  1. Buying players in the window and two weeks later sacking the manager , the club seem all over the shop. The experienced pulis' success at palace contrasts with plenty of the other panic overseas appointments in the Prem and this could easily been another one , meulensteen seems to have been
  2. Said it earlier that kind of work you do is invaluable as highlighted in your earlier letters post. I find The apathy of politicians and their head in the sand attitude so credit to you for making them uncomfortable or at least trying to. I know many disagree and I've mentioned it in another thread but if politicians of whatever persuasion stepped up and hammered the Act by defending this disgusting song but also at the same time defended those sung by Rangers fans then you'd have to respect them speaking their mind at least but instead of that they keep their powder dry over Celtic and await their opportunities at Ibrox and that's sickening. Well in Willhelm for trying at least.
  3. Good on you for the work you do not just for Rangers but for the communities you represent , absolutely nothing wrong with retaining the integrity of your organisation. Congratulations on your efforts & Good luck with the political party idea
  4. Im a bit conflicted by this really , firstly the celebration of a terrorist organisation who was/are actively involved in the killing of British citizens is despicable and would surely turn the stomach of any decent minded individual. let's not kid ourselves there can be no hiding behind the 'old IRA' rubbish these are cowardly provisional ira and inla butchers of recent times, recent enough for families to still to be grieving . However , and i feel dirty for saying this , I do 'understand' the protest against the Act and it was an Act that was introduced to above all hurt Rangers and the clubs fans , you only have to look at the difference response letters got which is mentioned in the VB thread. If you despise the Act then freedom to sing songs can't just be our songs they have to be 'all songs ' . It's like that Voltaire quote about "disapproving of what you say but defending your right to say it" . That doesn't mean I don't despise what they stand for. However above all I'm angry at that article in the Herald , it basically ignores the terrorist connotations and brushes it off as a rebel song whilst describing the whole thing as a success. the same media that alleged, condemned and searched for sectarianism at Ibrox especially amongst the military when there was none there. Now when it seems support for terrorists hits them in the face they sit on their hands .
  5. Reading the article what an incredible quote this is Last week’s Tynecastle incident may not have been motivated by sectarianism but the vast majority are. Right across the country he’s targeted because of his religion. So even whilst accepting that there was 'no sectarian element' to this he manages to shoe horn it into an article to allow lennon to further play the victim , if it's not related why reference it ? Lennon is a thoroughly unlikeable invidual , as others have rightly said isn't it strange that other previous managers don't seem to have had any similar problems ? No manager deserves to have objects thrown at him whilst doing his job but Can you imagine how a Lennon would respond to seeing someone behaving like an equivalent to his spitting DOB rant ? He'd be on the front of every paper bawling and crying about how unfair it all is. Lennon comes across as what he is unlikeable , unpleasant , two faced and bitter.
  6. 19th May 84 everton beat Watford at wembley and I remember it like it was yesterday , Aberdeen beat Celtic 2-1 the same day . A very happy day all round
  7. Good solid performance last night and a great result for the competition today watching them go out as well as very satisfying which certainly gives Rangers a real chance but it'll still be far from a stroll . Rangers will have to play very very well to win this competition and probably have a bit of luck as well but there is a better chance now than there was yesterday so let's hope.
  8. Great to watch them crash out but even more enjoyable as it really does give Rangers a chance of the Scottish Cup now , far from easy but a lot easier with them out the competition . Looking forward to seeing the Lennon post match interview I'm sure he'll be a gracious loser
  9. The KP 'failure' used to infuriate me , he'd get 40 runs and be branded a failure and the rest with a high score of 17 would somehow escape the same level of criticism . Bizarre . If KP has done something badly wrong then fine tell us but this 'cricketing reasons' stuff is just rubbish and is making the ECB look pathetic
  10. KP is always the tall poppy the easy target with the 'cheap outs' dig. Everyone can debate the alleged dressing room issues but the official line is he was dropped for 'cricketing reasons' well clearly that's BS , Vaughan has rubbished the claims he was 'unmanageable' and pretty much everyone from Vaughan , Harmison, Stewart , tufnell & both am just want to know the real reasons and I'm no different . At the minute is just seems a ridiculous decision and it looks like KP has been sacrificed to protect a failing , struggling and unimaginative captain and that's just wrong .
  11. The way this halfwit will be treated by his club is directly related to how good a player he is ultimately everything else pales into insignificance , Suarez has had allegations of racism & biting and the club have backed him 100% but if he'd been a U-18 waster on a big contract GED have probably been out the door. It's a business and clbs just don't lose sight of that. As regards what he tweeted well he's clearly a scumbag that could do with a slap but does he deserve jail for it ? The happiest people over this will be those that support the ridiculous legislation and that have built an environment where the various clubs supporters continually (albeit understandably ) point the finger each other and site when it's been used against them. The unbelievably stupid terrorist glorifying banners those balloonheads hold up don't help reasoned argument but the more it happens the more the legislation is never going away . Its the laws that's the enemy that puts Rangers supporters away not those who run screaming to the police about how awful the songs are .
