Dado 334
The last throw of the dice........... If Shearer and Dowie do well I wonder how long it will be before people are mentioning Dowie for the Rangers job? Dowie's a massive Rangers fan as well, I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned already. Is he the one that looks like Sloth from the goonies? Newcastle should set up a soap opera, it would rival Eastenders. Would need subtitles to understand it though.

Danny 9
I think he's making a horrible mistake. Noble intentions but this could backfire horribly.

alstone 374
They will go down now hopefully. I would miss them in the premiership and think its a shame for their great support/stadium
BlueSuedeSambas 54,096
I think he's making a horrible mistake. Noble intentions but this could backfire horribly. I've never really cared for Newcastle all that much, but I see Shearer as being one of the good guys and for that reason I hope they do stay up. Guest therabbitt
If Newcastle go down then I think they could be down for the foreseeable future. Their better players will move on and the rest of their squad is filled with dross and they are not really known for bringing through players.... Jamie29 774
Who are they playing next? I bet they'll win his 1st game in charge and then just slide down the table after that.

EastEnclosureBear 2,949
Newcastle, hmm..... i think they will stay up, I watched there game v Arsenal, it was a shame really, they deserved at least a point from the game, but that's football.
papaguy51 912
As much as I'd like them to go down, Shearer and Ian Dowie is a very interesting partnership.
KERRZO 5
Shearer's arrival is a last throw at some sort of stimulas to keep this mediocre squad in the premiership. Newcastle have been so flat all season and Mike Ashley might just have pulled off a masterstroke if Shearer keeps them up, all will be forgiven with him and Shearer gets the job full time. Personally, I dont even think the "Messiah" can keep this shower of piss of a Newcastle squad in the EPL with the run of games they have got!!! Thermopylae 15,287
They always seem wedded to the personality cult at Newcastle if it's not Keegan then it's Shearer ... I guess it's true what the Cockneys say that Geordies are like Scots but without the brains
