anybody remember the time fifa early years  implemented a hackers tackle, when you pressed one of the top trigger buttons on the ps2 it would lunge at the player with a scissors tackle, you either get a yellow or a straight red.
    man i miss those days

As I mentioned before this is a serious thread, the outcome of these issues will almost significantly affect our club and fans, and unfortunately I expect as much blame as possible will be deflected on both.
Rather than off hand comments, and needless abuse and/or point-scoring in here, would be better to stick to the real facts of what happened and concentrate on the real root causes of the trouble, (which in my opinion were the organisers, the police, and of course the Hibs fans who came on and caused/incited trouble, and unfortunately a few of our own fans have probably compromised themselves by running on too, albeit in mitigating circumstances.) And it seems our club may have acted prematurely by issuing punishments before proof, unless they have more information and advice than we know.
Any lurkers will easily be seen off by a more mature discussion of the events and potential consequences.
And any Gers fans who have extreme views either way should be willing to listen to the other side of the coin too.
This issue is slowly being turned around in favour of the instigators to our detriment, and will divide us. We don't need to please them needlessly arguing amongst ourselves.
This is solely about protecting our club and fans.
A one sentence general slagging off of any post or poster on here is just not acceptable, I'm sure we're better than that.
Let's focus on the real root causes, not the various personal knee jerks. And stick to facts, not conjecture about poster's motives.

    Yup, I can accept that.
Like I said, I don't know if those that have banning orders have been charged or not, but if there are those that have acted outside the law and have just gone on for a scrap then it does put the club in a no-win position.  But yes accepted, the club could have awaited the outcome of charges first.
I also agree that I'm astonished that Hibs, as a club, are still not subject to charges (although a lot of fans have been banned), and I've brought that up myself plenty times.  Perhaps that'll happen after the "independent investigations..." but I won't hold my breath.

I should't really be surprised but I had hoped it could be different.
The club could have said that they would let the courts etc deal with it and whilst they dont want to be seen encouraging violence they can understand why the supporters took to the field when their players and vulnerable supporters were severely at risk as the Hibs support had passed the halfway line.

The board could have left it, just like the SFA are doing with hivs, when will we see that club being punished?

Nope I wasn't there and all I have to go on is the videos/reports and first hand accounts of those that were...mostly from this forum and not the MSM.
I don't know who the banning orders were issued to, but we've all seen pictures of boots, kicks and corner flags being brandished that would make it very very difficult for the the club to defend the actions of these few as "protecting our players/staff".  I have no doubt there were fans on the pitch that were concerned for our players/staff but it would be naive to think that there weren't some who took up the invitation to come down for the fighting.
Maybe the tone of the post has come across wrongly (writing rather than talking can do that!) but I'm not actually blaming our fans at all.  Since the OP was about the boards reaction and issuing bans, my point is that the board was/is in an impossible position regarding the actions of a few given what's been seen and will find it almost impossible to defend.

These matches are definitely being played in pre-season mode. I'm not sure it will be that high scoring.
