After listening to and reading some of the spurious claims and downright lies about the bogtrotters fixtures in years gone by, e.g. 60 or 70 games in the 66-67 season, I thought I would do some research to try and "educate" the pondlife from the East End, and maybe some of the mhedia as well. Sellik 1966-67 34 league games 9 European Cup Ties. 6 Scottish Cup Ties (Including 1 replay against Clyde in the Semi) 9 League Cup Ties( 6 games in the section at the start of the season. Total 58 games And the league was extended in 1967. Sheepies 1982-83 (Chesney claimed 70 odd) 36 League Games 5 Scottish Cup ties 7 League Cup ties 11 ECWC ties Total 59 games Sellik 2002-2003 38 league games 3 Scottish Ties, put out by ICT on March 23rd 4 League Cup Ties, final played on 16th March 15 Euro ties in CL qualifiers and UEFA Cup Total 60 games And also remember that their league match at Dundee was moved from the Saturday to the prevous Thursday to give them almost a full week free before the UEFA final. Sellik 2004-2005 (feck knows why, but aidsridden thinks they were goin for trophies that year) 38 League games 2 League Cup ties, losing to Rangers on 10th November! 5 Scottish Cup Ties 6 CL group game, finishing bottom of their group. Total 51 games So feck knows what Aidsridden and co are banging on about . Tonight will be Rangers 58th game of the season, with at least 9 more to come on top of that, (Hopefully 10), and will probably be the most games played by any Scottish club in a season in the modern era. It would be nice just once in a while if the lapdogs would get off their arses and actually go and check some facts before churning out parrot fashion the crap they are being fed by certain people. If we make the final, we will have played half a league season worth of European football (that is 19 matches for any tims that might read this, 38 divided by 2 if you were wondering Declan.)
