There must be several. We should eliminate those who have proven to be shit at coaching, like Ferguson.

Ok big Al, we have our own opinions.  Mine is based on Ferguson's lack of successful managerial/coaching stints and also I believe that he lacks that wealth of knowledge pedro is looking for regarding our opponents in the spl.

For me it really depends on the role of the assistant. If it's a coaching input then neither Freguson or Brown would be suitable for me as their ideas appear dated just like McCoists . If however it's more about Rangers history, culture, problems that the manager might encounter with other clubs, press, what local players to watch out for then John Brown could be suitable.

I'm not sure that Spiers actually believes what he says & writes. I just think he knows that the best way to get a wage as a "journalist" in Scotland is to lay the boot into Rangers.

I'll tell you what - I'm not Houston's biggest fan by any means, but I can't say I'm comfortable with him being slagged for being an 'oven cleaner.' Every one of us does something different for a living, denigrating someone because you feel their occupation is beneath you says more about you than it does about them, in my opinion.
I've got family, friends, etc who do jobs others may see as menial, but fuck slagging them for it. I would do anything I needed to to earn a living, I've done some 'lowly' jobs in my time.
Rant over, but ffs there's plenty to slag him for other than having his own business (I think) and trying to make an honest crust.

Good thread Eejay, been wanting one of these as a sticky for a point of reference for ages.
Most are added that I know with that cunt Gordon Waddell just been mentioned. There's another one called Gannon who has stood out a few times for me.
There is also one down here in England who works for the Guardian and is a professor of journalism at a university. Forget his name but will add it later if no one helps me out as I know other bears will have come across the cunt.
After that the only other one I can think of is that arse Jim Spence who left the BBC over wanting to be allowed to call us a new club.
The only guy I know who has been completely fair with Rangers is Richard Wilson.

Spiers was playing with his Doodlemaster and chemistry set while everyone was playing football. A well scrubbed mummy's boy who probably looked as awkward on a football pitch as he looked at a disco. Keevan's cannot utter a sentence without looking for any sensational or sinister angle. He imagines himself at Speakers Corner with every word that he utters. He is a parochial tit!
So I agree with you of course!

    Angela Haggerty and Graham Spiers.
Angela is a bitter bastard who has made a career born out of Rangers hating.  The extent of her Rangers hatred even cost her the job at the Herald temporarily.  These days she tries her best not to mention Rangers as she wants to be taken seriously as a political correspondent.  However, the hatred is as strong as ever just below the surface.  She will expose herself again on a long enough timeline.
Graham Spiers lack of consistency is what bugs me the most.  This is a man who compared Rangers to Lance Armstrong, Juventus, and said the words "financial doping" on radio for all to hear.  He said we're a different club in his opinion.  But wait, we sign Jon Daily and Spiers writes an article about a 'historically sectarian signing policy'.  He then went on the TV to declare it's not the same team.  Then after the 2-0 cup defeat a few years ago he wrote an article that claimed the Billy Boys had shamed Rangers for more than a decade.  He was then pictured in the crowd attending a game as a fan claiming this was his boyhood club. He positions himself either side of the old club/new club debate to suit his own agenda.
I would also point out that about 15 years ago Spiers wrote an article saying Rangers are more sectarian that Celtic.  Celtic fans apparently had a few idiots but Rangers, for the most part, were portrayed as bigots.  Since then we've had the hanging of Protestant effigies, banners asking for football fans to be killed, attacks on young children, burning of the Rangers bus, 66 on the steps of Ibrox at the anniversary of the disaster, etc.  Not to mention the continued support for the IRA and hatred for British troops, were is his condemnation of them?  He's gone quiet.

I don't know how adept McCann is at coaching but I'd like to see him in. He could work wonders with McKay. Always enjoyed his views as a pundit. I think he offers decent insight into our game.

Well Miller is out and I would think Murty would be out as well. The way he was talking its someone that's been at the club.
My shout would be McCann, and please god not Ferguson.

Jimmy Nichol is a good shout but I'd be surprised if he is on the list. Looks like miller has been ruled out, just hoping its not Barry.

No not mcculloch. I feel as if he would think that he was entitled to be here and that he then could coast. he is too used to the Ally salad days.

I think most fans would probably go for Neil McCann. He has at least been involved in coaching and comes across intelligently, and would be a good foil for caixinho. McCulloch is probably the other name linked I'd say might be decent. The downside to him though, are the links to the mccoist regime, and I'd fear he would bring some of that baggage with him.bi can't really think of any other good rangers men in coaching ATM that jump out at me.

I think it will be Bomber Brown, Pedro outlines what he wants from a local club assistant and Bomber I would say has knowledge of all.
    History
    Traditions
    Culture
Knowledge of players and other managers
What it's like living in Glasgow, Scotland
