I think Ally would far rather sign the old Boyd than give Clark the chance to become the new Boyd. I don't think there's a big plan behind this signing i think Ally saw Miller and thought "i know him and he's free" we have little planning or scouting in place to ensure that we can go beyond Allys Facebook friends list when it comes to judging potential signings

I think any negativity stems from a lack of faith in our manager rather than any fear of the Edinburgh teams. We are more afraid of bad tactics and a dour negative mindset than any opposition team or player.

Almost certainly, our 2007\08 heroics kept Scottish co-efficiency points artificially high for years now the real state of Scottish clubs minus us in Europe has come home to roost and we will be lucky to have more than 1 CL spot with 3\4 qualifiers and 1 Europa league spot with similar qualifiers to aim for in a few years.

Not really, Aird and Macleod are the only two that got much of a chance last season, and the season before the only reason Ally gave them two a chance was the transfer embargo. Aird was left out until Peraltas inabilty to adapt to a RW position was so obvious even Ally could see it and leaving Lewis out would have turned the support totally against Ally. The fact is Ally just like Walter really doesn't trust young players to deliver the goods and so they are a last resort and even Lewis was shunted out wide to make way for more signings when a blind man cam see he's much better central. Ally will play youth if he has no other choice but as soon as a Jon Daly, Lee McCulloch or Kenny Miller becomes available the kids are dropped or shunted out of position to make way for "the boys" everybody cam see this except the men who can actually do something about it and replace Ally, the board.

I don't keep my eyes on the spl table but i assume D Hivs are in the Europa qualifiers as usual, if not next season then probably the season after they don't usually get very far like most Scottish clubs outside of ourselves and the mhanks but they are usually there.

Not just you mate, So Telfer is good enough for DHivs in the top flight and Europe but not good enough for us in the Championship? There is no youth "crisis" the only crisis is we have a manager who doesn't want to give young players a chance and would rather mid 30 something's.

I would have skipped Miller and just got Boyd. Any young strikers at Rangers must be looking rather pissed off right now as one older player to partner is one thing but two older players plus Daly means kids like Stoney will be consigned to another year in the U20s scoring freely but never getting a chance in the first team.

They always pull out rent a quote Turnbull for these articles. We are going to be part of the most exciting league in the country and the attendance figures will reflect that.

IF and its a huge IF its only 3k a week that would make me happier about this but i still worry about the chances for youth players, if as rumored Boyd is close behind Miller where does that leave Stoney, Gallagher and Clark? Yes the likes of Miller and Boyd could be a great partnership for the Championship but what about in 2\3 years time when they are both retired or totally past it and we have lost all our good youth players to our rivals like Telfer because we couldn't see the big picture and focused on the short term than the long term.

Agreed but i still think we are going the wrong way about things. I just cant help thinking of the fantastic opportunity to really give young talent like McKay, Gallagher, Telfer, Stoney and Murdoch a chance to shine in the lower leagues and have a young hungry team with a few solid experienced pros mixed in but instead we have a strike force of Daly and Miller and a Striker turned midfielder at CB instead of a young internationalist like Gasparotto. Maybe not all the young lads would of amounted to much but we haven't even tried to find out and if the pressure of next season means youth is overlooked yet again just how bad will the first year back competing against the bheasts be? We had a unique chance to change our outlook and build for the future and the pics of Kenny Miller being paraded at Ibrox just remind me how badly we failed.

Miller is clearly a better player so in that sense Miller but Little was a loyal servant for many years and played his part in the journey. Miller may be a better all round player but he's also 10 years older than Little and certainly isn't the future.

It shows as if we didn't already know that we are going for the experienced "will do a job for a season" signings than speculating to accumulate and at least trying to show we have more ideas than the Rangers 2009 squad photo. Yes we need promotion but we also need to look beyond just next season and get a real plan for our club. This is a failing of board and management that has allowed us to slip back into the old habits that help push us to our near demise.

I will say welcome back Kenny but Im not happy at all about this signing unless he's getting a few thousand a week max.

The mhanks are always a laughing stock but we will be lucky to see a player half as good as Laudrup in Scotland for decades, those days are gone and with the shockingly unfair division of TV cash to England and other leading football nations Scottish football will flounder even further behind than we already are. We need out of Scottish football to progress as winning the spfl and a few CL games or Europa games before crashing out will not attract the big players.
