  1. Amen! I can't believe people are saying they'd have McGeady - I wouldn't take him if we were paid. He is a sinister, foul little creature - the fans of whom preach national pride yet he chooses to play for Ireland. The smug, self-satisfaction of some of their players (McDonald, Hartson, Robson, McGreedy, Caldwell, Boruc) makes me feel sick. As for Strachan, he is like the apologetic father who is embarrassed to learn that the gaggle of children he abandoned in his youth have been raised as tearaways by a fretting, incapable mother who complained to the headmaster when her children were verbally provoked yet they were the playground bullies. None of them thanks.
  2. Not personally but my mate has been raving about it non-stop since Christmas. Do us a favor and write a book review! Then I might finally read it.
  3. I think that most of the players we kept from last season still have a League/European hangover - McGregor, Broadfoot, Weir, Papac all seem markedly worse than they were last season. Even Adam & Lee McC had their moments (at least - more than this season). And, since losing Hutton and Cuellar, what made us good last season has diminished greatly. The team seemed hungrier - starting their first season under Smith (the man, the legend) and the only real expectation was to bring back stability in the post-Le Guen era. They were average players free to express themselves - and they ended up outdoing themselves. Now that we are back in the drudgery of a season we expect to win back the title that was robbed of us, they have returned to being average players - exposed by the scrutiny of expectation. And Kenny Mhisser was a pish signing!!
  4. That was really offensive. I feel like a p*ssy but that honestly made me sad. When will it all end? Who will make them see? We need a Broxi-Obama type.
  5. Just as an aside, I hear the sheep's pitch is long and narrow so as to lessen the impact of wingers and drag the opposition into a dog fight. Direct play is generally best on these pitches so I would start Fleck but as an attacking mid. Not positive how I'd line up the rest of the team but that's how I would go.
  6. Don't want him to go. Looks a good player and has settled in well. I've heard a few rumours tho that he's not well liked in the dressing room. Meant to be quite arrogant and unpopular. Just a rumour I heard. Anyone heard anything similar? i know one player in the team and majid is a fantastic guy all the player like him is respectable and very happy guy all time smiley Biggin' up Boogie and only 2 posts before being banned...is that you Boogie?...or...Joe Kinnear?!
  7. could he see foresee financial meltdown of the country? as was prob quite happy to have the debt floating at around 30m as we could sustain that if not for this crisis then the bank would not be requesting money. on the other hand i can see where people are coming from regarding squad size and how it grew to be so big but then if he hadnt sanctioned the spending the very same people you included most likely would be on here kicking up a stink that we have no ambition to take the title back from celtic WHATS THE MAN GOT TO DO DAMNED IF HE DOES DAMNED IF HE DOESNT You act as if being a chairman is all about putting money into a club. Murray has failed in so many other departments - 1/ He has consistently failed to offer verbal/moral/any support to fans who are mistreated by stewards, police, the media and the courts. He goes so far as to act ashamed of this club. 2/ He has failed to make headway in any international markets DESPITE reaching a European cup final. He is oblivious to modern day marketing strategies and so failed to make many millions. 3/ He, like every other person in a position of real financial power, was warned about the credit crunch and it's impact. Even Ken Livingston saw it coming!!
  8. I don't know enough about the matter to say what the effect will be, but won't this be bad news for any talented fringe players over 20? Granted, the youth team remains but I'd rather see guys like Fleck working WITH Edu (for example) on the same pitch. Personally, I think I'd like to go the opposite route and try to really make something of our reserve team. After all, don't they say the best squad is one where you can cover every position (give or take the few multi-position players)? That should make for a high quality second string 11 getting match practice. Ok, so the opposition wouldn't be great, but players would remain able to string passes together, work on set-pieces and allow the management to rate them easier than on the sole evidence of what they see on the training pitch. (sorry if this is a re-post - I was on holiday when the article was published)
  9. And second of all - he seems to be saying that Walter wants Boyd to go and that it is all part of his big tactical plan! I think it's more likely that Murray is kicking Boyd out the door for the cash and saying f*ck the tactics!
  10. If this guy is getting paid to write then it is a f*cking injustice. First of all, he says Boyd doesn't score when it matters - against Celtic and in Europe. But he then he goes on to say that from the strikers we have left we will get the goals that matter against the Hamiltons and Inverness's. Did he even bother to re-read what he had written?
  11. Maybe all our money is disappearing on staff. While Rangers staff members might lead a life of style and dignity, the staff at Celtic are maybe all taken into a big dining hall once a day to eat tatties from a trough. That'd free up some pennies for wages, right?!
