Walter himself said that it was the right thing to do at the time. And remember, we'd failed miserably in both European competitions. Murrays decision to freshen things up was undoubtedly the correct one.

Undoubtably? Since 1998 we have won just 4 league titles and wasted hundreds of millions of pounds. Sir Alex Ferguson is a prime example of why it is best to stick with a known winner. Walter would've had O'Neills' game sussed in no time, and NO WAY would Walter have let his team concede 6 goals against those vermin in one game.

It was a poor decision, and it cost the club dearly.

it was agood decision , we were in free fall under walter at that time , we gifted them the title that year
