I think you're right there and IF Warburton was to take it and it's a big if David Weir and his love of the club , knowledge and efforts to influence his friend and colleague would be as big a reason as anything I think .

Most managers will have informal talks then leave the finances to those representing them with the formal talks only talking place after the financial deal has been agreed.

Whichever one of the five is the major target I'd suspect wages to be the major stumbling block .

I think he's very interested in the job . Last week nearly all the posts to were talking of an imminent appointment but I tried to say I'm told it wasn't happening and in fairness it didn't . I'm not saying it won't happen but honestly talk of imminent unless there is a change in stance are premature or without that change frankly wrong .

Formal talks . I posted earlier in the other thread before that interview that only informal talks had taken place . I've no interest in chatting bollocks I'm just trying to inform what little I know .Like I say feel free to ignore .

Warbuton will not formally speak to rangers til terms are agreed , that's the way his people work with their other managers . It's not agreed or even close .

I know I'm prattling on like the voice of doom On this so understand if people want to disregard but it absolutely isn't a done deal in fact I don't think it's any further on that the early prelim talks . From what I'm told there hadn't even been a formal offer .

I think Weir is huge in creating/driving Warbutons interest , being honest I suspect others close to him professionally aren't as keen. It'll be interesting to see who wins out, when ive mentioned money there i'm not suggesting MW is driven by money because it's clear he isn't but I also think he'd want what he's worth which is fair enough .

Sorry to keep being negative but those expecting an imminent warbuton appointment are probably setting themselves up for disappointment . I don't think it's dead & dyche not leaving for Sunderland has probably helped but at the minute there has been no change from the early informal chats that I mentioned earlier in the thread and those warbuton stated that's all they were in the interview. As I understand it Warbutons representative has spoken to the club but very briefly or that was certainly the case up until yesterday and as I said before they were absolutely miles apart. I do think he's the clubs first choice and I think he is/was interested but obviously there is more to it than that.

I'm not saying your wrong but for what I know 100% We were speaking to warbutons people prior/during the playoffs . It may have been as a back up I honestly don't know but informal discussions leading to slightly more than that took place ,

The club have spoke to the representatives of both warbuton & mcinnes , who as it happens are the same people .

Yep I agree that's what I've been told but I try not too be definitive so if something dramatically changes I don't look like a complete prick !

Feel free to ignore but i think mcinnes is pretty much al non runner as well .
