ScottBF2 3,540
Funnily enough, I don't recall Milliband speaking out when James McClean made his 'political' statement by refusing to wear a shirt with a poppy on it.I don't think Jews give a fuck about tarriers. JamieD 20,031
Middle-class "socialist" in takng the moral high ground shock. Why shouldn't a middle-class person be a socialist? "Sorry Dad, I can't actually argue with your theories, and I know you were a poor immigrant who survived the Warsaw ghetto and that's great, but I don't have it so bad, so I'll be a Tory instead"

JamieD 20,031
Real socialists worked in the mines and the shipyards and wore bunnets.I don't think you answered my question. Should the children of "real socialists", who find themselves in more fortunate circumstances, abandon the righteous ideals of their parents? Is your idea of an ideal world one in which miners are treated like strangers by the educated children of miners?

JamieD 20,031
He did. His old man is a Marxist, he's a Blairite.I'm not claiming Miliband is anybody's idea of a true socialist. I'm just wondering why his "class" should be a factor in whether or not we should despise him.

JamieD 20,031
Your point lies in the rubble of the West London Ghetto! His grandparents lived in the Warsaw ghetto. I knew there was some ghetto shit going on somewhere in the Miliband annals.

Should the children of "real socialists", who find themselves in more fortunate circumstances, abandon the righteous ideals of their parents? Is your idea of an ideal world one in which miners are treated like strangers by the educated children of miners? Are there any miners left?Actually that's an interesting question you ask. My late father-in-law was a Lanarkshire miner and a strong union man. His son, my brother-in-law, is a London barrister, the epitome of a middle-class professional. By choice he works for a trades union. It must be in the genes.
