GOAT 30,449
the other clubs along with us and the mhanky mob that are responsible for saving our coifficent next season. Realistically, can these three clubs along with the bheggers reach the group stages? Because for this countrys future in european football, they need to. Ace 3,645
We can only hope, they are certainly the best of the rest but just whether they are capable of a sustained run in europe ... christ, are we ???
GOAT 30,449
realistically we need to still be in europe after christmas, us finishing last again is not an option.
PaulRFC1 115
I think if Dundee can hold on to there players then they can maybe get into the Europa League group stages.Celtic should be able to get out of the Europa League group stages pretty easily but it depends on who they draw after that.I think if our tactics are right and the players perform like they can then we could maybe get to the last 16 but im looking at the Europa League latter stages right now.Hibs can be hopeful of maybe getting past one qualifying round but thats it.Motherwell will get humped 12-0 on aggregate by a Lithuanian team . MisterC 12,757
Agreed, we need them all to do their best and actually do something other than be knocked out at the earliest opportunity. Its our best 5 teams who have qualified for Europe and to have 2 teams in the Europa league would be a big achievment and also we cant finish last again in the CL either, not just because its embarresing but also from a financial perspective as well as the co-efficient. Time all Scottish teams stepped up to the plate in Europe.
GOAT 30,449
the worrying thing for me is too many scottish clubs think that by doing decent their just helping us and the bheggers, but they seem to forget were about to lose a europa league place for the best of the rest. Dietspam 733
We need to improve as well.
TexasGers 96
Only a few years ago the coefficient was in pretty good shape when there were 3 teams in Europe after Christmas so there probably has to be a similar situation to improve it this time around. NOLUWDC 1
Motherwell will be seeded in the 2nd Qualifying Round (I'm sure) but I'm not sure about Hibs and Motherwell - if they get there - for the 3rd Round. Dundee United come in at the 4th Round along with Hibs and Motherwell if they make it but none of them will be seeded. Even if they get a few wins in the qualifying rounds to bring up their coefficient then it will help for next year. Graham 3,536
We are most likely going to be in pot 3. So qualifying for the last 16 is going to be a long shot.I found a site that predicts the pots if all the seeded teams qualify. It doesn't look good Realistically I think we should be aiming to drop into the EL and - hope Celtic - and at least one other team get into the group stages of the EL.Also we need the following teams (I think) to do badly Champions League:Denmark: CopenhagenBelgium: Anderlecht, AA GentSwitzerland: Basle, Young boysEuropa League:Denmark: Odense BK, BrondbyBelgium: Club BruggeSwitzerland: Grasshoppers, FC Luzern(The above are based on the league tables, not sure about the qualification through FA cups)p.s. Not sure its possible but how funny would it be if Celtic drew young boys. Bakoni 28
I reckon we should win the champions league. Just to help out the rest of the SPL.
MasterD 7,457
Dundee United have the best chance of making the group stages out of they 3, but i dont think they will, the other 2 will get beat off some unheard of teamsis it right if Celtic go out on the 3rd qualifying game they get put out on all European comps, but if they get put out in the 2nd they go into the Europa Cup? they wont get into the CLAnd we dont have a chance of getting past the group stages, i wouldnt be surprised to see us finish 4th againall in all, another disappointing season for all SPL teams in Europe
Graham 3,536
If Celtic lose their first qualifier they drop out completely. If they get passed that qualifier but lose the next they fall back into the EL.Not sure what the qualifying rounds are called now. Michel Platini and his cronies made it rather confusing. NOLUWDC 1
Celtic go into the 3rd Round of qualifying for the Champions League but if they lose they face a qualifying round to make the group stages of the Europa League. If they lose in the 4th Round of Champions League qualifying they make it straight to the group stages of Europa League.
