  1. Brilliant, you know I think the real problem is people taking Fish too seriously not Ally... I have said it before and will say it again ... Fish is like Father Jack from Father Ted... drink girls feck ... murray pay up or gtf and take yer bumboy bain wi ye....drink.... Goan yersel super ally,
  2. 0-0 bore draw... Watty is playing it tight with Rae
  3. Apparently around 7% of the support??
  4. How do you set up a poll to ask everyone their views on Barry Ferguson... legend or not??
  5. Just a joke. Mathews played for us as a guest during the war and Best played in the match to raise money for the disaster, although technically that was a Rangers/Celtic IX. Still...must rank in the top 5 players who played for us? YYeah Wikipedia solved the mystery... I now understand you were joking but seriously Laudrup played his best football with us, I admit I thought it was more than 133 games but still. I guess it is always debatable but he, along with Gazza were just such a joy to watch. during their time with Rangers. Best, Matthews maybe the most legendary players ever to have played a game with us but Laudo.. Rangers legend... IMO Well Gascoigne was never a 'joy' for me but that's a different story. I agree Laudrup was a great player as was Gascoigne but I just think that one of the qualifications for legend status should be that you played a substantial amount of games for the club. In Gascoigne's case we weren't even his main club as he actually played more for Newcastle and Spurs. The hat trick against aberdeen to win the title? Not a joy? Possibly the best single performance I have ever seen from an individual... the double against hearts in the cup after knocking back a whisky at half time?? That wasn't a joy to behold? Many other performances that were just a pleasure to witness. The man may not rank as a legend in the same way as Laudrup but Gazza was often brilliant for us. Anyway I understand your view and its fair, I personally just don't feel the longevity is a necessary criterion for legend.

  7. So Stanley Mathews and George Best are Rangers legends ? Ferguson will never be a legend in my eyes....never.Sorry... am not very good at the quoting thing, but I am not following your George Best and Stanley Mathews references??
  8. While I agree that the word Legend is thrown around with too much ease... Laudrup has to be classed as a legend. He is possibly the best player to ever have played for the club. Certainly in the top 5. I would also say that when Fergie is done in 5 or 6 years he will be remembered with legendary status. Boyd.... he may be a legend one day but its way way to early to know for sure... if he carries on like he is for the rest of the decade then he has a chance... I don't think there is a defined set of criteria to qualify a legend... for example would Negri be classed as a legend... his scoring feat over 6 months are certainly stuff of legend
  9. Am I alone in thinking that its a sad indictment of the modern game that McLeish's best signing is considered to be a guy who only played for the club for 6 months? I totally understand why this is considered as a great piece of business but surely in years to come we won't look back and say gee it was great that we got 8 million for that guy... Look at the other guys that are being talked about here, Baxter, Morton, Laudrup, Cooper, McCoist, Ferguson, Butcher, Gough, ... legends... and all being considered for their performance on the park... Boumsong? Great bit of business but hardly a club legend.. McLeish made lots of rubbish signings but surely Ferguson, Prso and Boyd are more deserving than Boumsong of being remembered as his best signing?? And before you all start I know that we would not have been able to get some of the important players without that 8 million
  10. Graeme Souness' best signing had to be Terry Butcher... the guy was England captain at the time and was just an outstanding CH. I couldn't believe some of the 60 yard passes he used to fire straight to someones feet. He also attracted other england players of the time like Wilkins, Steven, Stevens, Woods etc.. Signing Terry Butcher gave us more credibility in the transfer market... will we EVER sign the captain of england again, could you imagine signing Gerrard, or Beckham previously
  11. Yeah ... kinda like father Jack from Father Ted... Sits in the corner and mumbles ... DRINK .... murray... bain ... bumboy GTF ... DRINK
  12. I actually enjoy Fish's postings. I mostly disagree with him and he can get a bit repetitive but I think he sticks to his guns and makes some interesting points. He is certainly not alone in his opinions even if he is alone in his methods. If you don't like it then just ignore it, its easily done. I have watched his postings for over 18 months now. From Tullythetrueblue to fishonafriday to now just thefish and he has never altered his tact. (I suspect he was some pirate character for a while too) I have stopped myself from yelling A CARPENTER'S TOOL INDEED on many occassions and having now got over that urge I just don't get annoyed about it anymore and actually get quite entertained by it. I don't think it does any harm to have people who have different views from the majority and it certainly is not doing any harm when the guy is only trying to highlight what he feels is in the clubs best interests..... Someone has on their signature that "I may not agree with what you say but I defend to the death your right to say it"... l
  13. Understood and agreed, I was just pointing out that Fish's comments were not as "insane" as suggested. I happen to be slightly pro-Murray although I do think in recent times the signs are that changes are needed
  14. Murray is on record as saying 20 years is enough... by his own admission it is time for him to move on. Fish has said there is an icelandic dude with money to burn interested in investing in a football club (Hertz) So his thought process is , if this guy is interested why is Murray not courting his business? Whats wrong wi that? trouble is that people see Fish and assume he is being a prck without reading his post... Where has he said anything about Murray being to blame for the mess at HMFC???
