  1. I agree with Danny's last few words - I'm finding it hard not to be negative too. Last season was good but the bitter disappointment of losing the SPL title has left us all feeling down. What we needed was two or three blue-chip signings to pick us up. Instead we get Miller and can't even afford Shittu's wages. It's sad.
  2. The league, every time. I like to see us in the CL group stages for the cash and the prestige but beyond that anything else is just gravy. As much fun as the UEFA cup was last season, I lost enjoyment after the double Old Firm defeat because the writing was on the wall domestically.
  3. One goal-scoring feat never achieved by Super Ally. I think the nearest he got was 4 against Falkirk in 1992?
  4. The striking thing is that every single strip we have ever had is better than that awful thing our players were forced to wear this season.
  5. Funny that, given that it was 1992 when it was introduced.
  6. He succeeded in nothing else than persuading us that the average IQ, educational standing and social status of a Bear is likely to be higher than the average Celtic-supporter. But we knew that already............ Mission failed Timmy.
  7. I think Sonko's a solid defender and definitely a good catch for us in this climate but not as a replacement for Cuellar - great partnership though.
  8. I like Papac - he genuinely works hard and makes good decisions on field but I worry about him as a central defender because in every aerial challenge I have seen him make, he loses. For sure, though, he's a better full-back than Broadfoot.
  9. He should be served a summary cause summons court action for personal injury - absolute disgrace.
  10. The home game against CSKA was just so frustrating, especially after we had gone to Marseilles and got that draw with Durrant's superb goal. I remember being so disappointed at the time (I was 8/9 in '92/93) but as the years passed and we floundered in Europe with sometimes humiliating results, I looked back with fond memories and pride on that campaign. The great thing was that after we knocked Leeds out, ITV's coverage was centered on us with the whole of Britain watching (but not necessarily supporting). Brian Moore was a great commentator.
  11. Outstanding but a word for Davie as well - he was as solid as a rock.
  12. I did ten laps of the sofa when Nacho scored then tripped and cracked my head on the edge of the fireplace What a night, what an occasion
  13. His being back in the team could actually work in our favour, he's got a great chance to show what he can do at the highest level and he'll be keen to make an impression, if not to Walter, then to potential suitors.
  14. Regardless of what happened tonight, he's a cracking player and I'd be delighted if he was a Ger.
  15. Snap. I'm 24 too and always pretended to be McCoist, even when he was at the end of his Rangers career. When I very occassionally played in goals, it was Goram, of course!
  16. I managed to catch some of the game and from what I saw, you're right. However, they had skill and pace. I also thought that they were quick on the break and able to create space (however, this was in no little part down to Bolton leaving them space in pursuit of a goal). They won't be easy, but the encouraging thing is that we've seen off far better teams in Europe this season.
  17. Yep, being reported on BBC site too.
  18. That's correct, he was in his early-teens when he left.
  19. I spent five years in Aberdeen at Uni. I got on fine with Aberdeen fans but I did find their attitude towards us was unacceptable. They were the 'bigger club' because they had won more 'European' trophies than us (yes, apparently the 'Super Cup' counts ). They delighted in any Celtic victory due that being contrary to our interests. I swear they got more pleasure from a Rangers defeat than an Aberdeen victory - seriously. Having lived amongst them , when it comes to football, there are no more ignorant fans in the world than them and that includes the Tims.
  20. He appears to be a good talent and, knowing the SPL, he'll be fantastic for ICT. Having said that, if we had unexpectedly signed him I would have said 'WTF?111!!!' Daniel Niculae, then yes, I would have been delighted. But, I have to be honest and say that I have never heard of Marius Niculae.
  21. I really don't know enough about him to judge either way at this point but I do feel that a great deal of the unenthusiastic response to the rumours that we were after him was down to him not being an overly illustrious name. I mean, 'Lee McCulloch'? Doesn't exactly compare to 'Jan Venegoor of Hesselink', or 'Massimo Donati' does it? . Nevertheless, I recokon we'll get just as much, probably more, out of him than the Tims will out of those fellas. This is the SPL, after all, McCulloch is a Scot and has played succesfully in this league before. He knows what it (and us) is all about. Sadly, £2m is a reasonably large sum for us to spend on one player these days so there is, I feel, some pressure for him to perform but for the time being, welcome home Big Man and the best of luck!
