Ref and fourth official gave inconsistent statements apparently which might explain the Ibrox one.

He's still facing charges for running onto the pitch against Hearts, his tweets & commenting about referees ahead of the St. Johnstone game I believe (tu)

craig whyte got one thing right when he said the SFA was a shambolic organisation.

heres a list of offences that lemon commited that would be each worthy of a 2 game ban in their own right:

  • sent off from the dug out at ibrox
  • blasted the ref after the defeat to kilmarnock using the word 'criminal'
  • tried to influence a ref before his game against St. Johnstone (i think?) claiming they needed a strong referee
  • ran on the pitch to confront referee after defeat to Hearts
  • claimed the decisions goign against celtic were 'personal' on his twitter
  • published on his twitter page that the SFA is 'corrupt'

each one of those above could be worthy of fines & dug-out bans, when you also consider that each punishment is more severe than the last, he should be facing a ban upwards of 12 games.

"His sitting out of the 2nd half of the game was sufficient enough punishment" - On his sending off at Ibrox

So there you have it folks, if a player gets sent off in the 1st half he no longer has to serve a suspension as missing out on a half of football is enough of a sentence!

Neil Lennon has been given a two-game touchline ban by a Scottish Football Association tribunal.

The suspension was handed down on Thursday and relates to the Celtic manager's public criticism of referee Willie Collum following the Scottish Communities League Cup final in March.

Lennon was unhappy with the official's decision to book Anthony Stokes for diving, rather than award a penalty, during the cup final defeat.

The manager was also cited for an alleged incident during half-time at Ibrox involving match official Calum Murray. Lennon was found guilty by the tribunal on the charge, but no further punishment will be imposed.

The Scottish FA statement on the outcome said: "The tribunal imposed no further sanction on the basis that the half-game served outwith the technical area was sufficient."

Both Murray and his fourth official at that match, Iain Brines, were present at Hampden for the hearing.

There is no right of appeal available to the Celtic manager for the suspension, which will apply with immediate effect.

Statements from both the Scottish FA and Celtic are expected on Thursday evening.

Rules

Rule 68 states: “No recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA, shall in an interview, a ‘blog’ on the internet, on a social networking or micro-blogging site, or in any other manner calculated or likely to lead to publicity (i) criticise the performance(s) of any or all match official(s) in such a way as to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official; or (ii) make remarks about such match official(s) which impinge on his character.”

Rule 203 stipulates: “No member of Team Staff shall commit Misconduct at a match, including but not limited to committing acts of the kind described in the Schedule of Offences in Annex C (including where there is aggravation by any factor, including but not limited to prolongation of the incident; combination of different offences; continued use of offensive, abusing and/ or insulting language and/or behaviour; calling a match official a cheat and/ or calling a match official’s integrity into question; failure to comply with a match official’s requests; adoption of aggressive behaviour towards a match official; any racist, sexist, sectarian and/or otherwise discriminatory element; and the degree of any physical violence), breaching the Post Match Protocol and committing Unacceptable Conduct.”

So let me just get this right before we all lose the rag.

This 2 match ban is for his comments RE: Collum and Kilmarnock cup final.

He got away with the incidents at Ibrox due to inconsistencies in the referee/4th officials report.

He is still to face charges for both his run onto the pitch and twitter comments after the Hearts game.

Is that right?
