I had an apprentice late 90s who went to one of the clubs in Stirling when he was younger .His mum pulled him and his brother out the club because she was uncomfortable with the No shirts policy ,I believe she was a social worker so might have had her eyes open a bit more than most .

It’s easy to forget the changes in the world from back then to today .Communication is on a different level to what it was back then .

Couldn’t remember if it was before or after Dunblane .And never heard any connection between Beattie and Hamilton . In the years after from what I had heard and the amount of folk I now know that attended clubs all over the area that Hamilton ran and the amount of boys that left the clubs is crazy .Hamilton had connections at the top of Central Scotland Police who allowed him to have guns .It’s not surprising that a lot of what was going on at the time has been kept on the lowdown .

You will be about the same age as Lawrence Haggerty and stay a few miles away .I take it you played with him . When it happened i stayed in Stirling at the time and I remember the whole area being shocked .

There are talks and there are talks .Offering a 1 or 2 year extension on same terms (signed 3 years previous) and with a signing on fee ,Would still be talks but unlikely to come to anything . Signing on a 3 year extension on improved terms that could come to something probably won’t be happening.

Iv thought this for years .Didn’t want to say it out loud though . The sums of money heading that way for a few bits of plastic in return were huge .And for the time it was happening it was a significant amount of their turnover . Turns your stomach when you actually think what both parties were benefiting from with such a potential arrangement.

Not sure how old you are ,But not that long ago for some of us there was a chairman who then went onto become SFA president .The chairman was in the job at a point where investigations happened at the club and they found nothing . Bigger clue the chairman now has a grandson who plays for Scotland and Aston Villa . The other guy ,his brother was slightly more famous for a period for being Lord Provost of Glasgow .

Even though we knew he was very ill and it was only a matter of time ,This is still such a shock . Definitely the best goalie Iv seen play for us and a major reason we won 9 in a row . So sad his time on the earth was cut so short 🥲 RIP The Goalie
