  1. Regardless of finances or the professional nature of the side Any sportsman is going to enjoy winning the title the finances . Rangers were rightly expected to win the league and they have done , job done but the side need move on quickly concentrate on the cups and planning for next year. Didn't hear it but it sounds like an unsurprising cheap shot from the likes of Dodds.
  2. Has he signed ? I don't claim to know anything about inside Rangers but I was in company of someone the weekend that knows Mcinnes' situation very well. A deal was on the table and the chairman was anxious to get it signed before the final but it wasn't done. The negotiating point was on how much it'd cost for him to be released he's allowing his people to deal with the financial details but their advice is a prohibitive release is to be avoided. Interesting enough they also think there is an English club that may be interested at the end of the season. I think McInnes is going to be an excellent manager and if the job ever came up the club would be crazy not to have him right at the top of the list.
  3. The bloke has Already had a two match ban for shoving a linesman , regardless of the 'strength' of the butt Pardew is a manager and he just can't do that I'd expect a very lengthy ban probably the biggest ever for a manager for an on field incident .
  4. "Let's have a campaign to get a vile terrorist celebrating song into the charts , let's have the media back our protests , let's stop these stupid laws. Let's cry like babies and stand out feet coz the nasty Aberdeen fans sang nasty songs reminding us of stuff we'd rather sweep under the carpet. It's not fair it's not fair " Pathetic club and pathetic fans
  5. Couldn't agree with you more I think he's made for mayweather , as much as I think khan wouldn't have anywhere near enough for him I think he'd at least give him a 'test' .
  6. See that's the problem. I'm someone that gets up to the odd game but is nowhere near the 'informed fan' of you lads and before signingnup here got my info from English media , bbc Scotland podcast , heart & hand podcast the like and some online media . The info out there generally is very different than what seems in your knowledge and to be honest that's pretty frightening
  7. The only issue with that is I'm not even sure , in England , a Nazi salute would even get you arrested in fact I'm pretty sure it wouldn't so the stand up in court issue of this gesture is undermined and let's face it Terry was acquitted and they still banned him. By the way how bizarre is it that a nazi salute wouldn't get you arrested in England whilst used a 'banned sectarian ' word in Scotland would ? I'm sorry thats just mental.
  8. I don't think we are massively apart on are views on this to be honest. I suspect the FA have spoke to more people than I have about this and with the exception of the bloke you quoted earlier, who backtracked, pretty much everyone in France seems hugely opposed to it (obviously I don't mean the supporters but I hope you take my point ) . I also think there had been talk of banning it , I Honestly feel its one of those 'gestures' that means a lot more to the country it has its roots in meaning our discussion is taking place on the boundaries of the debate really . That's why I feel uncomfortable with it because I suppose I maybe don't know enough about it. Just on west I think it's may informative that rather than backing him they suspended him .
  9. I think where this issue is a lot more complicated than someone just calling somebody a racist term. I think part of the problem is that it's virtually unheard of here but the gesture does seem 'fairly ' universally pilloried in France. I do agree with you that the whole thing is a mess but from what reading I've done it's a gesture I'm at least a little uncomfortable with.
  10. Cuikerman also made additional comments didn't he : Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions President Roger Cukierman has backpedalled on his earlier comments, now stressing that the gesture is "an inversed Hitler salute." Cukierman said he is "troubled" Anelka dedicated his quenelle to French performer Dieudonne M'Bala M'Bala, "whose own motives are incontestably anti-Semitic." "It must be noted that the quenelle gesture has spread dangerously among our fellow citizens and especially among young people," Cukierman said on his organization's website. "I was disappointed by Anelka's attitude, whose behavior is the opposite of that which should be shown by a top-class athlete to the youths of our country." I take your point & I am troubled by the FA panel generally , the Terry one in particular given he was acquitted by a court of law. Whether I think Terry is guilty or not I'm uncomfortable with someone being cleared by the legal system but then being 'convicted' by a disciplinary panel.
  11. I've seen someone, you I think k post this earlier in the thread . I've had a look online and can't see anything or any reference to it bring anti-nazi anywhere , like most reports from those in France and in the British media as they all seem to be peddling the same anti-Semitic line. If there are references online about it being anti-nazi can you point me in that direction mate because that would probably alter the debate a bit. Christchurch I take your point on anti-Zionism or anti-state of Israel which I think is where the anti-Semitic debate can become sidetracked but that wasn't the defence Anelka used I don't think. The reality is he used a gesture that is considered to be anti-Semitic rather than a protest against the kind of points you raise , regardless anyway given the FIFA/UEFA policy on no political protest he'd probably earn a ban anyway. Like I say it's clearly something you feel passionate about but I'm sure if Anelka had been anti-Protestant or anti-British In His protest then those from the Girodome would be posting a huge list of their 'allegations' wouldn't they ?
  12. Heard a couple of pundits say mayweather thought khan was being too 'confident ' it was happening and didnt like him giving it the big one and that he's just not the type to put up with it. No idea if that true like , to be fair the likes of bunce and pauly malignaggi being saying madina for a while. Burns looks a decent price but I do think it's a tough call.
