  1. Thank you for that Minstral - Old-age and good memory don't really go together. Was I right about the snow?
  2. I think JB broke his leg in the return game with Rapid Vienna (did we draw 1-1 at Ibrox then beat them 3-1 away?) Could be old age, but I seem to remember they had to clear tons of snoww off the pich to get the game on. Slim ran amok whilst others couldn't keep their feet. One guy took exception to being pissed upon and took him out.
  3. Apologies Ed, I thought you were digging ME up. Take your point - There have been more non-Prods signed by us than has been recognised by the press etc. Guess it doesn't fit in with their general Anti RFC shit.
  4. Oh sorry Ed, I thought we were discussing our Glasgow Rangers FC memories. I was only about 10 years old so I was only interested in Rangers, not religion. Call me naive but I didn't know he was an rc. I'll try not to mention any of "them" in my future posts.
  5. My Dad took me to my first Rangers game (and many more after that). I remember Don Kitchenbrand (the White Rhino). In the 60s it was all about the great Jim Baxter and Millar/Brand etc. Great memories from Nuremburg. My mate and I travelled by bus from Bridgeton Cross with "the mob from the Mermaid Bar". There was a local bookie called Alex Patterson who got us the tickets. There was a guy on the bus called Billy Faulds whose brother (Bobby) played for St Mirren. Billy plyed the spoons pretty well non-stop for a bloody week !! Fabulous week apart from the score.
  6. It's not for me to suggest anything untoward, but I have just been looking at today's papers and I couldn't help but notice one thing. The number of fouls committed by each team versus the number of yellow and red cards issued makes interesting reading (well I think it does). Team Fouls Yellows Reds Hearts 14 3 0 I/Ness 16 4 1 Killie 7 2 0 M/Well 14 2 0 Ross 12 1 0 'tic 14 0 0 St John 16 2 0 Sheep 11 3 0 St M 9 3 0 Hibs 11 2 0 Dung Utd 8 2 1 Dung 7 2 1 Only one team escaped a card. Surprising considering they committed 14 fouls while the other 2 teams with 14 fouls picked up a total of 5 yellows. Thoughts?
  7. Should we not consider playing Little at RB? We could also have Jig at CB along with Boca. I thought all 3 at the back looked uncomfortable with the system but at least we know that Boca is a player, he just had a poor game yesterday. The midfield and front guys looked scared to lose the ball. We need to be solid at the back and let the footballers "do their thing" without worrying what is happening behind them. We do definitely need width though.
  8. Just for info, Ally's brother was (and probably still is) a Minister in Aberdeen. I never liked the man (joking)'cos he was responsible for my wedding ceremony !
  9. Is it not time we started to call the man Mr McCoist? I think he deserves a wee handle as a token of our respect. Too early for "Sir" but "Mr" would do for now.
  10. Just my luck - A f****** English Teacher !!
  11. Gents, Don't know about anyone else but I am sick to the tits with all this in-fighting and schoolboy name-calling. As Rangers men we should be showing our togetherness not using all our energy thowing shit at each other. BD, you have been on this board a lot longer than I have and you have started many topics - How does that make you a better supporter than me? I don't get that. It should be obvious that JB is not the answer to our hopes and prayers - Give hime a ball and someone to tackle, yes. Give him a mike and ask him to make sense, no. CG is all we have at present. We don't need to send him Christmas cards but we DO have to believe in him and give him a chance. £5.5 mill more than anyone else (including "Rangers Men")up front merits him that chance. Thanks, I feel better now.
  12. I've supported Rangers for a long time now (51 years). I can't remember a time when the club needed my support more. I won't walk away. Like some of the players, there will be fans who say all the right things about being a supporter. Let them move on and, to those who know them, let their actions not be forgotten.
  13. I wonder if St Midden have any "Bosmans" on their books. How did Bosman win his case against illegality? Through the courts. There are times when sport and the law cannot be separated - Drugs for instance. Red cards are NOT one of the inseparables !!
  14. I will accept that I may be thick or at least I'm being simplistic, but if all these "wheelers and dealers" are only interested in the wellbeing of our club, why can't they just join forces and pool their resources? Do they just want the glory of being "The Boss" or do they really care about RFC? Surely a joint effort by BM, BK and the rest of the BKs would be more than capable of clearing the debts thru' a CVA and also leave some "spare" for a couple of players (if we are allowed to buy). Feel free to shoot me down - I'm just a simple-minded supporter.
