  1. the thing is i am not insired by the bench... would like to have seen Novo come on for Whittaker and hemdani for thomson... but Faye and Adam are not going to change this game
  2. midfield is having a nightmare... whittaker is giving the ball away every time
  3. I don't think 6 points will do it... We have the toughest run in of the three, France should get all 9 points, Italy should also get 9, including us... we still have a huge job on our hands. Ukraine and Georgia away are by no means forgone conclusions We have done brilliantly to be sitting here doing the maths but it will still take a minor miracle for us to make it... hope we do though
  4. Clearly my memory is shocking because as I remember Soti was a fecken liability on the park. Gave away ridiculous free kicks, got sent off stupidly too often... (How many Reds did he get? Is this just my poor memory again?) and he also tried to engineer his way out of Rangers before realising no-one else wanted him so reluctantly came back... or did I just dream all that?
  5. not as a lone striker no, i cant remember any1 ever saying they would play him as a loan striker Precisely, If we were playing 2 upfront then yes I would play Boyd even against Barca. However if, as is likely, we go for one up front then he would not get near the team. I think WS knows this and I think he knew this even while Manager of Scotland. Even against Barca?what are you smoking?the only reason he got a game today was because it was against the worse team at home, and he still looked lacking. Bench-warmer at best. Yeah Ok, you are entitled to your opinion. I am entitled to mine so there is no need for the "what have you been smoking" sh@te. I personally wouldn't play two up against Barca so he wouldn't be in my team, but IF we did play 2 upfront then he would be in my team every time 71 Appearances 48 goals, I agree to disagree...
  6. Maybe, but I doubt it, I think it will continue to be 4-5-1 in europe. Hemdani protecting the back four.
  7. I wouldn't disagree with Davie needing a rest but if Steely's point was that Gow doesn't deserve a chance then what has Webster done that is any different? (Reserve matches that both players have played) Broadfoot could have played? There is no answer to these questions, we cannot see what goes on in training, we cannot know how WS rates players. Maybe he rates Webster over Broadfoot, maybe he rates Several players over Gow, maybe he feels that Gow is not mentally ready to play for Rangers due to his family bereavments, maybe he thought it was more important to have Naismith on the bench today than Gow. Maybe maybe maybe The point is that Gow will get his chance when the time is right and he better be sure that he gives it all he has got as the competition for places is brilliant

  9. Nah, Riordan is arguably the second best striker at that club.... Gow may be a good player but there are players ahead of him that are there on merit. Plus Gow has had personal problems that have delayed the start to his career. If he is good enough he will force his way into the team
  10. I think this slating of Boyd is fairly endemic of the Rangers support, we always seem to value a hard working striker who can’t score over a goal machine who contributes little else. Salenko (goal every 2 games), Flo (Goal every 2 games), Erik Bo Andersen (goal average better than every 2 games), even the legend that is McCoist took a slating in his early days with the club because he “didn’t do enoughâ€. And perhaps most comically of all, there is the criticism that was aimed at Negri because he didn’t smile when he scored, didn’t celebrate enough ffs. When we signed him, Boyd was sarcastically likened to the new Steven Thompson by many of our own support and there was a thread dedicated to “will Boyd score 100 Goals for Rangers†on the BBC forum. People were ticking them off and counting down as he started working his way towards that target. He is very nearly half way there in only 54 starts, in fact he has scored more goals for Rangers than Steven Thompson has scored in his entire career. Boyd has his deficiencies, no doubt. But I simply don’t understand why he is not highly valued by the entire Rangers support as a young, Scottish, Rangers Supporting, Goal Machine who cost the club less than half a million pounds Does anyone doubt he will score 100 goals for Rangers now?
  11. He isn't scoring enough though. If he was scoring every week then yes keep him in the side, but two goals is not a good enough return for a striker who "scores goals" If Cuellar only made two tackles/blocks/won two headers over a period of five games we would want him dropped. Boyd is no different! I disagree, the game is about scoring goals, one is enough to win the game, we can't compare that with tackles/blocks... ok he has had a dry spell but he will come good again. However he should never be played upfront alone, he should always be played in a two man strike force But with players like Cousin, JCD, Naismith and McCulloch waiting in the wings why should we stick with Boyd in the hope that he comes good again? We have the squad to not have to pin our hopes on one player finding his touch again! I also hate this "he should always play in a two man strike force rubbish. We shouldn't in a million years be adopting our tactics/formation around Boyd, he doesn't have the quality to justify it. If he can't play upfront on his own, then we simply don't play him! "If he can't play upfront on his own, then we simply don't play him!" - I agree with this, if we are playing one man upfront it shouldn't be boyd. but I stand by playing Boyd in a two man strike force the same as I would playing McCoist 10 years ago in a 2 man strike force. No-one, ever, in the history of football has scored every game. Boyd scored today. in fact he scored the first goal. Its not as if he nicked one at the end in a 4 goal rout. He opened the scoring. We didn't have to "stick" with Boyd very long before he ended his "drought" did we? Boyd would be the in my starting eleven every time, despite his failings

  13. 4-4-2 McGregor Hutton-Cuellar-Weir-Smith Whittaker-Ferguson-Thomson-McCulloch Boyd-Naismith
  14. Well I think thats about the worst group we could have got. But Barcelona aside, I believe we can shut those teams out. Our defence has been good so far, now its a matter of getting the goals.. I believe we can get 3rd and who knows... we just have to give it a go For what its worth I think Celtic have a much easier group than us and as much as I hate to say it they may have a chance of getting second in that group...
  15. Bump this thread so that we can see another reason for the Ruskies to go through! If they win then Celtic drop out and we move up a notch....
  16. There is also the matter of the co-efficient. As Celtic would drop into the UEFA and probably gain just as many points there as in the CL, (more even), it's a no brainer. Come on the Russkies. Is there not an issue of seedings as well? I thought i read that we need 2 teams who are seeded above us to drop out and we move into pot 3 rather than pot 4. Celltic going out would move help move us up a pot no???? Irrespective ... 'mon the the ruskies
  17. well isn't he just full of his contradictions...? Lets see RSB were the better side but Rangers showed enormous experience...? RSB should have gone through but Rangers stayed calm and prevented them from scoring? RSB are the better team but in both games they played out their skin and better than usual?? Bollox.. he is trying to put a brave face on the fact that despite trying to kick lumps out of us for the first 90 minutes our superior footballing ability won the tie, I can only assume he is right that they played better than they normally would but it wasn't good enough and if you can't put the ball in the net in 2 legs then you are not good enough to go through.. he is a fanny
  18. I agree, I really don't see whats wrong with this. Yes the incident of which Big Jock alledgedly held knowledge is pretty unsavoury, but our reminding the self proclaimed TGFIW of this knowledge is nothing more than a wind up. We are not celebrating that CFC were associated with Paedophillia, we are reminding them that their greatest manager was not lily white. Its not nearly as bad as opposing fans celebrating the Ibrox disaster or Davie Coopers death. PC has gone mad, its just a wind up, they hate it, its brilliant. Its brilliance is in the fact that it is not racist, sectarian, ageist, or even offensive in itself. It doesn't even really matter if Big Jock did actually know, the fact is it winds them up something rotten and they cando hee haw about it
  19. I have to say that I am astonished by this thread. I think Allan McGregor has done very very well. He was a huge Asset to Dunfermline when on loan to them. He has since come back and done a quality job between the sticks for us. He made the position his own despite PLG favouring Letizi and has continued to improve. he has never let us down which is praise indeed considering the same cannot be said for more fashionable keepers like Gordon and Boruc. he has on occassion saved us from defeats. People should get off his back and look elsewhere in the team for deficiencies, I would take Allan McGregor over Craig Gordon every time. Having said all that.... if someone offered 9 million for him then I suppose I would take the money :-)
  20. until 5 games ago I would have said Richard Gough, but with Cuellar now strutting his stuff I would have to say Laudrup, with Gazza a close second. Although Notable mentions would have to go to Ronald DeBoer, Trevor Steven and Davie Cooper. Any creative midfielder really...
  21. Sorry but Cousin refutes this theory straight off... in considerably less playing time he has shown he has the basics and could blossom into a decent signing for us. Also the coaching staff will not only have the competetive matches in which to assess the players ability, they have the training sessions too. Sebo, does not look like a footballer. He looks completley out of place and as much as I enjoy his enthusiasm, unless he can come on to a game and soon then I think he should be finished with Rangers. He may go on and prove his ability elsewhere but surely his time has run out at ibrox, its not just about scoring, he has poor touch, poor control, no composure. Will be delighted to be wrong, Anyway the thread is about JCD and i think he has looked ok he has strength and runs at defences, I think he will play the lone striker role better than Kris Boyd.
  22. Now I tend to think you may be right... HOWEVER... Do you think someone will make us a sufficiently substantial offer??? I mean we are going to have to be offered ALOT of money to part with him... what do you think it will take and who would offer it??? I read somewhere he has a £5 million "get out" clause. Where did you hear that? I never heard anything about that after he signed and it would seem a strange clause for him to request given that he publicly stated that he wasn;t using Rangers as a stepping stone??