  13. I think it'll be closer than that maybe even too close to call , I'm hoping Burns keeps in the fight early on and then does enough to win over the last few rounds.
  14. I think sometimes whether some people are offended depends on whether it effects them or impacts on their lives. many , including me actually, were offended by McLean not wearing a poppy for Sunderland and certainly we had a huge thread here about that shite song they wanted in the charts. If Anelka had done a salute that was recognised or considered in support of the IRA or anti-Protestant I'm sure there would have been a huge thread on here demanding a massive ban . What Anelka did was at the very least 'poorly advised' and given the huge furore over recent issues over race if he didn't know the risk he should have , I also think that given he's this blokes mate you'd think he'd know the fuss the gesture generates in his homeland. Because of the terry and Suarez bans this was always going to happen , personally I think it was I poor taste and was a nailed on ban. The FA have to be even handed whether an incident is deemed racist or anti-semitic surely ?
  15. I wouldn't massively argue with that although it doesn't gel as much with what seems the majority view of those that have been and gone . I do though think it's only natural to a degree for supporters ,particularly Rangers supporters given what the clubs been through to at least be wary. I'm nowhere near as clued up as others on here and I totally take your point and probably agree but I dont think those that have concerns are necessarily operating any kind of hidden agenda.
  16. I absolutely get the issues people have with RST but surely there has to be a question asked about the loan ? Why does any individual or business take out a loan if such a loan isn't needed , clearly it seems many think the only reason can be the as a 'bridging loan' until the season ticket money comes in. If thats the case Then doesn't that raise issues over previous funds raised and how the business is being run ? I appreciate it's unusual for any club to be debt free these days but the majority of clubs have fairly substantial TV revenue coming season by season which works as a guarantee over such debts and that money isn't there for Rangers in the short or probably the long term. I'm not sure the RST have much support these days nor am I sure about how much public statements help but I do think it's natural for people to have concerns or at least questions.
  17. Without getting massively into the whole religious debate the likes of the abuse to Simon Weston and their constant abuse of the poppy led to a lot of lads I know of various denominations including catholics (more than a few of them ex forces) into following Rangers often casually at first and then in a few cases growing into something more than that. I know some on here disagree but a lot of people associate Rangers with respect to the military and to the country as a whole and certainly many of them down here don't seem to associate their religion with their 'patriotism' . Although as i say I associate with a fair few ex or current servicemen so maybe my group isn't typical .
  18. City on tonight and arsenal on tomorrow
  19. It absolutely is bitter journo's . if the defence ever make an application to withhold an address for 'safety' reasons the journalists make an application to oppose that. They are the only people who care about it but they bang on about their rights to report . the ridiculousness is in a case like this where the bloke is cleared and they still report his address , I think that's when he deserves the right to a bit of anonymity address wise even though google could find the address without too much difficulty earlier in the proceedings.
  20. Good to see the justice system working, congratulations to the WVB, his family and not forgetting the mod in question. From experience it's almost impossible to get a court to withhold an address you need a special application and even then there needs to be compelling and highly unusual circumstances as its seen to be a key tent pole of the justice system . Nothing anyone can do, it doesn't make it right it's just the way of the world unfortunately .
  21. It's amazing isn't it , I think his 'class' though is built on his frustration . Although i know exactly what your saying he does look decent his whole gameplan is built on spoiling & playing it safe and I'm sure he'd look more open and at risk if he actually tried to make a fight if it . It seems Johnson has established himself as a 'gatekeeper' for those looking to earn a shot and even getting that shot himself , I do wonder if he'll look back with regret though.
  22. He'd massively improved over the years . It was a row I'd had with lots of people , particularly Scousers, when you contrasted how Price before his defeats had basically stood still whilst Fury had progressed as a fighter by testing himself and get in shape. However he looked out of condition, technically just so poor and unmotivated in fact about as bad as I've seen him . I can understand the huge frustration of missing out on the big haye payday and training for 'nothing' whist feeling you've been played but I'm sorry that was pretty dreadful . Fury is going to need to get himself sorted and quickly .
  23. Fury looking in just awful shape , he'd actually got himself in a bit of nick before the Haye cancellations but he looks back to his worst. This opponent shouldn't cause him any difficulties but going by the pics fury looks a mess certainly for a 25 year old heavyweight contender.
  24. I did wonder in the build up to the first fight if it usual per-fight hype , I think some of the stuff about Kessler sparing stuff was probably just the usual. However I think close to the fight something really caught light and I certainly think the stoppage & Froch's immediate reaction followed by Groves' whinging (although he has a fight to be upset there is no better word really) has led to a real dislike. All of which , as you say, means the build up to the fight promises to be a cracker just like the deGale fight Groves seems to have a way of getting under people's skins. If you want to see a much more than a genuine dislike it's between Bellew & Nathan Cleverly they absolutely despise each other to an off the chart level and strangely given what most people would think I think most of those in boxing are in Bellew's corner. Not that either of those two have the talent to be in boxing discussion with Froch & probably Groves.
