Boab 73
The phrase commentators use 'The defender is doing well in ushering it out of play out for the corner/goal-kick' To me, most of the time, that's the defender obstructing the opposition? No? But Referees rarely punish for it?

papaguy51 912
I agree. Like many things, if it happened anywhere else on the park it'd be a foul.
TunnyLoyal 1,136
Yea i hate seeing it when it happens against us BUT i love seeing it happen when we do it at the end of a crucial game. You can't win!!
ShootSpeedKillLight 0
Annoys me as well. Makes life so much easier for the defender. Another thing that annoys me is when free-kicks around the box are delayed so the defending team can make a wall. It'd be so much better if the attacking team were allowed to take it quickly. Ace 3,556
I remember listening to Hugh Dallas when pressed for an answer on this. He stated that if the ball is less than a metre away from either player then the ball is still playable thefore no obstruction is caused. Personally, i think it is obstruction but i'm only a fan ... not an official (thank god you all say !!)

OlegKuznetsov 10,816
I agree. Like many things, if it happened anywhere else on the park it'd be a foul. Strictly speaking, it really shouldn't be.
