COMEBACK kid Thomas Kind Bendiksen is ready to reign at Rangers - after Tommy Wilson revealed he almost ruined his career by trying too hard to be an Ibrox star.

The Norwegian announced his arrival in Ally McCoist's top-team squad with his first senior goal in the midweek friendly defeat in Hamburg.

McCoist immediately revealed talks are ongoing in a bid to keep Bendiksen for the long term and it's a huge relief for the player after fearing his time in the game might be over.

The 22-year-old moved to Glasgow four years ago but his time at the SPL champions has been blighted by injury and he was given a six-month deal in the summer to prove he was finally over all his physical setbacks.

Bendiksen has spent the last three of those years battling against a serious knee injury which cost him the chance to make a greater impact at first-team level.

He insists he is now in the clear but confessed he harboured doubts he could make the grade after spending so long on the sidelines.
