Utter shite

no team would lie down to another team ever.

Talk me through that process will you

Maybe not lie down but maybe not exactly burst a gut trying. Don't tell me there aren't teams who almost give up at least psychologically in certain instances.

(Ibrox was once a fortress where teams had given up in their minds before they even rolled up outside)

As long as we are not in the running for the title.

I will be rather unsurprised when certain teams or certain players within teams don't fall over themselves to lie down to the scum when we are sitting top come the last quarter of the season. I'll atart with Hibs and the sheep and watch them come at us as if their lives depended on it. However, it is up to us to ensure our destiny is in our own hands and put every last one of the haters to the sword.

Spot on, there will certainly be teams, players and managers that will be more than happy to lose to the taigs if it means stopping us win the league. However if we’re good enough to win the league it won’t matter because we’ll smash them aswell!

I don’t believe the manager of any team walks into the dressing room and tells his players to go out onto the pitch and not try - have a half arsed go

He would have his gonads shoved up his arse by the senior players in the squad and kicked fuck out of by the rest of his management team

Just deliberately being argumentative, nobody ever said any manager went out and said that. Most people on here know exactly the idea and expression of lying down or rolling over. Only somebody autistic or difficult would take it literally. Rangers could go out under Pedro and metaphorically "lie down". Many teams appear to have higher levels of motivation and expectation against Rangers. Many teams give celtic too much respect. celtic have been given an easy ride for 7 plus years now. I'm not saying other teams handed the league titles to them but they certainly didn't get any kind of proper challenge.

“ Lying down” in my opinion is deliberate

Christ sake. Of course teams gave it a go They are just shite. Simple as that not good enough to make any kind of challenge.

When was the last time a team out with the OF won the league.

Add to that, since 1985 there have been a handful of teams that had the chance to do so. (Discounting Aberdeen in 1991, as they were still a competitive top team then, though the slide back to where they belong had began.) Hearts in 1998 and 2006; Aberdeen in 2016. These teams fall away due to not believing they can see it through as much as it is because they're not good enough. That can tie into the point being made that some teams are mentally beaten before a ball is kicked.

I think it's telling that Aberdeen could only beat celtic when they lay down. Combine it with McInnes and his team bottling their 'challenge' in 2016, and his subsequent comments over the years and it's obvious he's never believed they can challenge. As much as they shouldn't be able to on a regular basis, since 1985 there have been unexpected champions in England, Germany, France and Spain - yet in Scotland it doesn't, and won't, happen. Even when we've been mince and celtic are complacent.

Big fish small pond

I have a different view. I think we (or that lot) up their game, invest better, plan better during the run in. Look back at the January window budget allows for those players to make the difference to come to the club

Even back in the 80’s players were brought in to get us/them over the line.

Other teams collapse because they cannot go toe to toe with the OF.  Look at the Kilmarnock last season - fuck me they came 5th and the media were creaming themselves over the terrific effort. Yet they were on the whole shite and came 5th.
