  1. I have no problem in thinking of myself as both Scottish and British. Ironic that many of the other lot appear to view themselves as neither. I'd not heard of Barcelona SC and was thinking - great, maybe we can beat them so I can start boasting about "beating Barcelona". However, looking at their Wiki entry, they sound quite good.
  2. Bates, Jack, McCrorie, Candeias and Morelos don't count as Warburton's team so that's half the outfield. Windass and Krancjar definitely do though... EDIT - I suppose Bates could do , although I don't remember him actually playing him
  3. Came on as a sub in both games Then started in the game against Ross County on the right of a diamond and wasn't great until the formation was changed in the second half. He's much better in a 4-2-3-1
  4. If we don't sign a left mid in Jan, I'd prefer to see DJ pushed forward and Wallace at LB. Lots of good performances today, but Windass was invisible
  5. Wonder how many of of his poor performances were when we played with a diamond - really doesn't work for a player like Candeias
  6. Ha ha - the old "I've got no filter" excuse of the perennial dickhead Presumably you'd be happy to say that to Murty's face?
  7. Bit like McCoist then at that age? He's 21 and has scored 11 goals in 23 appearances playing for a team with a midfield that doesn't make that many chances for him. I'd cut him some slack We do need another striker, though EDIT - being second is as good as being first - Buzz Aldrin
  8. FFS Get a grip. Yes he fucked up the interview, but there's no need for that
  9. Yes he was terrible, but if Murty had played Pena and he had given the ball away leading to an early goal, there'd be a thread on here saying he should have played Niko If he'd gone with Barjonas (who hasn't done anything so far, as far as I'm concerned) there'd be someone giving Murty pelters for playing two teenagers in a midfield in an away Old Firm game. Still should have subbed him earlier, though...
  10. Both the fullbacks showed today that when they are really up for a big game, they are decent defenders. Against the smaller teams, especially at Ibrox they make a bit less of an effort to get back when they are up the park and we lose goals because of it. They need to understand that if they want to play for Rangers, be regarded as top class players and maybe even get a big money move to the EPL, this is the standard required every week.
  11. Played well today, and has turned in quite a few good performances this season. I think his lack of pace makes any lapses in concentration look worse as he can't recover. Most CBs get themselves out of position at times, but the quick ones can get back and control the situation. Having players like John, Bates and McCrorie around him who have pace compensates however. Would definitely offer a new contract, though
  12. Would the other lot take that for Tierney? Who looked the better player today? I know Tierney is 20 and Tav is 26 but Tierney plays in a team that is usually on the attack and rarely gets tested defensively. They are so much better at talking up the value of their players and benefiting from it, it's unreal.
  13. Can't really argue with that tbf. However it's not going to happen unless Murty has a run of consistently bad results so we might as well get behind him
  14. It's not nonsense, it just depends on what you regard as a tall CB. Wilson is not a dominant CB in the air, never has been. Doesn't mean he's a bad player - there's plenty of CBs who have been very successful who are smaller than him. I think he played very well today and has been having a good season, but I do think he does need to be paired with a CB who can dominate in aerial challenges as it's not his forte. Like Bates (and Alves as it happens)
  15. That's not that big for a CB, though. Bates is 6ft 4
  16. Candeias has had a few poor performances recently, but some of those have been when we've played the diamond - it doesn't suit him at all as he stays wide and leaves a huge space in the middle. Far better suited to a 4-2-3-1
  17. Wrong, but you've probably forgotten that Windass was even on the park
  18. You obviously didn't watch the Kilmarnock game, then. Bottom line is that CB is the hardest position to learn and it is not surprising that Bates has made some mistakes. What he does have is height, pace and guts - none of those things can be coached. Positioning can be, so developing him alongside Wilson (who doesn't have height or pace but seems to be able to keep fit, at least) is far more sensible than letting Alves use us as a training camp for the World Cup
  19. McCrorie is a big physical CDM and is only going to get better so, along with Jack I don't think DM is a priority. Totally agree about the other positions, although Dorrans would be able to play in the forward CM position when fit. I would say another striker is the number one priority, particularly if Wallace is nearing fitness as we can move Jack up into midfield. A RB to cover Tav is also needed as I really don't want to see Hodson in a Rangers jersey again.
  20. Bit unfair to assume that the current manager wasn't a major component of today's performance
  21. Err - but he's right. You can't back off like that and let the attacker get into the area. It's a recipe for losing goals. You have to make the tackle and if the attacker gets past then you hope you've delayed him enough that a team mate can cover, or you give away a free-kick but not a penalty. That said, I do think Alves aerial ability is real plus for us. If the fullbacks could defend, his lack of pace would be less of an issue.
  22. We clearly did start with the diamond yesterday, that's why they were saying it. However, Candeias doesn't really suit it and Pena was completely anonymous so Murty switched to a 4-2-3-1 when he took Pena off and brought on Morelos. Hard to argue with, tbh as we were rubbish in the first half but scored two goals and won the game in the second
  23. Most people's problem with Windass has been about attitude rather than ability. Decent management can alter this more easily than adding pace or skill. If he keeps it up I'll be delighted to change my opinion about him
  24. He's been backed by the board and brought in a load of new players. Most of them have a connection to him nationally or to where he's managed before. If I thought there was even a small chance that he'll come good, common sense dictates that he has to be given some time to get them to gel. Sadly I think there is zero chance - total imposter. What a mess