  12. Terry is the best english centre half in the country at the moment , by a distance . However the baggage & history of the situation with the ban for racism means its just not going to happen . The FA will not play a player for the national team whose been banned for racist language despite the fact he was acquitted at magistrates court that's before the issues of the relationship between the player and national manager are considered and the potential problems that will be probably be raised by the media, pressure groups and players of ethnicity. Before you even consider how terry feels how he was treated . From purely a footballing point of view I'd say it's a no brainer but the other factors means its never going to happen
  13. Groves applied to the Boxing Board of control to have the result reversed and declared a no contest , in my opinion this is getting pathetic now . I can't believe even the strongest groves supporter can agree with this course of action , he's just starting to make himself look ridiculous as I said earlier like khan did over the 'man in the hat ' rubbish.
  14. Apparently Groves is appealing to the IBF to see if he can have the mandatory purse split adjusted moving his share from 15% up to 25% , can't see it happening as the ranking determines the split surely ? I can understand Groves feeling the fight was stopped too early and for wanting the best for himself for the future but he's in danger of damaging his reputation the way khan did with the "man in the hat" rubbish.
  15. He'll be covered by vicarious liability but I posted in the other thread that at the very least the bloke who had his flag taken should have financial renumeration from the police for it . given that he's had an apology I'd suggest he seeks legal advice stating how he felt humiliated and embarrassed by what happened. I appreciate people will laugh that off but it's the only way an organisation like the police will ever learn , a letter written in 2seconds and a bland apology means nothing to them or the copper who was quick to seize a flag of he union.
  16. Disgraceful decision initially however both very good news and surprising to see an apology from the police I'd hope they'd not only offer a formal apology to the 'victim' of their overzealous policing but also seek to reimburse him for any financial loss re the flag. Not to speak for BMR but isn't he saying that it was a bad decision but that Rangers fans should keep that mindset when those rats face (all too rarely it seems) similar policing be it over flags or chanting or whatever ? The ridiculous legislation at the root of many of these problems only has a chance of surviving as it uses the partisan nature of football fans to keep the sides divided . The way to defeat it however unpleasant it may be is , for the short term and on this one point , is not to point score over this at least. However I totally understand how ridiculous it is when faced by policing , now admitted as wrong , that seizes a flag of the union but allows with impunity flags of foreign nations.
  17. I'm not sure I'm close enough to this to have an opinion certainly one as valued as that of the supporters in this thread but I was listening to the BBC Scotland podcast from Saturday in the gym this morning and the glee in which the journo's were putting the boot into Ally was frankly sickening . I absolutely get that there is a debate to be had especially looking to build or at least plan for the future but surely with the club top of its current division , again , some of it to me seems a bit excessive.
  18. Traorè is supposed to be still Out for a while longer with a hamstring problem I think
  19. The ref stopped it too early but he'd turned it around & Froch was going to win that fight in my opinion . It'll be a good watch , really tough to call and Froch would be crazy to take it lightly but think he might still have too much for groves
  20. Long way to go financially yet I'd think , the mandatory might even hurt groves' purse
  21. I had the BBC Radio Scotland podcast and they certainly seemed both determined of impending doom and to revel in it but what's the answer ? If as a club you fail to deal with the media then you widen the gap but if you continue to deal with then does it make it worse ? I don't know the answer
  22. One of the worst scorers I've ever seen , the bloke is clueless. Any former Boxer deserves respect never mind a Former world champion but when it comes to judging he doesn't have a clue to the degree it's been embarrassing more than once .
  23. There is no doubt in my mind the legislation was brought in to target Rangers , you only have to look at those who were it's strongest champions before its introduction to see that . Those same people then seem shocked when it's used to arrest and prosecute people across all sides . That said its an absolutely ridiculously piece of legislation and pretty much every time it fails its effectively a good day (with one or two obvious exceptions ) , can anybody look at this case in isolation and Honestly believe anybody deserves to be in court for it ? It's ridiculous as is the whole , primarily anti-Rangers driven , Act and I find it incredible the European Court of European Human Rights seems so able to interject on so many other British legal matters whilst this rubbish seems immune.
  24. To plays devils advocate if you were sponsoring Wigan and somebody say James Mcclean did a pro-IRA celebration or somebody did something in support of any other terrorist or anti-British group how would you feel ? I'm not saying the sponsors should have any right to influence team selection but the do have a right to not want their funding to be associated with something directly at opposed to "who they are" don't they ?
  25. They can't at the minute really though can they ? It's obviously bollocks but as a newspaper on day one with a possible police enquiry pending all they can really do is report what he says . Don't get me wrong I'm not looking to defend the rat or defend the fact they'd be using 'rangers fan' if it was the other way around I just mean that as regards his story I suppose they are a bit limited at the minute.