  15. I think Bill Ng should be favourite because his name is worth a lot at scrabble !
  16. RFWG I thank you for the time and effort you have put in to update us all on the meeting. However I can't help thinking that if proper minutes had been taken there would have been no need to depend on fans making up their own minds on who said what or did what. It's a pain in the arse but it takes away the doubt. Indeed I am surprised that an official of the SFA didn't insist on minutes being taken. If things had gone against him in an unfair way he would only have needed to show the minutes to the press to prove a point. I am certainly not being critical of you or the other people on RFWG just making a point that in future it may be better to approach it like a structured business meeting.
  17. Will we have a 10 point deduction at the start of next season or is it a one-off for this year?
  18. Sunday then - You knew what I meant (I think)
  19. There is an old Chinese saying :- "Youcanonlypisswiththecockyouhave" Ally has been told he can't get anyone in. This may be due to the tax case or maybe some other debt we are not aware of (yet) As normal punters we won't know the truth till it all comes out in the wash. So in the meantime we run with what we have. We are all talking about Ally doing his bit, CW doing his bit, McKay doing his bit etc What about us, as supporters of the club doing OUR bit? Lets have less of the negative vibes and try to help our depleted squad through this trying time. Lets give them a positive atmosphere to play in and let us be SUPPORTERS, not bad-news-fairies. We can start on Saturday against Dun Utd. Lets give them a warm Ibrox welcome. BIG TIME !!
  20. Excuse me if I am miles behind with this question, but I am quite old ! Aluko was excellent on Saturday and we have all been raving about him - Have we signed him up yet? I know we have him till the end of the season but there was talk of a 2 year deal - Did that happen? I hope so or we could have the "ginger one" tapping him !
  21. Thanks Oleg. You were a pretty good player in your day !! Remember when you and Alexei signed - Memories. PS - Can we chip in and buy Mervan different boots? Not sure about the lime green ones !
  22. Good positive post. I think there were positives and negatives to be taken from yesterdays game. McGregor - Made a couple of good saves at the feet of the Hibs forwards. Pos Bartley - Not his fault but he will never be a fullback. Neg Goian - Normal steady self. Pos Bocanegra - Natural leader. Pos Papac - One of our most reliable performers for some time but with Wallace, he didn't look as if he new what he should be doing. Neutral Wylde - Very poor. Didn't take the fullback on all day. Too predictable. Neg Edu - Powerhouse in the middle. Carrying on with his recent form. More and more of our play is going via him rather than Davis. Who would have thought that a few weeks ago.Pos Davis - Getting his form back. May be benefitting from Edu stepping up to the plate to take some of the pressure off him. Pos Wallace - A player I like and think will be very good for us but he looks a bit confused. Don't think the Wallace/Papac idea is working. Neutral Aluko - Outstanding. Made something happen every time he got on the ball. Held the ball up well and scored a screamer. Also showed Wylde how to take on and beat a fullback. Pos Healy - Worked his arse off. Imagine his work-rate with Boyds natural goalscoring. Wants to do well. Pos Mervan - Looked the part when he came on. early days but was really confident. Pos Kerkar - Tried hard to play the "killer" ball between the CH and FB. Didn't quite come off but at least he tied to be positive. Neutral McCulloch - Was just Jigger. Digs in, wins the ball, and passes it sideways or back. Neutral I'm the same as most people on here. I think we play too many long, hopeful balls when Jella plays. Not his fault, just because he is good in the air. Played less of them yesterday. In Aluko, Mervan, Davies, Edu and Wallace we have guys who can keep the ball so the need for the long ball isnt there, but we still need more sharpness in the box. With Jella plus 1 sharp striker or 2 if Jella goes we should be ok.
  23. I take your point but it's just so f****** annoying. The difference in price of train tickets for 4 people is around £150. "The best laid schemes etc."
  24. Typical. No thought for the fans. I know we need the TV money, but surely between RFC and the BBC they could have announced this as soon as the draw was made. The game was scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 4th. I bought my train tickets yesterday to come down from Aberdeen. If I wait too long the price is crazy money, so I try to buy as early as possible.
  25. The biggest problem John Fleck has is us. We need to give him a chance to shine, and that means not getting on his back whenever he makes a mistake. He needs to have the confidence to try things and he'll only get that with our support. We lack creativity and Fleck can give us that - If we give him time.
