Blue Stars Bearette 1
also.... Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez grabbed a few more headlines on Saturday morning with a somewhat churlish - make that mystifying - claim that the best team does not always win the title, it just means they have more points than anyone else. Not so Rafa. Not so at all. Any argument is always won by the team holding the trophy and no-one can seriously discredit them. However much it hurts, the best team always wins the title and, despite a chequered record against those regarded as their closest rivals, this Manchester United team are worthy winners of the Premier League for an 11th time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/200..._champions.html

BlueSuedeSambas 54,498
Not for the first time, he was going on about the difference in spending power before the game today and I actually find it to be a load of horse shit. They only real difference is that when Man Utd splash out 30 million for a player it's usually on a guy who Sir Alex knows will spent the next five/six years commanding a place in their team. Liverpool spunk 30 million on six or seven decent players who are then sold for half of what they paid for them a year/two years later.
Thermopylae 15,287
Manchester United only have this spending power because of Sir Alex Ferguson. When he arrived at old trafford they were in such dire financial straits that there was no money to spend on players and he had to take a pay cut from his time at pittodrie

Blue Stars Bearette 1
it also takes great managerial skill to run such a big squad full of top players many of whom have top egos...just having expensive players doesn't win you the league. You need to keep them all feeling part of the team, combine the talents and abilities, balance the team etc...Sir Alex has done that consistently ...the way he managed to keep Ronaldo after the wink incident for example says tons for his man management

longjohn 0
Do you expect Rafa to congratulate Ferguson, when only a few weeks ago, Ferguson was stirring the shit, as he often does, accusing Rafa of showing disrespect to Blackburn. A great manager he may be, but he is a nasty piece of work Ferguson. Yes Rafa suits Liverpool and their fans, because he is the best boss they have had for some years. Sad, bitter and delusional? What a load of bullshit.
BlueSuedeSambas 54,498
I read today that Benieiz has spent 295 million since he took over at Liverpool. Danny 9
to the charge that Sir Alex is only friendly with those who are not close rivals nonsense he was great mates with Jose also when Chelsea was beating Man U to the title Rafa sour grapes Benitez Utterly false. Do you just make things up? Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho have often been at loggerheads this season and they go head-to-head again in Saturday's FA Cup final. As the pair prepare their teams for one more battle, BBC Sport looks back over the season at the off-the-pitch verbal skirmishes that have often accompanied the on-the-pitch battles. Danny 9
BBC Benitez refuses to laud Ferguson Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez refused to congratulate Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for beating his side to the Premier League title. baby toys pram What another load of nonsense. This is like reading the Sun. You've failed to point out that Benitez fully congratulated Man Utd on winning the league, but didn't congratulate SAF individually. This followed SAF publicly chastising Benitez for gestures allegedly made against Blackburn which Allardyce objected to. So, frankly, if Benitez doesn't want to applaud SAF, I don't see why he should.
