  1. I think something has been lost in translation between Adoniram and others here, so perhaps this is worth clarifying... There were 3 links posted explaining why the H Word is sectarian, in relation to an article on Randalstown using the H Word, which was picked up by Newsnow, despite an email being circulated to various Old Firm sites a few months back stating that word, amongst others, was banned, and would be filtered out. It would seem that the filter had been switched off when yesterday's article was published, despite Randalstown being warned in the past about their behaviour. I'd like to think, had the links worked he might have had a more positive response, but I'm not convinced. In any case, complaints were made, and newsnow have acted, so perhaps we could say "all's well that ends well". It should be said though that Newsnow will only act on offensive or sectarian language if they are inundated with complaints, so a little help from posters on various Rangers sites could have an impact. http://nilbymouth.org/?page_id=28 http://www.psni.police.uk/appropriate_inappropriate_language.pdf http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/article1848719.ece
  2. It's topical, unless you haven't been paying attention to the news.
  3. Most tabloids use pen names for a number of freelancers, and, I know that, in contrast to the claim in the OP that McGillivan had penned one article, that he penned a few, under various "names", such as Mark Howarth and James Douglas aswell as his own name. One week, for reasons only known to the newspaper, they gave one of his agenda led pieces his proper byeline. The result was anger on varioous Rangers sites, including ours. We wrote a strong article, which was shown on here. This had an impact, but it's our other work behind the scenes which made the most telling impact. It did include emails to Bob Bird and various others, but also included, amongst other things, some agitation of Rangers supporters online to trigger a similar reaction and encourage others to make waves, which they duly did. We believe it was a culmination of various pieces of action that ultimately put McGillivan's ego in check, and do not claim sole credit. Rangers fans came together and did it, and we should act together more often, if this is what can happen. What we were told by a media insider, is that journalists from the NOTW monitoring our site saw our article and the resultant anger on Rangers forums (including this one), then felt some heat from the club itself. Was it a coincidence? They apparently decided it wasn't, and took action by voicing their concerns to Bird. They might have done it out of self preservation, but the result is the desired one. That's what matters.
  4. Protests DO work. That banner will have jolted Murray on Saturday, make no mistake. With regards to the target for protest though, I'm more of a mind that any protest should be directed more at Lloyds bank about the running of the club. As for protests against those who live to attack our club, then most definitely.
  5. There actually was a riot at the Lowenbrau Keller, so I've no problem with that part of the reporting by Kennedy...it's the shit he put about our supporters and players being involved and more or less insinuated that we were at fault for it that makes my fucking blood boil.....I'll see if the prick answers my letter to him asking for proof that what he wrote was 100% fact. All people need to do is ask the Police to verify or deny his allegation. I'd suggest any Sydney based bears to it straight away.
  6. Good spot Covenanter. The sad thing is that his "report", has been approved for printing by at least 2 editors before being published. I think that is more telling than the fact a Shellik minded "journo" will pen such garbage.
  7. The Rhebel states this with some confidence. Whether they're right, or applying some guess work I guess we won't know for a while, but here's the quote: But Rangers will NOT trade Andy Webster back to Dundee United as a makeweight in their attempts to sign Scottish Cup Final hero David Goodwillie.
  8. I didn't go as I didn't get told the secret
  9. I loved that shirt too. There's a fine line with retro that you have to be careful with. If it's too recent, people may think it's not retro, and that you're just a jakey with an old top. You'd need to pair it with some serious designer clobber to get away with it. Fashion lesson over
  10. I'm not a big fan of digital images that look too digital, if that makes any sense, but some of these are fantastic. Good work.
  11. If you are genuine, then email VB postmaster@vanguardbears.co.uk
  12. I agree Manti. Was there need for jibes at fellow Rangers fans (no matter what site they use online)? There are obviously posters from VB on here that dislike FF, thats their opinion, but we don't need reminding of it constantly on every thread to do with the founders. I also agree. There is a time and place for debate, but threads about the founders should not be getting hi jacked and agitators should take a deep breath before posting.
  13. I don't think people see Walter as the issue here.
  14. Some people are at the noise up. Don't bite
  15. According to the guy on 5 live today, HRMC are basically accusing clubs of a tax dodge. It's not the image rights payments that are the problem, it's the avoidance of tax on the these payments. The issue of legality is yet to be established, that's what we'll find out on Thursday. This case will establish a legal precedent, and therefore it's extremely important, not just for us, or Portsmouth, but for the sport as a whole. It's only relevant to Rangers if our payments were structured in the same fashion, and if both clubs can legally be proven to have been "evading" tax. Every case is different. Portsmouth could get hammered, and we don't, or vice versa. It's certainly worth keeping an eye on, but I'd make no assumptions.
  16. I dread to think what these programmes will consist of.
  17. Don't forget posters from this board who contributed towards the headstone. Yes, VB initiated this, but we are very grateful to several posters on here (you know who you are) who supported us.
  18. Written by Paul Drury. I didn't need to read any further. After all, this is the same newspaper, that can't spell "flare" http://www.<No links to this website>/football/spl/celtic/2010/07/27/two-fans-in-court-after-fights-and-flair-incident-at-celtic-friendly-with-lincoln-city-86908-22443260/
  19. My question is, who on the Rangers board has the bottle to sacrifice their seat on the Rangers board by becoming Whistleblower and giving a detailed picture of what exactly is going on? The bland soundbytes of Bain are not offering any comfort, and being asked to trust the current board is becoming ever more difficult with each player being sold, and no replacement signed. I detest this rumour mill
  20. I think this is a sensationalist topic, and also believe that Administration is not an immediate threat, but some fans do need to take their heads out of the sand. Everything is NOT rosy, and rumours are being leaked out of Ibrox paint a very very bleak picture. These are not Celtic fans that are spreading malicious rumours, but well connected bears.
  21. Like Kris Boyd? And we can have no Gattusos, Novos, Amorusos or Albertz' ever again? What a ridiculous statement.
  22. It is indeed. How significant that is I don't know, but it's more complicated than a straightforward £1M ayear.
  23. I'm too power hungry to just be a Mod, so I'll pass
  24. I agree. Should anyone from the Founders Committee wish to get in touch, they can email us at postmaster@vanguardbears.co.uk Hell, I'll even buy a round if we can get in a pub together. over and out.
