  1. I would rather have McCoist. He came up with the goods so often, and for so many years, plus he always scored against Celtic
  2. Goram, the guy was probably the best shot stopper in the world at his peak, only Schmeichal was a better keeper at the time. Goram won us games as often as McCoist
  3. Think that was me asking you the ins and outs of the deal. My alternative motives? To understand why you and many others like Frankie etc are so convinced its going to happen so that I too can believe it. I have no motives other than that? I hope youse are right, as someone living overseas and with no sources at Rangers, I personally cannae see it happening, but I certainly have no hidden agenda....
  4. Is Klos retiring from professional football? I now its outside the realms of possibility but I genuinely would like it if he stayed with us on a vastly reduced salary. If he is retiring he would have nothing to lose from it He has been very loyal to us and would be great backup and could help bring through the youth keepers and perhaps go on to be a coach. He is not very old for a goalie and could conceivably play for another 5 years.... Never going to happen I know...
  5. Great day and great memories, but makes me sad to think how much better we were back then compared to now, I know its accepted that these are dark days but compare the players of now to the players in that team against Dunfemrline..... De Boer, Mols, Arveladze, Amoruso, Arteta, Numan, Cannigia.... even Ricksen.... I don't think there is a single player in that team that would not be a first choice now and improve us considerably. Also we played a 4-3-3 against substandard opposition... ah those were the days when we actually believed in ourselves and went out to score goals
  6. Right, before its said, my head is not in the sand ok... However perhaps Ally is referring the fact that they have already steadied the ship and that he feels with a couple of quality additions to the starting 11 we will be good enough to compete with Celtic. Gow and Broadfoot are not the quality additions, and Ally must know this. They will be looking to add strength in depth and these two provide that bench strength, no more than that. Ally just realises that we are not a million miles behind Celtic, they are just a little less pish than we are or were in the early season anyway. A good forward to partner Boyd and a skilled and consistent creative spark in midfield will be enough to win us this league... problem is we don't just want to win the league, we want to dominate Scottish football for years to come (as we should) and start to make inroads into European success. To do that will require the reconstruction we all talk about and that our chairman apparently hasn't got the stomach for
  7. Well lets look at the evidence.... Since Clement left we have dropped how many ??? 4 points, we have yet to lose in the league, we have out performed the champions elect and the guy playing in his position has picked up the clubs POTY award..... No we don't miss him, the guy didn't want to play for the club he wanted to play for the departed manager ... glad he went so quickly
  8. The real deal mate. I think making Hutton captain would get even more of out him in terms of improving his discipline on and off the field. Much in the same way it helped Beckham, Cantona and the likes. That would take the pressure of Ferguson and would ensure we had a long term skipper. Weir might be the obvious alternative to Fergie but just how long will be be playing? Stevie Smith is another future suggestion but this season I think Hutton has been one of the few players to show determination, pride, commitment and spirit - all virtues he could pass onto his team-mates. I don't think its a bad shout at all... given the options at the moment and assuming that its an alternative to Ferguson, I would only see two options really, Hutton and another controversal one.... POTY Hemdani
  9. Unless we get a seriously good offer for him I think we should keep him. I have been impressed not just with his play this season but his attitude as well. Even in the dark days of the PLG/Fergie Debacle he kept his head while all around were losing theirs. I am delighted this has been recognised with the POTY award at the club. Only way I would part with him is if an offer was well over 3 million
  10. Different set of circumstances, if we were building a new state of the art stadium to replace an ageing relic then we may need to look at his option. However, we are lucky enough to have our own state of the art stadium in place already. We are not failing to scale the heights because of a few quid that could be made in the short term on our stadium name, we are failing to scale the heights because we do not have millions coming in regularly from TV and other sponsorship. the money we do have coming in, we are too often using on short term success rather than long term stability. Make no mistake, selling the name of our stadium would not propel us into the realms of Champions league success just as selling the merchandising to JJB will not guarantee us any silverware...
  11. What baffles me is how he can be unfit or overweight, I think the same about Kris Boyd.. there is no excuse for a professional footballer in this day and age to be carrying any excess flab or being anything less than fit to run for 90 minutes non-stop. What the hell are they doing at training? Sitting behind the floodlights smoking tabs and eating pies? The coaching staff should be having a serious word in their ear and getting them on double shifts for fitness training. I think it is outrageous that they get paid several thousand pounds A WEEK and have the audacity to waddle around looking knackered after 60 minutes.... and I think the coaches need to shoulder some of the blame Perhaps if Adam lost a stone he might find he does have some pace and perhaps he would not get such a hard time.... Rant Over
  12. I would be very disappointed if we resorted to selling the name of our stadium, the line of commercialism has to be drawn somewhere. What would be next, the club name? Want to sell the rights to Richard Branson and be called Virgin Rangers? No lets advertise all we like and keep our identity...
