There are some but there doesn't seem to be as many as there used to be. Going back a few years i'd say Ronaldinho, Jay Jay Okocha, Rivaldo, Zidane, Bergkamp, Ginola, Hagi, Baggio and Kinkladze (I used to love that guy!) spring to mind. Rangers wise, Laudrup, Mols, R De Boer and Amato for me!
  11. I would love to see us, or any team for that matter experiment and just stick 4 or 5 of your fastest players on the half line and leave your best 5 or 6 headers of the ball in the box. The opposition wouldn't know what the fuck to do! It'll never happen though!

  13. We are away to Arbroath this weekend (well I say weekend but it's a bloody Monday night! ) and on Saturday the 14th December (when Ricksen will be at The Louden) we are away to Stenny at 5:30.Sure to be an emotional night, just unfortunate those going to Stenny are likely to miss out.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2HZdIABYGw Just seen this watching the Champions League goals. Hopefully someone chinned him!!
  15. A wee heads up for tomorrow's (today!) racing. Blue Sea Of Ibrox runs in the 3:50 at Bangor (Monday). Has a decent chance to win/place. Going to stick a few quid on this purely for the name rather than the fact I fancy it strongly!
  16. Did Pele not once say Gary Bollan was one of the best young defenders he'd ever seen? Just saying........
  17. I'm blatantly biased but I have to say Brian. He's the greatest player I have ever seen in a Rangers jersey and probably the greatest player I have ever seen in the flesh on a consistent basis. Michael was obviously a great player but for me I merely didn't see him enough live despite him not being that much older than Brian. The whole youtube/live streaming/live games on sky/social media aspect of life has evolved moreso in recent years and maybe if it was more readily available back then, then my opinion may be different. However, I simply didn't have many opportunities to see Michael on a regular basis whereas i had the privilege of seeing Brian week in week out. And he was simply THAT good. Handsome bastard too!
  18. Controversial with tin hat at the ready but I wouldn't necessarily say Super was our greatest striker although it depends on your definition of a striker I suppose. He's by far the greatest Rangers goalscorer I have seen in my lifetime but not the greatest striker. Technically and overall the likes of Mols, Prso and Jelavic were better strikers in my opinion. Obviously they only did it for a short period of time for us and weren't as clinical in front of goal whereas Super literally scored hundreds for us on an unbelievably consistent basis and in big games too. I will clarify the above by saying Ally was still a great striker and was far more than just a goalscorer. He's also my second favourite player only to Sir Brian but I personally believe being a striker is not all about scoring goals. Of course it's important to score goals but the role of a striker has evolved so much over the years in my opinion. One of the greatest goalscorers I have ever had the pleasure to see live though and a living legend.
  19. Novo and Arteta are two stand out shouts for me. Other notable penalties for me are: Ricksen away to Hearts deep into injury time to give us a massive win. Arteta away to Dundee to get a point after Fergie missed twice. Vignal at home to maritimo. Gazza for 8 in a row against the sheep brings back great memories too.
