Both voting conservative then are we?

I'm still awaiting a link from you that proves the bland Cameron actually said it was the fault of the underclass that they live in hovels, are alcoholics, drug addicts and just general wasters?

I really don't think your doing yourself any favours by generalising every Glaswegian as an alky, junkie and a general waster who lives in a hovel (tenemant you probably mean). To an extent I have to agree with your comments though, there is an underclass hellbent on sitting on there backsides and relying on hand-outs, but this problem is UK wide.

I will see if I can find any link/article, firstly I need to finish my last line of Mephedrone which will be washed down by a lovely chilled bottle of pulse cider and ten fags. I might need to wash the stairs in the close as well, could be a while theres a bunch of neds to chase oot the close as well.

Point me to where I said "every Glaswegian is an alky, junkie and a general waster who lives in a hovel".

I spent the first twenty seven years of my life in Glasgow. I've seen the great harm socialism and state "benefits" do to society.

The schemes in Glasgow are inhabited by low lifes with no brains, no ambition and no work ethic. The only desire this underclass have is to ponce off others, drink copious amounts of alcohol, take drugs and abuse themselves and other people. When challenged on their own life choices they blame everyone else and bemoan an imagined lack of opportunities.

You asked this:

I'm still awaiting a link from you that proves the bland Cameron actually said it was the fault of the underclass that they live in hovels, are alcoholics, drug addicts and just general wasters?

When I actually said he blamed the people of Glasgow for the poverty levels, nothing more.

Once again point me to where I said "every Glaswegian is an alky, junkie and a general waster who lives in a hovel".

Here's a clue to the key word in the sentence: "every".

Ok then, I await the link where Cameron says poverty is the fault of the people of Glasgow. In our developed country poverty is the fault of the individual, or so I'd have thought.

So does anybody know what cameron said?

Trying to find it...

"Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, who was in Glasgow, called on Tory leader David Cameron to apologise for a speech in which Mr Cameron appealed for a greater sense of public morality.

Appearing with candidate Ian Robertson, Mr Clegg said Mr Cameron had effectively claimed that if people were out of a job or struggling to make ends meet it was their own fault.

"If David Cameron has any decency he would apologise to the people of Glasgow East for the arrogance of his comments," he said."

Obvioulsy my memory serves me correct though, he did indeed open his trap as only an English toff can do.

A second or third hand account from a political opponent. You didn't listen up in history class about sources, did you? How about direct, in context, quotes of what Cameron said. We live in a time of mass media where everything is recorded (in some form) and put on line.

English toffs are the problem... much like Timmy, the socialist blames everyone other than himself.

For the record, I find Cameron dull and vacuous.

I'm quite prepared to accept that he spoke out of turn, he strikes me as a complete tit.

But I'd be interested in what words he used.

David Cameron declared yesterday that some people who are poor, fat or addicted to alcohol or drugs have only themselves to blame.

He said that society had been too sensitive in failing to judge the behaviour of others as good or bad, right or wrong, and that it was time for him to speak out against “moral neutrality”.

In a conscious shift of strategy, the Tory leader said he would not shirk from discussing public morality and claimed that social problems were often the consequence of individuals’ choices. “We talk about people being ‘at risk of obesity’ instead of talking about people who eat too much and take too little exercise,” he said. “We talk about people being at risk of poverty, or social exclusion: it’s as if these things — obesity, alcohol abuse, drug addiction — are purely external events like a plague or bad weather.

“Of course, circumstances — where you are born, your neighbourhood, your school and the choices your parents make — have a huge impact. But social problems are often the consequence of the choices people make.”

'We talk about people being at risk of obesity instead of talking about people who eat too much and take too little exercise,' he said.

'Of course, circumstances - where you are born, your neighbourhood, your school, and the choices your parents make - have a huge impact. But social problems are often the consequence of the choices that people make.'

He added: 'There is a danger of becoming quite literally a de-moralised society, where nobody will tell the truth anymore about what is good and bad, right and wrong.

'That is why children are growing up without boundaries, thinking they can do as they please, and why no adult will intervene to stop them - including, often, their parents.

'If we are going to get any where near solving some of these problems, that has to stop.'

Boab,

That's what I came up with when I googled "David Cameron" and "Glasgow", but that can't be it surely? TheHammer said:

"On his last visit to Glasgow, David Cameron said it was all our own fault there was so much poverty.

Great guy.. so he is."

The two don't match so The Hammer must have another set of quotes in mind. Perhaps we should just leave him to hating "English toffs". It's not jealousy of wealthier and more successful people at all though...

Tbh, I just think the truth hurts for some people. Don't really see much wrong with what Cameron said.

I agree, heaven forbid fat people are told they eat too much and don't exercise enough and God help us, don't tell alcoholics it's their own choice to drink and the state scroungers that there are plenty of jobs out there.

Individual power and choices. It's a great thing.

Certainly not, far from it in fact. ;)

Fair play then. FYI - in future read more than the red top headline, get to the actual quotes of what someone has said and formulate an opinion from there.

the BNP are vermin and its sickening to see them playing the racist scapegoat card so well. I am ashamed to say down here in Dagenham & Barking that they have had most success from exploiting people's fears and despair about the way things are. The BNP and their cronies in the equally vile English Defence League are an insidious and deeply damaging force in this country that needs to be stamped out.

I agree fully with your view of them. Sadly they appeal to the lowest common denominator. Barking and Dagenham is another area full of the workshy underclass. It is much easier to blame foreigners (most of whom come here and work their socks off) than for the spongers to take a look at themselves. These people are state dependent scum and need to be stamped out, then you'll get rid of the vile, neo-fascists socialist BNP.
