Balogun missed yesterday due to carrying a knock. He seems to be a player that picks up a lot of niggles and there is not a chance the Gaffer drops Goldson for Simpson in a crucial Champions League qualifier.

celtic playing with a good bit of pace and intensity. Dundee offering absolutely nothing. The two new signings look decent.

Yes 100%. His defending of malmo’s second goal should have seen him benched alone!
Football doesn’t work that way. Balogun and Simpson aren’t a patch on Goldson.

He’s not a dud, far from it. But he also needs to be dropped when his form dips like anyone else. Goldson needs to remember he’s a defender first!
There have been worse players over the course of the last two matches than Goldson. Helander is our best CB, Goldson next. I’m not sure dropping Goldson will make much difference. He brings more composure to the defence than Balogun.

I'm sure we need to win by 2 clear goals to go thru do we not. We could outscore them 9-8 and it would still goto extra time and penalties??
I meant out score them from the first leg. They won 2-1. A 1 goal victory at Ibrox and it’s extra time. 3-1 and we go through.
Maybe I should have just said score 2 more than them

Pressure of 5k Swedish and Dundee supporters? There hasn’t even been an away support in sight. I wouldn’t put it down to the pressure of crowds. I think it’s down to a number of issues.
- players not fully fit
- players out : Sakala, Roofe, Arfield, Jack, Hagi etc etc
- early season / still finding our feet
First half in Sweden wasn’t great but they never troubled us. The defending of the two goals was poor. Yesterday we were far from our best but Dundee Utd got a lucky goal and barely troubled McLaughlin. 1 defeat in 40 league matches isn’t s*itt*ng the bed.

Be greedy young man. Bags of ability I just want to see him be a bit more direct. Some times releases that ball too early. When he’s going the only way to stop him is by fouling.

Our pre season hasn’t been ideal. Last three seasons we’ve also had early qualifiers. Players still a bit away. It’s shown in our last two games. We are still in the tie and know what’s required. Win and it’s extra time. Win by out scoring them and we are through to the play off round.

Agreed. We need both a box to box player similar in style to Stuart McColl and a number 10. For all the midfielders we have none of them can effectively play either of these roles.
Midfield for me lacks a bit of drive, pace, urgency. It’s too slow at times. We need a midfielder that can keep the ball moving, always looking for a forward pass, plays with his head up. Links attacks. The trio yesterday was too flat, the balance wasn’t right and the ball was moved at a pace that allowed Dundee Utd to get back into position. There were no angles, no one willing to up the tempo, no one willing to take a chance. Hagi is great at moving the ball, picking out those passes but he’s not a CM.

Pre season last year our players were kept on their toes during lockdown. They trained at home. We had a very good pre season over in France and the early European qualifiers helped.
This summer we saw the Copa and European Championships. We had players still recovering from injuries and the spacing between the friendlies wasn’t ideal. We are still trying to find our feet. Unfortunately some players aren’t ready and that’s shown in our last two matches. Defeat in the league was inevitable, that doesn’t make the performance or attitude alright but it was happening at some stage.

Dare I say we need a different type of midfielder to Ryan Jack?

Give Lundstram some time but meantime he should be benched till he is up to speed.
Surely in order to get up to speed, he needs games? Right now he looks unfit and he’s not the only one.

Defending a league title is always hard. Lot of pressure on, even more so given what’s at stake.
celtic under Postecoglou won’t be as bad as made out to be. Can see both sides dropping a lot of points. Last season was a one off.
Our first defeat in 40 and all of a sudden we are not very good. Strong guts are required. Surely our Champions deserve better. -

He’s replaced Bongani Zungu in terms of squad position. IE; squad player. We need a different type of player to Lundstram in the midfield. Just like we needed last summer.

Not the start we all thought. Defeat was inevitable. Just not the manner two on the bounce.
Manager and players have bought the right to be given the time to turn it around but that needs to be put right on Tuesday.
Full house at Ibrox. Let’s go…

After 10+ years out.
In said years we’ve gone from Champions, miles ahead, to our lowest. We’ve bounced back and 55’ was delivered. 2021/22 has just begun, not the way we all expected but it’s early doors.
We know what’s required on Tuesday - a win, the bare minimum. We take care of Malmö and we bank £5m. Then comes the two tie £30m battle against Olympiacos or Ludogorets.
The season hasn’t started the way we all thought it would, but it’s not over - nothing has been lost and there is plenty to be positive about.
We go again in three days time.

Jack is a great option to have but we never missed him yesterday. What the midfield missed isn’t currently at the club.
