  1. Yeah, he was only 18 when he arrived at Stair Park and he won young player of the year and was steady but that was in the Scottish Second Division. Also, most Stranraer fans probably still rated Frazer Wright as the better left-back.
  2. I dunno, depends where you spend your time. If you insist hanging about in JSD or Mount Vernon then you get what you deserve
  3. I wish him luck and hope he can get through this.
  4. All the best action is happening off track right now. Spanky's playing his usual tactic and there will be a budget cap (bet it's £100m) but no two-tier formula. Monaco will be very close - RBR will beat Brawn IMO and Renault and Williams will do well. Ferrari and Toyota next.
  5. If you are being serious, and I believe you are, then I would suggest you make a serious effort to define what 'sectarianism' really is, because it is so often misunderstood and incorrectly represented. I studied a subject of great similiarity to yours at Uni and I remember the dissertation well. It's crucial that you can demonstrate an understanding of the topic that you intend to present research on, but I am sure you do. Also, we are not 'Glasgow' Rangers, just Rangers
  6. Was hoping for a Williams on the podium today and Rosberg was looking good for one until the rain really got going. Two races in a row that Williams have failed to capitalise on a quick car - they are on a par with Red Bull and Toyota for pace (Rosberg made a mistake in S3 during Quali yesterday which cost him around three tenths). Sadly, we only have one driver capable of doing the car justice, Naka-san is just not good enough. Bernie needs to give up and start collecting his pension. A Malaysian guy on an F1 forum I use warned that an evening race in April over there was asking for trouble, the early-evening storms in Kuala Lumpur are notorious. The race was a complete anti-climax and what was shaping up as a great fight for second, third and fourth between Rosberg, Trulli and Barrichello was spoiled as well as some interesting battles further back. I'm a bit pissed off. More poor pit-wall decisions from Williams and a really disappointing end to an otherwise interesting race weekend.
  7. I think he's a good player and would certainly be an improvement at RB for us. I've been a fan since I saw him play for Scotland against Nigeria at Pittodrie back in 2002 while I was a Student in Aberdeen, although I think he played on the right of midfield that night because Robbie Stockdale ( ) was at RB. I believe that he would prove any doubters here wrong if he were to pull on a Rangers jersey.
  8. Yes, several. British GP in '92, '97, '00 and '03. French GP in 2000. EDIT: Just read this on the BBC website: Traditionally less succesful? What about thos 7 drivers chamipnships and 9 constructors championships, the latter still second only to Ferrari?
  9. Don't follow Scotland so Rangers first, as usual.
  10. Haven't missed a live race since 1997 I'm a Williams fan and was delighted to see them topping the time-sheets in both Friday Practice sessions.
  11. I lost hope when he came back - he wasn't good even in Helicopter Sunday season. He added a mental boost then but nothing on the park. Now he adds nothing at all.
  12. The "21st century" is becoming less and less a place I want to be, and I only lived for the last quarter of the 20th
  13. That's exatly it. Surely even the most eternal optimist must now feel he's not going to re-capture form of worth to this team, never mind his 2002-2003 form? I don't like saying that, because he was, without a doubt, a top-class player (in SPL terms at least). The one thing I remember about his game was his ability to 'swivel' on the ball, free himself from an opponent and make space for a pass - he did it time and time again and it was the one thing that made him stand out. He can't (or won't, but I suspect the former) do it anymore. He's no leader either.
  14. We know our SPL away record this season, we know it's poor and we know if we repeat it, we'll be in trouble.
  15. Is that you Derek? It may well be, given the absolute pig's ear that fool made of Stranraer. I love Rangers, without a doubt "my team" but I'm from Stranraer and have a fondness for them. If Stranraer FC have to close for good, that man is at least partly culpable.
  16. It doesnt have to be won though. We could win every game from now until then and Celtic could lose a few. Who knows? Thats why we enjoy football, its unpredictable. Lets just see what happens, that point today could turn out to be massive at the end of the season. Just like it could be the day where we look back and think what if. Lets look forward, we cant change the past. That's true, and I certainly don't think they will avoid dropping points, but neither will we, so the Ibrox fixture will be indisputably pivotal. You're right, though. Today was a "good" point, it certainly will be much more painful for them, whatever they say.
  17. As much as I have disagreed with some of WS's decisions this season. he's no "prick". Anyway, we'd all hoped for more, but we simply could not lose today and we didn't. However, the last OF game at Ibrox has to be won, we know that and I'm sure WS knows it too.
  18. He was a good player but didn't really make a great impact for us except that goal he scored against Celtic in April (?) 1998 - Jonas Thern.
  19. I never considered Alan McLaren as a weak link, quite the contrary. He was never the most, umm, "athletic" of players but read the game very well and seemed to have a strong mentality. I think he would have been our captain after Gough had he not been force to retire. As well as the 0-0 with Italy and his well-known marking job on Baggio, he was also unbreakable against Russia during the Euro '96 qualifiers against Russia away (which was also 0-0, I think).
  20. A work colleague of mine is a Newcastle fan and maintains that he wouldn't bat an eyelid if Given left because Harper is such an able, and vastly under-rated, replacement. I agree, but maybe Kinnear would not.
  21. I was never a great fan, he seemed to pair well with Pressley but I feel that says alot My opinion of him is that he reads the game reasonably well and probably would be a good leader but he's awful in the air and just a bit lightweight for a CB. That's to say nothing of his fitness.
  22. Wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised.
  23. The club (not the institution, of course) is now a rotten structure and appears to be on the brink of caving in . We (well, those with the power to do so) just didn't do enough during the good times in terms of youth development, scouting networks, commercial exploitation and re-structuring of the club to make it a lean but highly effective footballing machine. That was a bad mistake that the powers-that-be at Rangers should regret. However, it probably wasn't too late to do something about that until recently, it would just need to be done during a poor spell on the pitch. Unforgivably, though, we pissed serious money against the wall bringing in mostly mediocre players whilst keeping our fingers crossed that that should prove sufficient to take us back to the top. We spent money we just simply didn't have, that's what annoys me. It needn't have been this way. I'm no Murray-hater, but our current problems are due in a very large part to a failure of leadership. Other than a fantastic support and great history, Rangers Football Club has very little going for it, particularly from the view of any potential buyer which is what we need to give the club a fresh start.
