  1. Whether he was brilliant is up for debate, that he was one of the greatest Scottish philsophers is not. Great historian though.
  2. Neither. Sorry to the Clubfoot fan club but he's not good enough, often enough, to play at RB. Remember the latter part of last-season? At CB, he's a decent back-up. What we paid for Whittaker was ludicrous, versatile or not. RB and one of the CB positions are two areas of the team where we obviously need to strengthen (arguably the most) and that should not be forgotten.
  3. There was speculation about a loan move to us in the summer but I think Southgate said no.
  4. Supporting Scotland used to be a fairly pleasureable experience, I used to feel that all Scottish football fans were, to borrow a cliche, 'in it together'. I'm only 24 so I can only recall from personal experience that this was certainly the case at Euro '96 and France '98. Goram, McCall, Durie, McCoist, McLaren etc weren't as hated as our players today are (ok, Goram and McCall at first, perhaps, but not because they were Rangers but because they were English). I don't know where the change took place, maybe 1998/1999 (admittedly it wasn't sudden but the first Rangers player I remember being abused because he played for Rangers was Barry Ferguson) or so? Maybe I'm wrong and it's been going on with as much ferocity as now for far longer than that? It's a shame - I no longer support Scotland anymore because I am not welcome, not because I don't want to. However, that feeling of being unwelcome, as it has clearly done with some Rangers fans already, will eventually lead to a dislike, possibly hatred, of Scotland as a football team.
  5. Wigtown show 1993 - Ally McCoist was the guest of honour and I was 9 years old. I was in attendance with my grandparents and my 8-year old female cousin. Super Ally was taking autographs across the field in a marquee but to get there my cousin and I had to climb a tricky barbed wire fence. She hopped over it successfully and got his sig and a chat (he still had crutches at the time from the Scotland v Portugal game) but I fell flat on my face, ripped my leg open on the barbed wire and burst into tears, refusing to go any futher. My Grandfather, a life-long Bear and definitely what one might call 'Old-School' was disgusted with me and said I would always regret it. He was right and he's no longer with us. My cousin, meanwhile, is now a Celtic supporter and her brother a professional footballer. Oh the irony.
  6. It's been a good transfer period for us overall, to be fair. The extra quality in midfield is most welcome. Another central defender would have been nice and we need some more width but Beasley (if he gets a chance) and Naismith can provide that. I want to see Lafferty up front, not wide left.
  7. My feelings precisely. The bubble will burst and when it does, we'll avoid the worst. In fact the whole Champions League bubble will burst at some point too.
  8. I'm fed up of this transfer 'window' pish - let's go back to the way it was pre-2001.
  9. He was a decent footballer and part of a very respectable Motherwell team back in the day. All due respect to him and sympathies for his family and friends.
  10. If he keeps doing this and proves me wrong I'll be delighted but I stand by what I said earlier, despite today's display.
  11. 4 fucking 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! You fucking dancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  12. Cracking goal but I still don't rate him as a player. I don't care that he played for Celtic but I do think he is a poor footballer, so no.
  13. van Vossen made a cracking start to the 96/97 season, IIRC. That miss just wrecked his Rangers career though. 31 caps and nine goals for Holland, playing at Euro 2000 (3 years after he left us). He was not as bad as some make out. EDIT:
