Err in what way does it differ from a normal auction that PayPal could object to?

Oh well back to your complex scheme!

:pipe:

According to wiki...

"bidders pay a fee to make a bid, or may have to pay a subscription fee in order to be able to participate"

That's the bit PayPal won't like.

I don't like it much either. The way I see it - in order to make enough money, with so few bidders, and so many items, the fee would have to be prohibitive!

Anyway - complex is the new black! :pipe:

Ok but no subscription required - we could run it by giving everyone 25 'bids'and look for the lowest unique bid - I'll administer it if you want - no fee required to enter! ??

I still don't see what's good about it.

let's say we have 6 people interested in the Caniggia top, and I want about £75 for it. How would your scenario play out?

Mine would play something like this.

Starting price based on survey = £50

for each 2 bidders, price goes up £5

6 bidders takes price to £65

if any of the 6 are prepared to pay £70, we draw lots, and it goes to 1 member for £70. If not, we draw lots at £65

set the minimum price at £50( or 60 or 70) 10 people make a bid with 20 guesses each person closest to starting price with a unique bid wins.

But if you have such a high starting price anyway why not just set the price and draw lots if more than one wants it?

Anyway ur the boss u what you want and I'll just help if needed.

I still don't get it! (and don't want to!)

My £50 was just an example starting price. The survey will hopefully help determine the actual starting price.

(I personally rank the Caniggia shirt amongst the more valuable of the 10 shirts, but not the most valuable, so I think £50 is a price I'd be happy to pay for it. But I'm only one voice in the survey.)

How about if you get all that are interested to agree to pay a % upfront once you have the required price you do a draw, for example if you set a price of £75 for the framed top then 10 peaple would pay 7.50 then you hold the draw. The problem with that is supply and demand, If you take my example you may have 15-20 people interested which is great because your initial input would be lowered but if you only had 4 it would increase from the 7.50 mentioned on the other hand you could bag yourself a great bargain. :pipe:

Just an idea (tu)

The same two problems:

1. PayPal (and me) don't want to see any members paying any money whatsoever, and getting nothing in return for it. So you can't have an "entry fee".

2. We'll be lucky to have 15-20 people interested in the whole auction, not in each shirt. So again, entry fees would need to be too expensive.

Fuck i'd be ecstatic gettin' any of the shirts fur that, wuts the going rate fur a signed ball?

The £20-£25 I quoted was for the Durrant Print though, not a signed shirt.

I'd say (excluding the Orange Shirt), the Framed Shirts range in (my) value from about £30 - £80

I knew it was a too good to be true offer,i misunderstood.

30 to 8o sounds fair.

Who signed the 72 style shirt?

Auction Update:

Auction has now Started:

http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=280185

After much negotiation, we now have our final auction items list and running order.

The Shota Arveladze Framed Orange Shirt is first up, and there are no special rules or complications for this. It is quite simply the highest bid wins.

(Don't bid here - read the auction thread.)

Next, we will have a simultaneous ballot/auction of the 5 remaining framed shirts.

Each framed shirt will have a starting price (£40), a current price, and a maximum price (£80).

The current price will increase depending on the number of people bidding on that item.

If the price reaches the maximum price before the end of the auction, bidding will close on that item, and those bidders will be asked if they want to take part in the ballot at the agreed price. One name will then be pulled out of the hat and will buy the shirt at the agreed price.

Finally, we will auction off all the other items we have (signed prints, signed balls etc) in the same way.

Hopefully that sounds ok.
