  1. I know that post isn't addressed to me and I certainly can't speak for anyone else . Speaking personally first an foremost I follow everton and I've made no secret of that with my posting . I've also been up on a number of occasions to watch Rangers and feel a huge affection for the club and it's fans . If you check my posting history I've only ever been respectful to the club . I know a number of my friends feel the same because it's them I've been up with . A club the size of Rangers with it's history will often create an affection , for various reasons , with other fans . I joined this site when plenty of others were queuing to put the boot in and wanted to show there was a lot of others out there in your corner .
  2. Yeah st Luke's at the corner of main stand and gwladys is Anglican and st Domingo fc were Methodist with one of the reasons liverpool were formed a row over drink . Historically liverpool & everton aren't split simply on religious grounds .
  3. I honestly think in my experience it's difficult to judge in liverpool as a city plenty of both religion supporting both sides . I can say in recent years through players and managers an awful lot more evertonian have felt an affinity with Rangers whilst Liverpool seems to have grown closer to liverpool with YNWA & champions league matches and the like . Personally with my families origins and history of military service I'm an evertonian but will always do my best to follow Rangers as well especially through the difficult times you've experienced in the last few years when every rat in the world seemed eager to put the boot in . The city of liverpool has plenty of people with good sense enough to know that one side in the city of Glasgow doesn't just have on field success but also pride , dignity and class .
  4. If memory serves he pretty much gave every round his way . Personally thought haye did the job comfortably , wasn't pretty but effective
  5. I've honestly never seen anyone score fights as badly as him on a consistent basis , he had Valuev beating comfortably beating haye . The problem is it does effect peoples perception of fights the bonus is you can win a few quid online taking advantage of the odds. As for brook for me the scoring wasn't the best but I think he certainly did enough .
  6. Lived opposite me for a while and I'd speak to him regularly , he'd always be 'hanging around' looking for somebody to talk to really and I suppose all this was on the cards . It's just really sad .
  7. When this was all coming to a head I'd heard from good sources that Mackay was far from the innocent that his friends in the media were painting him , I posted it in a thread on here actually . I don't like Mackay but What's ironic is he may not work In British football , certainly for a good while , because of texts he's sent and received . Texts some of which are similar to what many have on their own phones whilst the actual story namely the 'alleged' financial wrongdoing at the centre of this doesn't even register and certainly wouldn't have stopped him getting a job because everyone knew . Bizarre really
  8. Jamie Moore getting shot that MGM gym is run and associated with some absolute wrong un's and sadly something like this was always in danger of happening . We've had O'Meara arrested around Christmas for a big importation job and now this , I'd be surprised if its the last we hear over the next 12 months.
  9. Basically swopped Fellaini for lukaku which has to be a good deal, that before you talk about the huge tv deal .
  10. I don't use twitter ,but I look at it ,but in similar timelines there are people talking about blowing up the Geordie shore house or or stuff about gaza or Israel . If you look at Facebook or Twitter every so often people , often footy fans , of whatever clubs post shite often offensive shite , when michael Jackson died how many jokes did you get ? Or how many about rolf harris or saville ? If something happened with Lennon tomorrow then would you see hundreds arrested ? I'm not saying people aren't horrible and offensive I just find it amazing that in out society now we arrest and prosecute such people for making jokes , is that where we are ? That Malaysian airline joke do you really think a 18 year old kid should be put before a court for it ? I'm 40 odd years of age and I've probably heard similar jokes for every tragedy for 30 odd years .
  11. I get that if that's what happened but for example An 18 year old Sunderland fan has been arrested and charged because he posted on twitter "2 fans weren't enough it should have been more " . Now again that's horrible and offensive but you can't tell me you've not heard more offensive jokes than that in the schoolyard , the pub or on your way to an awayer what a couple of hundred times or more ? Genuinely to me it's madness , The kid's offensive and I it's not him I feel any sympathy for really because he's a dickhead but the system it's just mad .
  12. It's a disgusting offensive tweet & although it was obvious to one and all good on the paper for naming the team loser who posted it . However I'm with the poster earlier talking about where the line gets drawn with this . Jokes about peaches offensive but ok tick , airline showdown jokes offensive but ok tick , this offensive not ok , mention a word associated with religion originating in Irish folklore where I am in England not a problem tick , mention a word associated with with religion originating in Irish folklore in Scotland really not ok and get arrested . It's just madness to be honest . If the scumbag who tweeted that gets nicked & sent to prison I won't care at all and if he cries and lies and claims it was his dad/son/hacker/he was drunk or whatever then I might even laugh at him . The reality is though he's said something deeply offensive and in the real world people do it all the time is it worthy of prison , really ? Free speech enables dickheads like him to identify themselves as dickheads with shit for brains almost immediately and the criminalisation of stupid offensive comments that ultimately are just that is something that worries me a bit.
  13. You'd imagine liverpool have applied a bit if gentle pressure there but like others I think the apology is a bit half-arsed at best .
  14. Been in his company when a Rangers game was on the tv he certainly seemed like a Bear.
  15. When he scored a hat-trick on his united debut I thought he'd end up being immense for them . don't get me wrong he's done really well particularly the season he scored 30 odd, 09/10 I think, but I just thought by now we'd be talking of his as a 'great' and that just never really happened.
  16. I think it's more because it's just a horrible act. If you think about it 'spitting' could be described as even less serious it doesn't mean it's not vile . I think it just goes against what we expect from footballers . Like I & others have said most of us can imagine a situation where we lose our rag and hit someone but biting someone ?
  17. "Alfie haaland" , "rather that than a leg breaker" ,"English media" , "he's a lovely bloke , misunderstood" , "the camera angle is inconclusive " , "can't believe the over reaction" , "it was an attempted headbutt" they're all fairly standard and well practised defences of the bloke.
  18. I can imagine if 'fighting for my life' circumstances where as you say exactly that, where you'd try and get free but for that to be your 'go to' manoeuvre especially when your not in a confrontation is something I just can't get my head around.
  19. That's what I find baffling . I think a lot of us have , throughout their lives , had fights and thrown punches maybe headbutts or kicks but who bites somebody ? It's as you say just so peculiar .
  20. Of course you'd rather have a bite than career ending injury from a tackle but that doesn't make it right . Bite someone on the street and you'd be looking at a heavier sentence than a punch , dependant on the injury of course . A bite is a horrible, disgusting and vile thing to do . I've played & watched for football for years , boxed and done other sports and personally never seen anybody do it other than Suarez (I'm aware of Defoe but wasn't watching that) . It's just incredible . Suarez has done this three times and seems to be showing no signs of 'learning his lesson' despite 7 & 10 game bans.
  21. I'm generally only a lurker and occasional poster and I'm genuinely shocked to read just now of his passing. Manticore was one of a few posters who've stood out so this really was sad news . Deepest sympathy to his family & friends and clearly to a lesser degree to all of us who 'knew' him on here. A loss to all that knew him to whatever degree RIP.
  22. Terrified of the prospect but as much as it pains me to say it they're up there on merit , from an attacking point of view I'm not sure there is anything to rival them. That said it'll be a tough ask to beat City & Chelsea . It'll be tight right to the finish and I think , probably hope more than anything, that they'll fall just short but they've had a great season.
  23. It's just ridiculous , weren't they favourites to get the final ? Strange that wasn't an issue. Champions league final pretty much every year has the potential to be an issue and only the other year Munich played at home to Chelsea and nobody is arsed. Pathetic.