  15. Yet the article quotes Brown directly and says he has withdrawn his tranfer request. He is also insinuating that Hibs will not force him out. Almost sounds as if he wants to see out his contract and make Hibs lose out on the transfer fee.... Bit childish if so
  16. The Daily Record has an exclusive saying he is now going to see out his contract until 2009... who believes this? What is his angle in saying that? Why are other media outlets so certain he will follow Thomson along the M8? Strange article!!
  17. Got to hand it to Smith he knows how to purge the club from foreigners, next you know Svenson and Hemdani will be wearing big yellow stars to training
  18. But was there any severance deal? Did we pay to get rid of him?
  19. We can wait and see what tomorrow brings but what do you feel is the BEST CASE SCENARIO? Hartley, Gow, McCulloch, Brown and Thompson all sign on deadline day... thats best case? I don't think anyone believes that Brown and Thomson are going to sign.. do you? That leaves McCulloch, Gow and Hartley... none of them are really very exciting are they?
  20. Na its usually anti but today its very very and growing by the hour....if he doesnt make quality signings before midnight the mora it will reach an all time high that will be irreversable <scared> I have to admit that today I am feeling quite anti -murray as well. Unlike you Fish, thats unusual for me. But the behaviour in the last couple of weeks has got me thinking. That we are on the eve of the transfer window closing and have not brought in anyone significant (or below 34) is mildly concerning. That we are failing in bids to bring relatively low standard players in is a bit more worriesome but the fact that we are offloading players despite the failure to recruit first is outright embarrassing... I have not been overly happy with those we have been linked with but the fact that we are linked with them and then failing to get them suggests that there is some other agenda... Sorry, I may be proved completely wrong tomorrow but today its how I feel
  21. I fully agree with this, Boyd is how old? 22/23? He has been with us only a year and has scored into the 30's? What age was McCoist when he arrived at Ibrox. How many goals had he racked up after one calander year.. How good was McCoist at flick ons and holding up the ball, how much work did he contribute outside the 18 Yard box? I remember someone asking on the BBC forum if Boyd would score 100 goals for Rangers, does anyone now doubt that he will? Boyd is not our problem, he should be the second name on the teamsheet every week, he will improve, he will have his off days but I believe he has the potential to go on to be a legend
  22. *yawn* Same old pish, different day In Fish's defence, surely his point is starting to become significant? Seriously, it could be argued that they tried this last transfer window as well, I remember some guy called Tully the true blue (remember him FISH) saying on the BBC forum that there was no serious intention of signing Riordan it was just Murray trying to pull the wool over the fans eyes and pretending he was active in the transfer market... but here the same thing is happening??? People should at least consider all viewpoints... Smith joins club, Smith identifies signing targets, Murray/Bain make offers for said targets... "eh, sorry Walter we tried but they were so unreasonable".... I happen to think that we should not be held to ransom over Gow who is out of contract in the summer, that Lee MCulloch is not worth anymore than we are offering and the Hartley is worth no more than a million quid but you have to ask yourself, if Smith has identified these guys as the players he needs then why all the posturing.... I hope it is all revealed as brilliant business and brinkmanship but am starting to doubt it
  23. I fancy that we will be more up for the fight the next time we play Celtic if not quite having the quality. I will be more confident that we can shut them out now that I would ever have been had PLG stayed... Ugo and Weir are better equipped to nullify the threat of that vinegar bloke but like alot of people I worry about our lack of pace... My heart would have me believe we can sneak a 1-0 win next time we play them... as you point out my head would probably say 0-0 or a 1-0 loss is more likely. Howeve ever that is progress, under PLG I seriously would not have been surprised if we had been on the end of a right tanking, that defence was capable of leaking 4 or more goals in a game
  24. Did we not beat Dunfermline 1-0.... any thats being pedantic... I agree that there really has been no discernible turnround in our performance... we were up and down under PLG as well... However there would appear to be a better atmosphere around the club wouldn't you say? Time alone will tell McLeish's comments today shed a little more light on things and makes you wonder ... if only for a second... if he was not hard done by????
  25. Apparently we are on the brink of signing an 18 year old Danish striker... anyone ever heard of this guy? Adda Djeziri???
