  1. Just a quick question but why is the Celtic away top been advertised in the Bears Den?
  2. I was just looking up to see if I could find any info on these schemes and I stumbled on the following article that I thought might be of some interest. Three senior investment bankers are among 16 City workers arrested by tax authorities investigating allegations of fraud involving film financing schemes. They have been named as Vincent Walsh, a former director of RBS’s UK equities business, Jason Edinburgh, a senior equities trader at RBS, and Michael Elsom, 45, a trader at broking firm Marex Spectron. HM Revenue & Customs carried out a series of raids on Wednesday following an investigation into allegations of tax fraud linked to film financing. Film schemes have been the subject of a number of legal challenges but this is one of the few times HMRC has pursued criminal charges in respect of such investments. It has become common practice for UK taxpayers to invest in a film production and then write down the value to claim tax relief on the loss. But following a change in rules, tax relief on such schemes is now limited to a maximum claim of £25,000 a year unless the investor is “actively involved”, which means the investor spends 10 hours a week working on the film. The inquiry relates to the personal financial affairs of those involved and is not connected to the institutions they work for. The three men remain on the staff of their employers, but are understood to be on leave. None of the men have been charged with any crime. 3. I cancelled my SkySports down at the beginning of the month along with ESPN. I also asked the guyto add a note to my account specifying that I had cancelled thesubscription down due the SFA's excessive sanctions against rangers andthat I would no longer associate myself with any of the SFA sponsors until suchsanctions were removed. Luckily Sky Sports hasn't been deactivatedyet, so I haven't missed any games and also saw the end of the premier league lastweekend. I'm going to miss the F1 and the kids are going to kill me since theywill miss the Wrestling but needs must. Hopefully it will all be sorted by the start of next season so I don't miss any Rangers games.
  4. It seems to me that we could do both. Carry out a boycott next season whilst signing/loaning under 18 top talent. The sooner the boycott starts the better!
  5. I think you could potentially be on the wrong forum. It was a clear and blatant divewith minimal contact made. If there wasn't so much bias by the SFA\SPL, Stokeswould be up in front of a panel this week facing a two match ban. But that’snever going to happen since they are up against us this weekend.
  6. I would definitely be in for £100 up front and £10/month (but don't tell the missus). In my opinion the most important thing for this to be a sucess would be for a high profile Rangers man to front this. It would have to be someone that the fans could really trust (like Walter).
  7. I'm over on my holidays in France in a couple of weeks, its not to far out of my way .
  8. I thought Broadfoot did well today and linked up well with Kerkar. Our left hand side was looking very dangerous today.
  9. I have been impressed by Kerkar in the games he's played previously but today I thought he was fantastic. Far more direct and a lot more composure than Wylde. He should be getting a regular start for the rest of the season (well at least if he is still here after next week). Overall I am very happy with today's performance although it could have been 5-0 if decisions had gone in our favour.
  10. As a player Ally will always be a true Ibrox legendbut as a manger I feel he is very weak. The two transfer windows that he hasbeen involved in have proved to be an absolute fiasco andan embarrassment to the club. I know Whyte has played a large part inthat but Ally must also shoulder some of the responsibility. Weiss who in myopinion was one of the most skill full, creative, exciting youngstersthat I have seen play at ibrox, should have been signed up on another loandeal. Indeed I think I remember Weiss commenting that he felt let down by Allydue to the fact that he hadn’t gone back in for him. We also desperately required a striker to be signedlast summer and that should have been our main priority. The large majority ofany funds that we did have available were utilised on Wallace. Now I feelWallace isn’t a bad player but by not spending the funds on anotherstriker in hindsight has potentially cost us the league following the injury toNaismith. The scenario with Matt Mackay was most baffling. Now clearly the boy has an abundance of talent but he was never given a chanceby Ally. Ally instead persisted in playing the likes of Mculloch and Papac inmidfield. I know there were suggestions that he was out in the cold due to the criticismhe madein the papers about our training regime but surly the good of the teamshould first if that was the case. Another gripe I have (and I know a lot of fellowmembers on here won’t agree with me) but I feel that we had the perfectopportunity to bring Boyd back. We still desperately required a strikereven prior to Jelly been punted to Everton, but surely we could have let Boydtrain with us after his contract had been terminated with the Turkish club inmid December. We could have improved/monitored his fitness over severalweeks with the opportunity of bringing him back. Instead we end up with what ispotentially the worst strike force in the SPL, Mculloch and Heally. The last negative point I would make although it’sprobably the most damning in terms of Ally's managerial ability is the qualityof football (or lack of it ) that we have been subjected to this season. It has been hard to watch at times and had been some of the worst football Ihave seen played over a prolonged period of time by any rangers team. Onepositive note though is the signing of Sone Aluko who has been undoubtedly ourbest player since he came in. Imagine the team that we may have had if one ortwo different decisions were taken: McGregor Whittiker Goian Bocanegra Wallace Weiss Davis Mackay/Edu Aluko Naismith Boyd
  11. Sky sports are saying the fee is believed to be around five and a half million. I am fucking raging, only Whyte could turn down bids of 9 and 7 million and accept a deal for considerably less. Whyte is turning our club into a fucking utter embarrassment. Two of the worst transfer windows you could ever imagine. The clubs being run by a bunch of fucking muppets whose transfer dealings can only be described as amateurish at best. We were crying out for another striker last summer and now we find that we are two strikers down. What a fucking strike force Lafferty and Heally. Holly shit it must be one of the worst strike forces in the SPL. We could have had Boyd on a free FFS + Templeton and Salihi wouldn't have cost us that much either. Whyte's put fuck all of his own money in. He's basically bought us (cleared of the debt with Lloyds) with the season ticket money for next 4 years. Cancelling down ESPN and Skysports the seasons over (and anyone who thinks otherwise must have their head buried up Craig Whytes arse. Well fucking done Craig Whyte you have done more for celtics title ambitions than you have for us and left Ally hung out to dry.
  12. If we had offered that contract 12 months sooner and not tried to punt him in the previous transfer windows then I would agree.
  13. Definite yes from me and that has always been the case. We should have made more of an effort to keep him in the first place!
  14. You can divide most of those values by 2 and that would be a more realistic valuation.
  15. Weiss is one of the most talented youngsters I have seen in a rangers shirt. He was our most creative and entertaining player last season. Unfortunately he is far to skilful for Scottish football and his talents would not be appreciated up here.
  16. There is no way we will go through! I'm sure I heard on the commentary tonight saying we have never overturned a 1-0 home defeat in our history. The chances are with the pace they have up front that they will get one or two on the break. I said previously that we needed a pacey striker and a decent centre back for this game. Mccoist and Whyte took there chances by putting in low bids for what I would consider to be their main targets and not getting the quality or quantity in when they needed to. Even when we had the opportunity for a possible swap deal for Whittiker and Miller (who I am not that keen on) we screw it up and offer what can only be described as a mediocre player at best 20K a week. So far in the 2 games this season Whittiker has already cost us two points in the league and a potential 10 mil + of champions league revenue.
  17. I hope your right about Wallace and he does turn out to be a good signing for us but I do have my reservations. I would say that Papac has done okay for us at LB but I to would like to see a more natural attacking LB. I was a big fan of Vignal and thought he did pretty well for us the short spell he was here, although I'm sure many on this forum would disagree.
  18. I hope your right and we do take care of them. I would have liked to see some key areas strengthened prior to this deadline just to be on the safe side. Imagine if say Bougherra or Naismith get injured at the weekend. We have no decent backup to cover at CB or upfront.
  19. I take it from that response that you think Lee Wallace is a decent signing. Just a couple of questions. Are you happy with the 1.5 mil fee we will pay for Wallace and think he will improve our squad? Do you think a LB is currently one of our main weaknesses or do you think that that other areas of the squad need strengthening first? If we sign or loan the likes of Cuellar, Bartley, Goodwillie or Weiss then I would be happy. I'm not so sure about.Ortiz and Wallace for me at best would be squad players.
  20. 1.5 mil for Lee Wallace? Bloody hell someone's having a laugh. I don't feel a LB (a mediocre one at best) should be one of our top priorities especially with the euro transfer deadline looming. Surely a CB and a ST with pace should be top of our wish list. I can see us really struggling against Malmo (potentially another Kaunas) with the team we have available. I not to impressed with the signings we have made so far.
  21. I totally disagree. Weiss is one of the most skill-full exciting players I have seen at ibrox for years. I don't care what anyone else thinks. He only played 17 games (most of them out of position) and was on of the top assist chart with 9 assists if I remember right. He's one to watch and I would love to see him back at rangers, however given a year or two I think he will be out of our reach.
  22. Cuellar and Goodwillie are essential signings for me. Id also put bids in for Bartley and Wiess. I know this would cost a bit more than the 5 mil thats been mentioned but we would recoup any transfer fees on 3 out of the 4 signings due to their age.
  23. Whilst admittedly Shagger and Jelly are top notch players, the same can’t be said for Whittaker (who is mediocre at best), if he can demand 20+ k per week then I feel that a lot of other squad members will also feel they can demand those sort of wages. I think this is a bad move by Whyte to sanction those sorts of wages for Whittaker, he should have just punted him to Turkey instead.