  13. I notice the rumours of Craig Gordon have died away in the last few months? Is this because he is now well and truely out of our budget? Or is it just that we no longer rate him? I think McGregor should get our backing as the #1 and we should develop the youth keeper (Robinson??) and perhaps bring in another wisened pro to nurture them both, someone in the twilight of their career.... In fact why not offer Klos a vastly reduced salary to stay on, say 5k per week??? He is not that old for a Goalie.... or maybe not
  14. No way will he leave after winning two leagues on the trot and getting to the last 16. They are not going to sack him and why would he leave under his own volition? Nah he will be there next season and he will be shown up for the pish manager that I believe him to be. He will be put in the shade next season and be gone at some point in the season after that
  15. Surely not slower than Charlie Adam? There are oil tankers turn quicker than him.. On Boyd, the only MINOR problem I have with him is that he thinks he has made it. Confidence is good but even the likes of Thierry Henry try to improve themselves. I have seen people mention on here before saying that Boyd considers himself a big time charlie now and that he has nothing to prove?? I just think thats a bit of a dangerous attitude for a 23 year old. Reminds me of Charlie Millers attitude and look what happened there.... Anyway its minor and he is doing what he is paid to do which is score the goals, I am not asking for anything else.
  16. Well mate if this turns out to be the case I will be delighted, I think getting Thompson and Brown together for that price would be a good bit of business. I can't see Rae being the one going the other way though as he is out of contract anyway isn't he? I am still sceptical, as it seems a strange way of doing it, but I will be happy to be suprised for once.
  17. Please can someone explain to me why so many are convinced that this is the case? Is it just hope? Is there some basis for believing this? I am just surprised that so many are so utterly convinced that he will join us? When asked people normally just say "wait and See" or something equally vague. From afar, I have seen no reason why he would be joining us in the summer unless we are the winners of whatever ensuing bidding war that will commence at the end of the season. I think the chances of him joining us are no better then 60:40 AGAINST. My reasoning? He is attracting interest from south of the border, and Celtic will really want to gazump us so will endeavour to drive the price out of our reach. Hibs will just want to get maximum cash for him so I really cannot see him going for less than 4 million and I do not believe he is worth that nor that we would pay it even if he was. No wasn't told the ins and oots of it my friend ! Just told it was done. Who's McStay ? Do you mean McKay ? If you do don't think he would be left out of it, got a feelin him and Murray are pretty thick ! Gonna explain this wance mer, he wis there for 5 days of talks at the New Year but it only took him 30 seconds to decide, he wis only there for the 5 days because he didnae want tae leave the place cause he's like the guy that posted the thread 'IBROX' he wid staun ootside and look at the place for weeks, cause him, his family are died in the wool bluenoses. Can't reveal my source but if you don't believe it thats your perogative. ! PS - And ma perogative is a don't care whether you believe it or not ! Thanks, I appreciate your indulgence.. Now if you could perhaps indulge me further. Did your source reveal what price had been agreed with Hibs for the signing? Did Hibs agree a non-negotiable figure that was not open for discussion despite other teams interest or despite an improved stock due to international appearances? Was it part of the agreement that Brown come out and say, for the record, that he was going nowhere at the end of the season or indeed til the end of his contract? Was McStay involved with the agreement or are his overtures to other clubs because he wasn't made aware that the deal is done therefore his efforts to drive the price up are futile? Is this agreement your source talks of purely between Broonaldo and Rangers? Sorry for all the queries, just trying to get my head round it, as I don't really understand how this works?? Aye, sorry, meant McKay...

  20. I just logged in to make this exact point. I was going to ask who do you think our fastest player is because today its hard to figure out? Maybe Hutton? Think Hutton is having a good game actually...
  21. Gazza would be more comparable with Zidane I think, Gerrard is not much of a dribbler... don't think Gazza was quite as good as Zidane but he can comfortably be mentioned in the same sentence in my opinion. Laudrup would be comparable with Giggs or even Christiano Ronaldo... The calibre of players that we had no right in getting then and we would never get now... PS I have had a few beers so I may be reminiscing with blue tinted memories
  22. But in Fairness, the only selling point is quite a large one... playing in the premiership is a huge attraction for players. Also I really don't buy this Thomson/Brown double act, honestly unless they are genuinely gay lovers, I don't see them making career and life altering decisions based on what their mate is doing. And if they are gay lovers then they shouldn't be working together, shouldn't mix business with pleasure... I rate Brown as a player and think it would be great if he signed for Rangers but I don't think he is worth over 4 million and I think other teams will be prepared to pay that for him,.... including Celtic... just my opinion
  23. As I just said in another thread, I think he will go for over 4 million now and we will not spend that on him. Think he will be going elsewhere
