  1. If people say that they didn't see enough of him to be certain he was good enough, then I fail to see how they know that he wasn't good enough. Any time I saw McMillan in the first team or more often in the reserves he looked far better going forward than Broadfoot and a better defender than Whittaker. Far better positioning than him, though that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. If we are using yesterday as an example then he managed to save an likely goal with a last minute challenge and the most Bartley did was forget he was supposed to be playing at RB for their goal and generally going around looking for a booking One thing is certain; he could have performed no worse than Bartley at RB over the period of games where he has played there. Amazing that a La Liga wing back and someone with talent in the position like Jordan aren't here and we are playing a youngster for another team who I think has the least technical ability I have ever seen first hand of an Arsenal youngster. If he has to play, then the only saving grace if he plays RB is that it keeps him out of midfield where he is even worse, slows down our play and could never in any shape or form be considered a midfielder.
  2. If we win the league this year it will genuinely go down as one of the greatest achievements of our football club, of which there are many. It would also serve as one of the greatest 'get it right round you(s)' in history.
  3. I think Lee Wallace will be a solid LB for us in years to come, however, he's most definetly not a left winger and that side of our team always looks absolutly horrible when we have a poor result. I'd also say that I think his delivery from open play is actually quite poor and something he needs to work on. Far too often it hits the first man and some of his crosses are really, really woeful. As I say, think he will be a solid left back, but I still maintain as I said back then that with our need for a striker, it was folly to go out and spend (what turned out to be) a huge chunk of our budget on a LB when we had Sasa for another year. Only a year left on his contract as well; I don't think that he is that good so much so that we couldn't have risked losing him, if we had gone back 6 months later for instance.
  4. The price of oranges has dropped here mate, mangos are now he way ahead
  5. We need a Brian Laudrup; someone who can basically win the game alone, no matter how much mince is served up by anyone else. Wonder if we could sort out a trial when he's over in March?
  6. I've rarely seen an Arsenal youth product with as little skill with the ball as he has. He looks horrific moving the ball forward. Madness should he be playing RB with nothing in his contract meaning he has to play. In saying that, an awful decision to take him on that type of deal if it were to be anything like that. He simply isn't that good to have such an arrangement.
  7. As others have stated, other facts were involved, however, the main difference was Naismith.
  8. Midfield, particularly our more talanted midfielders pushing on will win us the title. That said, Healy's got my full support when he crosses that line, as anybody in a Rangers shirt would have. Especially one who always gives 100%
  9. I know the it's driven by the situation we are in, and I'm not having a go at you mate, I just wish that every time we have a good player / young player with us or linked with us we weren't salivating about the profit we'd get from him in a few years and just enjoyed the football they play and trophies they win with us.
  10. So glad we have a manager like Ally in situations like this. We have a manager with utter class; they have a manager who I would doubt could even spell the word, let alone ever attain a degree of it.
  11. True it was in the league, however, that really can't be ignored as to how much of an advantage the team had as a whole; basically being given a Green Card in the league would allow any team to fully concentrate on the EC Semis and Final. You only have to look as us recently for a prime example of that, though the other way around and in slightly different circumstances. We'll have to agree to disagree there mate. They had a major unfair advantage domestically and it's impossible in my eyes to tell just how much that carried over to the EC. In my mind it had a major effect. AC had a brilliant team that year as well and it wasn't as if Milan were humped 4-0 or such like and you can then say they were the far better team. It was very close, close enough to make a small advantage count I would suggest. You could argue till the cows come home. Main fact is, they cheated and I really, really can't stand them because of it. They should have been stripped of the EC and in my eyes it's an empty title. Rightful winners in any sport don’t have to cheat to attain success in any field. We were also robbed of a place in a European Cup final and a season which would have certainly outdone them in their EC run. Hasn’t it subsequently come out that in our game against Marseille, where there have been suspicions that they were at it again with referees. With the way the game went and with the other cheating they were doing at that time, likely and probable in equal measure, bringing not just the league, but the EC into the equation.
  12. I've been a fan on Milan for almost as many years as I have been a fan of us, mate. Good to know there are a couple of others kicking about! I've supported them since before the Sacchi era, however, that period remains very special to me with the new period it ushered in for us, and a piece of useless information is that I'm a particular fan of Donadoni. Really exited for this match, it should be a cracker. EC Final the way it always should have been if not for those cheating French frogs.
  13. There are varying degrees of forcing the hand of a club to let you go. I don't think that he did another `Rapid Vienna´ by demanding a move and not being willing to play, however, I don't doubt for a minute he was desperate to move to the EPL and his mind was fully focused on Glasgow Rangers. The type of player who would do what he did at Vienna isn’t suddenly going to have a cathartic moment, if we weren’t as willing to selling as we were given our financial state, I don't doubt for a second Jelavic would have done something similar to us. I'd suggest the truth sits somewhere in between.
  14. I pray that isn't the case. Couldn't believe when Ally said that Lafferty going off (the day he was injured) made us play the ball on the deck. Although he has other good attributes, for someone of his height he really is pretty poor in the air and wins a piss poor amount of headers / is out muscled for follow up balls. He is never a lone striker in a million years if we are going to punt the ball up the park to him.
  15. It is gutting to now look back and see him resigned, beaten and basically having given up on the season and any hope of catching us. Just looked like the gap was too big and even they were about to concede it. Ah well, we tend to be better doing the chasing and putting pressure on them. If we can keep it tight and keep applying pressure lets see how they handle it.
  16. When you post click on 'show all' below the . There you'll have the tank option, and loads of strange and wonderful ones that I have often looked for an excuse to post, like this and never found the moment. Thank you kind Sir
  17. However you dress that up it does make grim reading. Mervan's goal tally was sensational though last season I think, it's not out with the bounds of possibility that he comes in and makes a real impact, hopefully on the goal front as well. He certainly doesn't appear to lack belief in his own ability, which is good, as we could so do with him coming in and hitting the ground running. I also think this is the time for Davis to finally have his decent goals haul for a season. He's more than capable and should score more for the talent he has. He's also a decent finisher. Late to start into the season now, however, there are still plenty of games left and now for whatever reason the onus is going to be placed on the midfield to step up and score.
  18. There is actually some real talent in that midfield. The ironic thing for me, considering our dirth of strikers, is that there is probably more attacking flair in that midfield than we have seen at Ibrox for many a year. On a night like this there is absolutely no point in saying what I think about our current options up front. Suffice to say we are very weak up there and the choice at RB is rather uninspiring. Still feel playing passing football, through the midfield with the ball on the deck, there is a lot of good football in this Rangers side. As I said in another post, time for our midfield to carry us through. In particular, time for the Captain to show us all what we know he is capable of.
  19. There are various ad-ons, varying reports as to exactly how much these are mate. I think it seems to be that a possible 7-8 Mil is the general feeling.
  20. It was on STV news mate, at least that's where I saw him leave Ibrox.
  21. Yeah mate, it's his 'dream move' apparently. Take out of that what you will.
  22. Good player, very good technically, but he's no Laudrup or Gazza ffs. We've lost far better players and we shall have better players at Ibrox again in the future. We move on, he's no bigger than Glasgow Rangers FC.
  23. Thanks for helping Rangers to the title and sending Walter off in style. Could have left a legend like your countryman, however, was never going to happen with your desire to jump ship to England.
