The Godfather 76,020
When I woke this morning I dd my routine weekend drive to the shops to get the breakfast in but I couldn't even get my car door open because of the frost and it took ages to clear. There are reports that we are in for a shocking winter with temperatures to plummet even further and we know how poor some SPL stadiums are inthe frost neverind SFl 3 ones.I know none of them have undersoil heating like us and a few have the artificial pitches but what about the others?I can see many call offs in the next few months if the weather stays true to form! devref 201
could well be most of our weekend games are off and that brings into force the mid week at montrose etc and even then there is no sure way of making sure the game can go ahead.will we be expected to play like local football teams on a saturday and sunday when the pitches are fit its a joke in this day and age that clubs dont have the undersoil or pitches covered
MikeBlue 136
You may be right, but long range weather forecasting is a load of rubbish, of course, so who knows.Inevitable that we will see more call offs than we're used to, I suppose
loyalfollower 1,543
Well the queens park game will go ahead plus any home game unless it's not safe for 40 oddthousand on the surrounding streets of stadium, I dont think it will be as bad as it could be. The Godfather 76,020
It's more the away games I was thinking about, our home games will be fine unless we get heavy snow but the frozen pitches won't be an issue at Ibrox.
peter huistra 1,764
Cant we just move the games to Ibrox and then play the reverse fixture at their ground once the weather gets better ?
there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
its a joke in this day and age that clubs dont have the undersoil or pitches coveredthe wee clubs can't be expected to have undersoil heating, but I agree that they should take some action to ensure their game v us go ahead. even if its fans with hairdryers on the morning of the game! nachothelegend 1,932
It will be their loss not ours .I think the fact these games are played 3 oclock sat helps , but its unfair on the fans if a game in Peterheed or Elgin is called off late on.Its just the nature of the Beast that is the weather in Scotland. Very unpredictable.
dougied123 222
The leagues have managed to complete their fixtures over the years, dont really see why this season will be any different

When was the last time a game was called off for over-selling?
The Godfather 76,020
The leagues have managed to complete their fixtures over the years, dont really see why this season will be any differentYou are not taking into account thousands of away fans travelling to stadiums which ty he never expierenced before in the lower divisions. This winter is set to be a bad one by all accounts too....,
there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
Does anyone know or remember how these clubs coped during the big freeze a couple of years ago? Were games postponed? As has been said things are different now we are brining a massive away support.

govanblue 16,847
How does this affect the pitch conditions?frozen pitch is not the only reason a game could be called off.Ice on the approach roads has seen games cancelled before
AlBear. 8,499
frozen pitch is not the only reason a game could be called off.Ice on the approach roads has seen games cancelled beforeThat wouldn't affect only SFL games though.
govanblue 16,847
That wouldn't affect only SFL games though. No, but the police may take a different view if there are 3000 away fans coming to Stonybridge, compared to the usual