  12. I used to work for the Rangers store on George Street in Edinburgh before it closed down. I was studying product design at the time so had a bit of an understanding about branding/marketing etc. And I was always baffled, based on the quality of stock on offer and how it was displayed etc, that we ever sold a single item (besides the kits). Rangers could be made into a massive international brand. The potential in my opinion is gargantuan! Even the clubs colours tell a story. The problem lies in the fact that Rangers, like most clubs, stick to the same old basic, homogenized branding and don't take the time to diversify themselves. When Rangers want a product designed, they go to some 'products-are-us' type company that only cares about meeting deadlines and hands back the same old standardized tat you get in 95% of team stores across the country. For a 15 year old in Japan looking to buy some cool merch his mates don't even know about he hits the net and then comes across the Rangers website - Rangers f*ckin' TV?!?! A completely non-engrossing encounter that inspires nothing in the neutral. And while other big teams have these crap websites/products, they often have either more interesting players, more success or a better international image. I understand the fact that we maybe don't want to pander to fairweather fans the way Manchester United does, but herein lies an opportunity to further the clubs finances - the main area that seems to be causing rifts at Ibrox right now. Let the stagnant marketing staff currently there keep doing their job so as not to shake things up too much - but spend the extra pennies on a young, adventurous marketing company who's sole job it is to promote the clubs brand through ventures of innovation and originality.
  13. John....is that you wee man? Did you set up an account to beef up your cause for a starting slot? 5:41am too.....hope that wasn't you just back in from the nightclubs!! I'm surprised your mum lets you on at that time of day too! :unionflag: :unionflag: Didn't need to mate, we need the likes of you in pronto mate!! Aye mate it is me - John. I was out drinkin last night. Someone suggested if I put on 6 stone so I might be able to take Adam's place on the left. If that doesn't work I'll hit the class A's and go for Boyd's place.
  14. It's their fault for setting the bar so low. We can only go by the standards that are set. If a paper cup gets punished then a paper ball has to aswell. It's the SFA's job (or one of these higher powers) to decide whats fair - not us! And as for not bein allowed to wear blue and green - well...I'd happily not wear any green anyway!
  15. "Last week, Rangers manager Walter Smith confirmed he would use the young striker in this season's SPL campaign. He said: "Fleck is still only 16 but he will get games this year."" http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/scottish-...78057-20700241/ We all know WS doesn't start youth players, and I'm sure even the youngsters themselves know that by now, but why does he make promises he can't (or should I say won't) keep? He will just make them more frustrated and want to leave - after all, other clubs will be able to keep their promises and play them WHILE paying them more. Just because at Rangers you can never sacrifice games doesn't mean you can't play the odd youngster every other week, or bring on a couple when your 3 goals ahead (even if that's rare). If Fleck is half as good as people say he is and if he can indeed play on the left, why not take a chance on him in a position that NOONE else is capable of playing well in? If WS won't play the 17 year old PRODIGY during a CRISIS in a VACANT position then he will never get his chance!!!!
  16. Scott Arfield playing for Rangers Scott Arfield family photo ...no wait...that's Garfield!!
  17. In light of the fact that our international credibility is so low among many important/powerful circles, people like Britney just seem like bandwaggon hoppers & attention/approval seekers to me. I think we are harmed by the fact that we care so much about the club and are always quick to defend ourselves and answer their questioning head on. In answering the questions they pose, we give weight to the underlying discourse - we give weight to the notion that we are sectarian etc. If we focus our efforts on asking questions of other journalists/teams/religious factions we will add weight to the notion that they have an underlying agenda. THAT might be the reason why no serious challenge has been posed to Britney - we are subconsciously aware of the fact that he, as our detractor, is in a position of power.
  18. Hi folks, I'm new to this forum so don't know if you have discussed this yet but the topic of fan ownership, or just who might be the next owner of Rangers is something that interests me - especially when you consider that David Murray isn't exactly loved by all. I think Rangers are one of the few clubs in the world where the fans are precious enough about their team to put their money where their mouth is and actually take control of the club without the expectation of financial gain. 1/ Do you support fan ownership? 2/ If so, in what context (e.g a small group of a wealthy and hard core owners, mass free-to-all ownership, Barca style?) 3/ How much would you be willing/able to contribute? 4/ What rights/privileges would you expect? 5/ Who would you like to see in charge of your investment and under what hierarchical structure?
  19. I'm getting a bit sick of hearing about Rangers money woes. It's not that I don't believe we have them, but it's penny pinching that has led to us WASTING money on a barrel load of useless players who are all being kicked out now anyway. I'd rather we paid more attention to how a player might slot into the team as a unit rather than who represents the best pound-for-pound bargain. It's like buying clothes - yeah you can get an entire wardrobe for pennies in Primark that people won't laugh at you for wearing, but after a short while it will fall to pieces and you'll wish you'd just got a quality outfit at Marks instead!......well, it's sort of like that......
  20. ^^^ Brilliant, just brilliant. And for the record, I don't think it's true. The real question is, do you want it to be true? And for myself, I don't know the answer...
  21. We already have my first choice players anyway - McCulloch and Adam. But for the sake of the question, I'd bring back Sebo and have him do the hokey cokey. With the joke of a country this is becoming it would at least bring a smile back at this festive period. Or maybe Boruc, cos at least then we could make sure his life is a misery due to a serious training 'accident.' How bout we get Ronaldo, ship him off to Real for 30+ million then use the money to build a time machine and bring back Laudrup, Gazza, Albertz, De Boer as youth players? But, seriously, I reckon I'd take a young player so you know he'd still need to play well to earn his stripes. I'd take Krkic - he's scored a stupidly high amount of goals as a youth player (I think its literally about 1000) and he's still only 18.
